WWE Presents; No Way Out!
Live! February 17th 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada!
RESULTS
A nice video package starts to air. It highlights tonight's No Way Out card, going over various feud such as the Randy Orton/DH Smith feud, Edge/Rey/Taker/Chavo feud, the Elimination Chamber and the ECW World Championship! The package goes for about 3-4 minutes before we go live to Las Vegas for No Way Out! The pyrotechnics explode and the night is officially underway! The crowd is sold out and you can tell. Not an empty seat in the house here. "Wax Simulacra" by Mars Volta, the official No Way Out theme song, starts playing over the system as the crowd scan continues. Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler are the first commentating team to welcome us to No Way Out, live on Pay-Per-View! They run down the Raw side of the card and then send it to Michael Cole & The Coach from Friday Night Smackdown! They go over the Smackdown portion of the card, including the United States/Career Threatening match and the big Main Event tag match! Joey Styles & Tazz are the last team that welcome us to the show. They go over the one ECW feud over the World Championship, featuring the title match tonight featuring CM Punk/Shelton Benjamin. They send it right back to Michael Cole & The Coach. Looks like Smackdown will be opening up the show here tonight. What is first?!
WWE Tag Team Championships- Miz & John Morrison (c) v. Deuce & Domino v. Shannon Moore & Jimmy Wang v. Jesse & Festus
The tag team title match will open the show tonight! Jesse & Festus come out to a so-so reaction from the Nevada crowd. They come out first, followed by Deuce and Domino with Cherry. These 3 do not get a solid reaction at all. This team is done for. They got no reaction. Next is the most unique tag team in the WWE today, Wang Yang & Moore. Big pop from the crowd again, they are over. Then, the tag team champions, Miz/Morrison. They get some solid heat, good job. Tag match begins with Deuce and Jesse. Remember, you can tag anyone in. Deuce really controls this encounter, with his power. He tags in the Miz and he starts going to work. Miz hits all the moves he has in his arsenal and wears Jesse down. Miz brings in Jimmy Wang Yang. Yang starts off with some brutal kicks to the chest of Jesse. Wang Yang gets a little cocky thought and takes his mind off of Jesse and Jesse tags in Festus. Festus starts tossing Wang Yang around the ring, giving him a real beating. Crowd is actually stirring for this here and are behind both men. Festus brings in Domino and the crowd dies down. Domino uses more a technical approach on Wang, but it fails. Jimmy starts reversing some moves and gets speed and momentum. He gives a quick tag to Moore and Domino gets Morrison in. Oh man, the crowd is way behind Moore and he shows some nice skill. He goes after Miz also and that brings him into the match. Eventually, everyone winds up inside and the ref cannot control this mob scene. Jesse & Festus have Deuce and Miz on the outside. Wang Yang does a dive onto these men and this allows Morrison to capitalize. BAM! Swinging neckbreaker on Moore while he was watching Yang. Morrison gets the 3 and its over! Miz/Morrison retain the belts! What an opener!
Winners and STILL WWE Tag Team Champions: The Miz & John Morrison
A video package involving the elimination chamber is played. Then, its shows clips of how all the men got into the chamber and then it fades to Santino Marella in the back, with his newly won Intercontinental Championship. Maria is not found and Santino looks to be pumping himself up for later tonight. He is without a doubt the long shot in the match.
Todd Grisham is backstage with the WWE Champion, Randy Orton. He asks Orton how he feels tonight and will he be able to overcome the newcomer in Smith? Orton says that Smith reminds him of Davey Boy a ton. They have the same build and personality. So, he has studied Davey Boy Smith to no end and tonight should be an easy win and he will go on to Wrestlemania to face one of six men. And he will walk out champion! Good promo here, his best in awhile.
