since there is a Favorite Guitar Solo, i thought, "Why not?"
Mine would be anything from Joey Jordison or Lars Ulrich.

Lars Ulrich is really overrated. I don't see much outstanding qualities as a drummer. My favorite drum solo would have to be by Marco Minneman of Necrophagist. I saw him perform his solo live, july 6th. I was literally in awe with my jaw dropped the whole 8 minutes.

Shouldn't we be citing specific drum solos?
That makes the most sense...
I'll go with Neil Peart on YYZ off the Exit Stage Left album.

Probably from Matt Cameron in Pearl Jam when they extended "Even Flow" by like 3 minutes at the Gorge. It wasn't really a solo, but I count it as one. Just watching Chris Pennie warm up before Coheed's set at Warped this year was quite something.

As a drummer, mine are
Anything Neil Peart does, the man is a genius, he may not have the "Hey look, i can do 32nd notes on the double bass in cut time" solos, but they are so technical and amazing, its really great.
In the Saint Thomas by Sonny Rollins, Max Roach also just dominates.
In another version of St. Thomas, the one with Tito Puente I believe, the man pulls a pretty awesome solo too
And Moby Dick still amazes me
