Dane Cook is not a great comedian in my opinion, i'd Stephen Lynch. I liked his "Vanilla Ice Cream" the best

What the hell? Cook is one of the nicest comedians there is to his fans. He goes out of his way to sign autographs and makes his audience as much of the show as any comedian. to quote david cross about larry the cable guy and dane cook.... cook is a hack...end of story. same crap all the time...i have never found his "act" funny in the least bit. give me denis leary, mitch hedberg, lewis black, david cross, dave attell, bill cosby, sinbad, richard pryor, steven wright or eddie murphy any day of the ing week over cook.

Then you say, "...this (the personal attack) was different because David basically hammered my fans in that RS article by implying that they were ignorant. He crossed the line when he railed against them, so I had to tell ya what I felt about that. He can hammer me all he wants, but when he screwed with my fans, it was time for me to say something." Aww, that's so sweet and egregious. I can't stand that fan ass kissing bull ****. You and Dane Cook ought to get together and have a "my-fan's-are- the-greatest-people-on-earth-and-that's-why-I-do-this" off. You could both sell a **** load of merch too. I like David Cross, as well. I'm a big fan of his comedy, as well as his amazing role as Tobias Funke in Arrested Development... But what's wrong with sticking up for your fans when someone is ripping on them, generalizing them, and acting like their fans (whom are probably a lot of the same people) are SOOO much better? I don't like Larry the Cable Guy at all, but I do respect that he loves his fans. They're the ones who pay your bills. I'm not saying that anything is wrong with NOT giving a lot of attention to your fans, but if you want to, why is that bad? Maybe you're not one of them, but there are thousands upon thousands of people who liked Dane Cook "before he got popular." Then when he started to explode, like any other thing in this country, it was no longer cool to like him. It's so stupid. That's the kind of crap that pisses me off.

I didn't even know who the hell Dane Cook was until he started to do all of those annoying MLB playoffs promos.
I knew if he was obnoxious then, I would most certainly hate his act.
I was right.

I have to mention a few if were talking about the best.
George Carlin - While his material might have went down in quality in the past few years he is still funny as hell, and his decades of stuff continues to hold up today.
Bill Hicks - I honestly believe had he not died so young he would still be around and he would be one of the biggest comedian's in the world today. If you haven't seen any of his stuff please check it out, and if you are a fan of Denis Leary you must see Bill Hicks. Denis took some of the stuff Bill said and put a slightly different spin on it, but Bill's stuff will always be funnier than anything Denis has done, and before any of you bitch me out, I love Denis, but he is a poor mans Bill Hicks.
Lewis Black - The best comedian in the world right now, I can not watch him for more than 5 minuets without laughing my ass off. He continues to come up with new stuff and he updates his older stuff to keep it fresh. He is also one of the nicest people I've ever met and he took quite a bit of time to speak to every fan that was in Louisville the night I saw him.

I remember seeing Dane Cooks first comedy central special when it originally aired and thought the guy was awesome. Little did I know he would be as big as he has become just a few years latter. If he wasn't so popular half the people that hate him would really like him and then there are those that would just down right hate the guy because they just don't think he is funny (which is normal). I'll never understand the hate bandwagons that people get on, they hear stories and automatically believe it's all true. I'm not saying they aren't but well to quote WF forums "no pics no proof".
Anyway with all that I am a fan of Dane's old stuff, his new CD sucked, the audience did nothing but scream at his jokes as if they were at a concert. He gets a lot heat some maybe he deserves but you can't deny that the guy is funny you may not think he is but 1000's of others do and that says something.