WWE Women's Championship- Beth Phoenix (c) v. Ashley v. Mickie James v. Jillian Hall
Mickie got the biggest pop out of all these women. She is way over with the crowd and the booking team needs to see this. Ashley and Jillian went at it, while Mickie/Beth locked up to start the match. Beth did get a clear advantage eventually, but Mickie battled back quickly. Jillian joined the mix after disposing of Ashley to the outside. She went straight for Mickie and took her down with a hair toss. She got on top of James and just started whaling on her. Beth then took out Jillian with a double underhook that just got a two count. Ashley made her way back into the ring, but is met with a Body Slam from Beth. Right now, Beth is the only girl standing. The Women's champion has a choice of lady and chooses Mickie. Maria starts making her way down to the ring and stands at ringside. Later in the match, Jillian throws Ashley back over the rope and Maria checks on her. Looks like Maria is out here to support Ashley. Beth went for a Fisherman's Suplex on Mickie, but she battled out of it and got a close two on a roll up. The match ended with Jillian being tosses over the rope by Mickie and then Beth hit a Fisherman's Suplex on Mickie for the win. Some nice Women's action here. Maria checked on both Ashley and Mickie afterward.
Winner and STILL Women's Champion: Beth Phoenix
A promo video started to air. It had grunge era music playing the background and the whole promo read;
"You knock me down
I get back up.
By now you should know
that I cannot die."
Screen went black after this segment.
A WWE 24/7 promo aired. It says that next month is St. Patrick's month. Whatever that means. Order NOW!
Chris Jericho is backstage getting warmed up for his match later tonight, the elimination chamber. This man has come back to the WWE to save it and it would be a treat to see him win tonight. We then fade into JBL's locker room, where he is lacing up his boots. These two have some recent history together and they shall go through hell in the elimination chamber.
ECW Championship- CM Punk (c) v. Shelton Benjamin (w/Elijah Burke)
Boy did Punk get a nuts reaction. Probably second biggest of the night. The crowd loves this guy and he needs to move to a major brand. In time, in time. Benjamin also got some nice heat, as he came down to the ring with Elijah Burke. These two lock up and they match move for move. Dropkick for Dropkick..heelkick for heelkick. Crowd is on fire for this one when it starts off. Benjamin then tails away and gets clear advantage over the champion. Benjamin uses a ground attack to keep Punk down for the time being. Punk looks fatigued from the attacked two weeks in a row. Benjamin makes a mistake and misses a missile dropkick and its an opening for Punk. Rights, lefts, kicks to the chest. Punk then gives Shelton the old face wash in the corner and follows it up with a bulldog/knee combo. Punk looks ready to hit the GTS, when Gregory Helms makes his way down the aisle. Punk stares at Helms and starts yelling at him. Punk wants a piece of him so bad. Shelton comes back into the match and hammers down on Punk again. Benjamin hits a T-Bone suplex and gets a CLOSE two count. He couldn't believe it and he argued with the ref about the call. Punk then re-gained some strength, only to be hit from behind by Helms. The ref didn't even see it. Benjamin then attempts another T-Bone suplex, but Punk reverses it right into a GTS! He gets the 3 and he retains the belt! Afterward, Helms rolls into the ring and goes right after Punk. But this time, Punk gets the better of Gregory. Punk starts beating the holy hell out of Helms. The ref restrains him and Punk walks to the back, holding his championship high.
Winner and STILL ECW Champion: CM Punk
A video re-capping the Ric Flair/MVP feud airs. Looks like this match is up next and its career threatening for Flair. They show the history between the two men, including Flair winning the United States Championship from MVP at the Royal Rumble. Then, it shows MVP's two straight wins over Batista and Rey Mysterio. This match should be awesome.
