The question I pose in this thread is, what actors do you seem to notice playing the same type of role over and over again?
Ones that I immediately notice:
Isla Fisher: She played the naive psychotic girl once. She did it well. Now she keeps playing it.
Jaime Pressly: You'd have to take your shoes off to count the number of times she's played trailer trash...AND she even won an Emmy for it.
John Francis Daley: What started out as being one of the titular "Freaks & Geeks" eventually turned into a career of playing the new and/or awkward guy. See Waiting or Kitchen Confidential (both fairly accurate representations of the food industry, by the way) for examples.
Richard Gere: I don't know how to explain it...but he's just always the same guy. He should learn from the fact that the one time he branched out, he got an Oscar nomination.
I'm sure there's other obvious ones that I'm forgetting...that's why I'm opening up the discussion.

Will Smith, He will ALWAYS be the Fresh Prince to people. Pursuit of Happiness was probably his best movie that I had seen. Great actor, but forever will be Fresh Prince, even at 80

Samuel L. Jackson as someone who yells "motherf*cker" constantly, Jon Heder as Napoleon Dynamite in every movie, Morgan Freeman as the wise old grizzled man you sympathize with/the narrator.
