"Thorn In Your Eye" by Such a Surge hits the arena as the RAW is WAR video plays on the titantron. It ends as we go to the arena and RAW's secondary theme hits. A firework falls from the roof and falls onto the stage, creating a large firework display before the crowd. The camera scrolls throughout the arena as the crowd cheer, showing off their signs before we zoom into the RAW is WAR logo on the tron. Jim Ross and Paul Heyman recap what previously happened on SmackDown and RAW is WAR from last week, reminding us of the brutal tag team no holds barred match from last week's SmackDown. We are also reminded that Rock and Austin will sign the contract seperately here tonight after a massive brawl broke out on SmackDown last Thursday.
The commentators finish their revival of the week as 'Latino Heat' begins to make his way to the ring with the WWE European title around his waist. He gets into the ring and immediately starts off with a cheap heat move by dissing the Green Bay crowd for their football team. Eddie then moves on to insult Tazz in spanish in which later on Paul Heyman confirms Eddie to have called him a stumpy, little fat lousy commentator. Eddie then pronounces these words again however this time in English but it is short-lived as some extremely familiar music plays in the arena. Seconds later we see Rikishi step out onto the stage, the crowd now on his side. Rikishi walks to the ring and Eddie jokes about how Rikishi was injured because he fell on his ass. Rikishi, detested, kicks Eddie in the face as the two brawl and a referee enters the ring.
Match #1
Non-Title Match
Rikishi vs. Eddie Guerrero (c)
The bout was a little bit sloppy and the fans were into it but not as usual. It seemed as though Rikishi had developed ring-rust at times, either that or he tried his hardest not to sell any moves. Eddie was dominated for the full length of the match, gaining only a two minute time length of momentum. Thev match lasted six minutes, in which most of it Rikishi delivered samoan drop after scoop slam after headbutts. Eddie eventually used a dirty tactic and kicked the Phat Man below the belt and took out the knee of the big man. Eddie worked on it before trying to get in a figure-four just to get a boot up the ass. Rikishi nailed Eddie with the Rikishi Driver follows up by a sit-down onto the chest of Eddie before the match was over and done with. Post match, Rikishi began to dance as Eddie rolled out of the ring and headed up the ramp just to get thrown back into the ring by Tazz before holding him in the corner. Rikishi realised this and several seconds later, Latino Heat got a piece of Rikishi's ass.
Winner - Rikishi
We head to the back where we see D-Von and Bubba Ray Dudley arriving to the arena, Bubba telling D-Von how big an opportunity he has when he faces Rhyno for the Hardcore Championship tonight. D-Von then wishes Bubba luck before telling Bubba that he's gonna go and prepare for his big 6-man tag match with the Hardy Boyz against Edge and X-Factor.
Match #2
Six-Man Tag Team
D-Von Dudley and Hardy Boyz vs. Edge and X-Factor
A decent match, it was better than the previous bout which is always a good thing. The crowd were into it, as the match quality reigned supreme. What was weird however was the fact that D-Von was on his own and with two men in which a year and two months seperated would of been his enemies. However both teams showed to have skill as a trio, and the match went a fair 10 and-a-half minutes long. D-Von and Edge [aka the Odd Pair] started off, in which D-Von easily out-wrestled the WWF Tag Team Champion. D-Von eventually grounded Edge and trapped him in the corner, inviting Jeff and Matt into the ring despite only tagging in Matt. The three did a Poetry in Motion on him but then Edge caught Jeff off-guard with a Spear and soon in came X-Pac. X-Factor dominated the younger Hardy for a while before Hardy reversed a flapjack and Matt got a tag. He cleaned house until X-Pac got a win out of nowhere with a roll up using the tights for leverage.
Winners - Edge and X-Factor
Match #3
WWF Hardcore Championship
Rhyno (c) vs. Bubba Ray Dudley
In the back. it appeared as though the Hardcore title match had already began as Bubba Ray took down Rhyno in the locker room. The crowd were very impressed with it, and these two had fantastic chemistry in there. Bubba Ray used a stool to knock the Man Beast out only to get a near fall. Rhyno then gained some momentum as he slammed the door into Bubba's face. The two traded blows, leading themselves out into the open backstage area. Here, Rhyno smacked Bubba in the back with a stop sign before ramming a trolley into Bubba's ribs. Rhyno took Bubba for a ride as he rode the cart with Bubba on down the corridor down some steps! Rhyno covered before D-Von suddenly made the save from behind! Edge then nailed the interfering D-Von with a spear into a metal door before Rhyno and Bubba began to make their ways up the steps. Bubba Ray used the floor to stand up just to get a Gore, sending him down the steps and getting the three count at the six minute mark. Rhyno struggled to his feet as the metal door opened and out came the WWF Hardcore Champion's enemy, Raven! Edge and Rhyno ran for cover, rushing out to the parking lot before getting into a parked car.