United States Championship/Career Threatening Match- Ric Flair (c) v. MVP
Montel made his way out to the ring first and was greeted with many many boos and also a ton of woooos! Crowd is 100% behind Flair in this match. Flair makes his way to the ring and gets the biggest pop of the night. The whole Nevada crowd basically blows the roof off the building and Flair is very graceful. These two lock up to start the match off and Flair wants a test of strength from the kid. MVP accepts only to be kicked in the gut. Old Flair tatics there. Flair then goes to work with some right hands to the jaw of MVP. He gets him in the corner and you all know what is coming. Some hard knife edge chops to the chest of MVP. The crowd joins in with a big WOOOO! during all of the chops. Flair then works over MVP's arm and continues to do that for quite some time. Porter does finally gain advantage back though. He nails a hard DDT that plants Flair's face directly into the mat. Flair looks out of it now and his old age has really caught up to him. MVP then gets technical and uses some mat wrestling to wear the legend down. Porter attempts a Playmaker, but Flair battles out of it and locks in the figure four. MVP is right near the ropes though and he battles out of it. Flair doesn't stop working on Porter's legs. He hits various knee to knee drops and leg holds. He goes back for the Figure Four, but MVP knocks him over. MVP then plants his elbow into the knee of Flair. That has to hurt! Porter gives Flair a Balllin'! elbow drop and gets a close two count. These two have already been battling for close two 10 minutes now and Flair is wiped. MVP attempts another Playmaker in the center of the ring, but it is reversed. Flair locks in the Figure Four and MVP is about to tap. He drags Flair and himself over to the ropes with all his might and gets to them. Flair cannot believe the resilience in this match. MVP quickly rolls Flair up and gets a CLOSE two count. So close! Flair's career almost just ended. MVP then goes to lock a Figure Four of his own in and he does! MVP gets the figure four on Flair and Flair is thriving in pain! He gets to the ropes, but MVP refuses to let go of the hold. The ref counts to 5 and disqualifies MVP. Flairs keeps his career and United States title. it takes 3 more refs for MVP to break the hold. Flair is grabbing his knee in brutal pain on the ground. The refs check on him as MVP walks up the ramp, happy with what he has done.
Winner and STILL United States Champion by disqualification: Ric Flair
Shawn Michaels is shown backstage now. He is sitting on the bench in his locker room thinking about tonight. Triple H walks into the room and just looks at Shawn. Michaels stands up, gets right into Hunter's face and tells him that no matter what they do to eachother tonight, their friendship will never die. They shake hands. This segment was really intense. You can feel some much tension between the two.
A video package highlighting Randy Orton's WWE Title reign and his dominance airs. Then, DH Smith is thrown into this package. Looks like the WWE Championship match is next folks! This one should be good.
WWE Championship Match-Randy Orton (c) v. DH Smith
DH Smith is the first one out and he gets a nice hand from the crowd. Smith does look just like his dad in so many ways. Hopefully, he doesn't suffer the same fate as his dad. Smith looks really pumped tonight, his first real big match. Orton is out next and forget it. The crowd doesn't stop booing. Orton just smirks at the crowd, he loves when he is booed, he totally feeds off of it. It makes his matches better. These two stare eachother down and then Orton finally throws the first right hand to the jaw of Smith. They are now slugging it back and fourth in the center of the ring. Orton tries and slows down the younger Smith, but Smith's power just overkills Orton's. Smith hits a shoulder block that takes Orton down to the ground. Smith works on Orton while he is on the ground, stomping away at his chest. Smith doesn't let up on his attack and really starts to dominate the WWE Champion. Smith, although, is young and he made a key mistake. Leaving Orton alone for a minute or two. Orton hit various uppercuts and punches to wear the big guy down. Randy then nailed a backbreaker that he usually does and got a two count on it. Its going to take more than that Orton, this kid is seriously intense. Smith got the advantage back and pretty much held it the whole match. It looked like Smith had Orton done for. DH hit a Running Powerslam and he gets the 3?!! DH Smith is your new World champion! Wait...WAIT! Orton's foot was on the rope and Smith cannot believe it. He just started tasting gold, but he just fell short. Orton then came back with a low blow that the ref missed and nailed a RKO for the win. Kind of a lackluster match, but still pretty good. Orton got in Smith's face, saying that he is just like his daddy. Orton posed on the rampway as we cut away.
Winner and STILL WWE Champion: Randy Orton
We go backstage once again, where Ken Kennedy is standing in his locker room. He looks extremely in the zone and intense in his face. Could he be the next #1 contender? We will find out soon enough.
A Wrestlemania 24 promo aired. Its only 42 days away! "Let it Die" by the Foo Fighters plays as the promo airs. The Hall of Fame inductees begin tomorrow night on RAW! Don't miss it!
A video plays and its just a black screen with muffle audio. At the end of this video, the screen goes completely black and you can clearly hear someone say, "Right now, I am wanted...DEAD OR ALIVE!"
