My only problem with these posts is that you throw your opinion at people and argue when you dont agree, I mean look at the title, seriously, kurupt is not that great, he had some good stuff....but so did MC Hammer.
I am not in rap mode right now to look up lyrics and have this debate, but SYE is absolutely right, you throw your opinions at people and belittle them if you dont agree with em

I don't see why you guys get on this guy so hard. What's he doing wrong. Disagreeing with your opinions on who's the better rapper?
Any one who says two guys who didn't even write there own lyrics (eazy and dre) are better than Kurupt don't know hip-hop.
I'm not even a big Kurupt fan, but most of you throwing out your favorite rappers saying they're better probably haven't even heard much of Kurupt.

Kurupt is indeed a good rapper, his affiliations with Snoop and the rest of the Dogg Pound helped his career greatly. His production is great, All About U for example, one of the greatest songs in West Coast Rap history. Deny it if you want, but ask anyone who listens to rap, chances are they have heard that song.
Saying Kurupt in his prime is better than our favourite rappers is pure bullcrapas that is like saying Kurupt is the best MC there has ever been, depending on who our favourite rappers are. I like others disagree that Kurupt is the best, he certainly may be up there with some of the WC greats and lyrically he is a machine. However there are better. Like many have said, Pac, Biggie, NWA and others such as the Wu, all rank above him imo.

Papoose completely owns that bitch in freestyle, speed, actually intelligent lyrics or any other category you can think of.

I like Kurupt and all and yes in his prime he had a real sick flow, but my favorite rapper is 2Pac and no one will ever be Tupac great status.

"omg, he disagreed with me!" you act like its the end of the world. I give my opinion like everyone else here, no different then anyone else. and kurupt was (he isnt anymore) that great. comparing him to mc hammer has me questioning your thoughts on this subject. oh, and to whoever said krayzie bone did the chorus of "2 of amerkias most wanted", no he didnt.

Nas- War is necessary to my *****z in chains From Greene to Sing-Sing, I'm wantin y'all to know one thing The hardest thing is to forgive, but God does Even if you murdered or robbed, yeah it's wrong, but God loves Take one step toward him, he takes two toward you Even when all else fail, God support you I done it, got God Son on my stomach My heart and my lungs was affected from Henny's and gettin blunted Do your body right and it loves you back You only get one life, and yo because of that I'm still blazin, goin out for the cause Still rockin stockin caps, not for the waves, obeyin no laws Sometimes I sit back with a Buddha sack Mind's in another world thinking how can we exist through the facts Written in school text books, bibles, et cetera a school lecture, the lies get me vexed-er

I tend to agree that Kurupt in his prime was nearly untouchable. The only problem I have with that is his prime lasted around 2 years, while many other emcees maintained their game far above and beyond that. I won't argue that Kurupt had some untouchable crapthough.
If we're throwing around best of the best though, I gotta say:
Atmosphere - I like half of Slug's shit, the other half I completely ignore. He's great when he's on top, but I don't feel all his stuff is up to snuff.
Nas - Again, I like just about half of his songs, he rips some bungholes on Illmatic, Stillmatic, and God's Son, but a lot of his other albums I don't even listen to most of the time.
Eminem - Love him or hate him, if you know anything about rap, you know this guy is just plain untouchable at certain times, like on Renegades. I could listen to only that verse for the rest of my life and be content with music. However, I barely listen to Encore anymore, and even when I do it's only Yellow Brick Road.
Still, these guys are just as hit and miss as anyone. The thing with the medium of music is high output is expected, so naturally some of it is going to suffer. I love Tech N9ne, he's a bad ass mc with some ridiculous flows, and his delivery can't be matched. I understand not everyone likes his delivery, but I do, but not all the time. With music so much of it is made in so many seperate attitudes and time frames that it's wrong to compare Eminem on The Marshal Mathers LP to Eminem on Encore. They aren't the same person, they're not the same production, they're not the same mindset. Still, Eminem, Nas, Tech N9ne, Slug, Kurupt, when they are at the top of their game, they really can't be compared to other MC's, because the crapthey put out was so ridiculously good.
I know that doesn't jibe with a lot of people, but hey, a lot of people listen to Bob Dylan, and he has one of the worst voices to ever grace music. Don't agree with that? Well take it up with Bob, he's admitted that fact more times than anyone. But when he writes something that is pure poetry, that's what gets him recognized as one of the best at what he does.
Which is why I can say that yes, Kurupt is definitely one of the better rappers to ever rap.
Then again, I don't worship Biggie and 2 Pac, so what do I know, right?

I love Tech N9ne. The album and the song "Absolute Power" is ridiculous. His flow and his rhymes and how he can have you laughing one song and then turn around speed up his flow and talk about crapthat will have you quoting every line just amazes me.
So I was looking forward to some of his new stuff but when I heard some of it I was disappointed to say the least...
Eminem is top 5 regardless of your personal opinions of him are. His rhymes were actually good in Encore but the beats were lacking and I think he is trying to "chase radio" as Jay-Z would put it. And he shouldn't do that because he could put out anything and it would be a hit so i hope with the rumored "King Marshall" album he will go back to his old flow and forget that he has a daughter just for a few months so that he can go in the studio and rap about homosexuals, chainsaws, raping his mom, and drugs. Jeez, longest run-on sentence ever.

As you mentioned, Everready is definitely not his best work, with only like 5 songs being anything better than average. Which, on an album with 24 songs, is kind of depressing. That doesn't change the fact that the 5 songs I do like on the album are some of my favorites though.

Can you list them please.
Because I only heard a handful of songs and they were not Tech N9ne caliber at all.
I just found out what his name meant a couple of months ago. Technique Number 9ne.
Pretty cool.

Pretty cool. Riot Maker - Not so much a great song, but if you like Tech and his style, this one should get you going. No Can Do - My favorite song on the album, it displays Tech's range, and his lyrical mastery that you expect. Come Gangsta - A song about what is expected out of rappers as pertaining to their image and what they do outside of rap. Running Out of Time - Catchy song, not the best, but it's worth a listen. The Rain - My second favorite track on the album, it's about his life being torn between trying to make money and provide for his family, but at the same time missing them so much it makes him want to break down. Awesome beat. The Beast - The companion song to Come Gangsta, it's about how he shakes off Aaron Yates and becomes a different person to survive in the rap world. This Is Me - Tech, stripped down, admitting everything and all his feelings on whether or not a rap career is worth the damage it has caused his life.

I mean, just look at the pac songs I posted that had kurupt on them. with them on the same track, its even more clear who the better emcee is. kurupt. but like you said, kurupt fell off way too early in his career. kurupt - calling out names: ^^ one of the dopest diss records ever. I love tech, but honestly, I get irritated with his delivery and I cant listen to him a whole album through. the whole "cha!" thing he does after every bar gets really really annoying. slug is dope, but is very monotone and boring at times.