Winner - Rhyno (c)
We return from the commercials to see the car with Edge and Rhyno in, there's a voice-over of them speaking, telling one another to go and get the car keys from the locker room, both ending up playing rock, paper, sissors. However then we see the APA standing outside, a baseball bat in one hand, Bradshaw holding the car keys in the other. Bradshaw swings into the windshield as Edge and Rhyno try desperately to crawl into the back just for the back of the car to get whacked in by Faarooq. Edge and Rhyno dive out of the door and run for their lives out of the parking lot.
A clip from last week's SmackDown airs, reminding us about how Benoit actually thought about the McMahon-Helmsley Regime's offer to join the faction and rule the WWF. We head to the back where we see Benoit, getting ready for his bout, jumping up and down on the spot. Suddenly, Triple H, Vince and Stephanie McMahon along with William Regal enter the room. McMahon asks Benoit if he has considered joining them yet. Benoit says that he thought about it and declined the offer just to get knocked to the floor by the right hand of Triple H. Regal and the Game toss Benoit into the wooden locker before tossing it over, squashing the Wolverine. JR and Heyman then tell us that Benoit and Undertaker's match with Triple H and Kurt Angle is next!
Match #4
Tag Team Match
Undertaker and Chris Jericho vs. Triple H and Kurt Angle
The crowd thoroughly enjoyed this bout, prior to the match, Chris Jericho came out and offered to help Undertaker out against the Regime, making comical references at the same time. The match began with Jericho taking on one of his opponents for Sunday's Backlash. The two showed alot of skill and ground wrestling technique. Eventually, Angle found an open in which he took advantage of a lion sault into a german suplex [Jericho landed on his feet from the springboard moonsault]. Angle then stomped away on Y2J before tagging in Triple H who then assisted in taking out the Intercontinental Champion. Jericho eventually reversed a lifting knee to the head into a manhatten drop before tagging in Undertaker. Triple H cowered off, giving Angle a blind tag before rolling out of the ring and fleeing up the ramp. Undertaker made quick work of the Olympian, giving him a Chokeslam followed by with a Last Ride and covering for the victory. Jericho celebrated as Undertaker stares down Triple H, mouthing that at Backlash he would be happy to put the Game to rest.
Winners - Undertaker and Chris Jericho
In the back, we see an extremely small Michael Cole talk about rivalries and includes the battle of the titans between Kane and Big Show, signed for Backlash. Show then appears on screen and talks trash about how Kane is an ugly son of a gun. He then promises that at Backlash he would unmask Kane, making him look very stupid before taking the mask as a trophy. He then slams the microphone into Cole's chest and walks away.
We head to the McMahon-Helmsley Regime's locker room, where we see Austin seated on the black leather coach, staring at his WWF Championship, he waits patiently before Vince McMahon walks into the room and asks Austin if he's ready to see the commissioner kick the Rock's ass. Austin ignores it and takes the contract from Vince as the commissioner walks into the room, getting set for his match with Rock. Austin lifts up a sheet and writes his signature on the dotted line before passing it to Regal and walking away. McMahon tells Regal that Austin is worried about losing the WWF title and tells Regal that he will be the richest English wrestler in the world if he busts the Rock open and injures him tonight.
Match #5
Singles Match
The Rock vs. William Regal
A very good main event, everything was perfect, the match quality, the crowd loved it, even the announcers praised both men. This bout lasted nearly twenty minutes, in which Rock and Regal traded blows, this was a very back and forth contest between two men who truly hated each other's guts. Rock got an early start as he easily dominated Regal for the first five minutes, nailing the bumbling brit in the head and sending him packing, over the top rope. The crowd loved the Rock as he posed on the top rope. However Regal then re-entered the ring and before you knew it, Regal was stomping away at the ankle of the People's Champ. Regal really went at it on Rock's ankle, injuring dropping knees and elbows onto the ankle and even applying the STF but Rock got to the ropes. Regal used his infamous european uppercuts, obviously trying to do what McMahon told him to do and bust Rock open. However then Rock fought back with lefts and rights before nailing him with the Rock Bottom! Rock went to follow up with the People's Elbow but then Austin ran down the ramp and nailed Rock with the metal clipboard! Austin stomped on the back of Rock's head before busting him open using the WWF title belt. Austin dropped the contract onto the floor and dipped the papers into Rock's head before celebrating over the downed contender!
Winner - The Rock