A video of Edge/Chavo/Rey/Taker feud airs. This match is next guys!
Edge & Chavo Guerrero (w/The Edgeheads) v. Undertaker & Rey Mysterio
Edge and Chavo came out together and they came out first. Boos all around for them. The crowd really hates this team right here, a bunch of Undertaker and Rey signs in the crowd. Edge looks pumped just like he did on Friday. Chavo stretches as Rey Mysterio makes his way down to the ring. Rey looks good tonight and he has the crowd in his corner. He awaits his partner outside the ring and the lights go out. Out comes the Deadman, the #1 contender for Edge's World Championship! This match is just about to get underway. Rey and Chavo start it off. These two have met some many times in the past, but everytime, they put on a show. Chavo gets the advantage first off. Chavo looked just like his Uncle here, really hitting a face pace offense. Rey did go along with it though and matched Chavo move for move. Chavo got fed up with Rey and tagged in Edge. Edge greets Rey with a nice right hand. Edge used more a power oriented offense here. He needed to slow Rey down and he did an excellent job. Edge hit a reverse DDT, which hasn't been seen in forever. That was a real treat for me. Edge and Chavo then made quick tags, going after Rey. Rey tried many times to get to his corner, but they pulled him back. Eventually, he did make it to that corner and tag the Deadman in. The ultimate hot tag here. He was on fire. He took Chavo down with ease and tossed him out of the ring. He wanted Edge in the ring, but Edge said no and backed down. Well, Taker bought him in anyway. He went to work on Edge, the man he will challenge. Elbows to the face, followed by punches to the face. Edge did reverse this and get the advantage back to his team. Rey and Chavo are fighting on the outside, leaving the two big boys in the ring. Chavo though, eventually got back into the ring, since he was the legal man. He went straight for the Deadman's legs to wear him down and chop him like a tree. It worked and Undertaker was grounded. Chavo and Edge made heel tags again, working on Taker, until he got a tag to Rey. Rey then exploded from some regained energy. He dropped the dime on Edge and sent him to the outside. He hit a 619 on Chavo and was about to pin him when he tagged Taker in and Taker finished Chavo off with a Tombstone for the win! Rey and the Undertaker are able to beat the World champion and his partner! What a great match here. Rey and Taker celebrated as we cut away.
Winners: The Undertaker & Rey Mysterio
Another Wrestlemania promo aired. 42 Days!
Ric Flair is backstage about to leave when Batista approaches him. Batista congratulates Ric on his huge win tonight, but it could've came at a price. Batista said that he hopes Ric heels well and he will see him on friday. Flairs says alright and walks off, not with much energy.
The same video as before aired about the elimination chamber. Its main event time folks and we saved the chamber for last! This match is not for small children and they should be put to bed.
Elimination Chamber; Winner Faces Orton/Smith at Wrestlemania!-Santino Marella v. Triple H v. Shawn Michaels v. Chris Jericho v. JBL v. Ken Kennedy
Here we go, its Chamber time ladies and gentleman! Lillian Garcia reviews the rules of the elimination chamber and the crowd is already on fire. The first four men to come out will be entered into a chamber. First out is none other than Chris Jericho! Chris gets a decent pop from the crowd and he looks really good tonight. He enters his chamber and stands in there. He is no stranger to the chamber. Out next, JBL! Wow, so these two men will have to wait for each one to get out. JBL stares right at Jericho and spits at his chamber. That gets Jericho going, but he is locked in. JBL is booed as he is locked into his chamber. After JBL, next to come out is Santino Marella! No Maria tonight, just Santino by himself. He looks nervous here, because he is playing with the big boys. He gets situated in his chamber and he is locked in. The last man to get a chamber is Ken Kennedy! So, this means that Shawn Michaels and Triple H will start the match against each other! Michaels comes out first and gets a huge pop. A HUGE POP! He awaits his best friend. Triple H comes out to the same amount of pop. This crowd is evenly split. The bell rings and we are underway finally! It takes a bit for these two to lock up, but they eventually do and Triple H gets a clear advantage. But Michaels takes it right back. These two guys are so even, they know eachother like a book. Triple H quickly picks up the pace though and hits a clothesline to take Michaels down momentarily. The countdown clock is going and someone is coming out. The bell sounds and out comes Ken Kennedy! Kennedy runs straight at Michaels and starts hammering at him on the floor. Triple H doesn't like this strategy and goes after Kennedy. Triple H tosses him to the metal part of the outside and its back to just Michaels and Triple H. They lock up again and this time Michaels gets the advantage until Kennedy comes running back in. Kennedy hits a nice armbar take down on Michaels. The chamber clock is winding down again and this time Santino Marella is the man who is coming out. it takes Marella about two minutes to get out there since he is so afraid. He joins the Shawn Michaels attack, but Triple H wakes up and takes out Kennedy. He works Kennedy over in the corner and Marella has Michaels on the ground in the other corner. Santino locks in a triangle hold, but Michaels grabs the ropes. Chamber clock is coming down again and out comes JBL! So only Chris Jericho is left not to come in the match. JBL stands back and lets other people do the work. He then walks over to Jericho's chamber and waits for the clock to tick down, just staring at Jericho. Kennedy and Marella are working Michaels over while Triple H is down in the corner. A double flapjack to the showstopper! Triple H then greets Marella with a running knee lift for a close two count. Finally, the chamber clock is down and out comes Chris Jericho. Jericho and JBL go right at it, slugging away at eachother. Jericho's shots are hitting the mark and he gets more in. He throws JBL against the steel that surrounds them. He then runs and gives JBL two knees to the face! Crowd loves that move! Meanwhile, Triple H is about to hit a pedigree on Marella, but Kennedy stops him and goes after Triple H. Marella thinks he has escaped, but he is met by a Superkick from Michaels and he gets eliminated. Santino Marella is the first man gone. Jericho and JBL are still slugging away on the outside, and its getting gruesome. Layfield goes to throw Jericho into the chamber doors, but Jericho reverses and JBL tastes the doors. Shawn Michaels and Triple H double team Kennedy in the ring and toss him over the ropes. They lock up once more, to see who is the better man. Triple H throws Michaels in the corner and gives him a running knee to the gut. Jericho meanwhile has got JBL set up for a codebreaker and he is just stalking JBL when Kennedy comes from behind and nails a mic check on the steel on Jericho. He only gets a two somehow and Jericho stays alive, but he is busted open. Triple H and Michaels are still battling in the ring and neither man is really getting an advantage. Ken Kennedy has set Jericho up against the Chamber doors. He is motioning something to JBL. JBL turns around and runs directly at Jericho and nails a CLOTHESLINE FROM HELL THROUGH THE CHAMBER DOORS! The doors shatter and both men are out cold. Kennedy, the smart man, pins JBL and gets a 3 count. He then rolls a bloody Chris Jericho into the ring to do more work. Triple H sees him out of the corner of his eye and goes straight for him. Triple H then hits a big double a spinebuster on Kennedy and he also gives Michaels one. Somehow, someway Chris Jericho is stirring. Triple H also gives him one. He then gives Jericho a good ole Pedigree and gets the 3 count. We are done to 3 men now! Kennedy, Michaels, and Triple H. Triple H and Michaels double team Kennedy to get him out of the way. Michaels hits him with a superkick and then a Pedigree for good measure. Triple h pins Kennedy and we are down to two men. The same two men who started the match. They lock up once more and this time Michaels gets the advantage. He starts beating on the game in the corner and starts to feel it rushing in his vains. He is quickly stopped when he is met by a right hand. These two battle back and fourth, both going for their finisher. The match is well over 25 minutes now and both men are exhausted. Triple H sees an opening and goes for a Pedigree, but a back body drop from Michaels. Shawn then tunes up the bad and BAM! Sweet Chin MUSIC! 1.........2.......3!!!! YES! Shawn Michaels has done it! He has won his second elimination chamber! My god what a match! Michaels, who can barely move, gets help from the ref and gets his hand raise. Confetti falls from the ceiling as No Way Out ends with Shawn Michaels standing over Triple H celebrating!
Winner: Shawn Michaels
