Is it me or did WRESTLEMANIA the arcade game and IYH have better graphics than the games of today. The characters looked wayyy more lifelike and everything. I know the gameplay was arcady but the characters looked like the real wrestlers.

What games are you playing? Those graphics are horrible if you compare to the current graphics.

I loved how the moves were motion captured. Made them look awesome.

I could be wrong but I think the characters were life like, since they were just pictures of the actual wrestlers. Just like Mortal Kombat was done.

That image above is from either the PS2 or the actual arcade version. For the time it looked great but as said before, it's just the picture of the wrestler put into 2D form. Find me a SNES game that has realistic looking sweat, facial expressions and a realistic looking environment.

...this AGAIN? And this is a minor point (because the topic is about the style of graphics and not the systems) but IYH was on PS1, not SNES. SNES games (generally, and are probably better known to) look like:

I don't remember these sort of games too well but my main problem is the fact that the snes graphics was basically a bunch of images stringed together which is very jumpy. The arena is basically just a motionlesse image aswell. SNES wrestling games were basically just interactive GIF animations you can do the same stuff in flash. SVR however is a fully rendered model with much smoother animations probably averaging at 900 hundred frames per move rather than 3 or 4. Comparing the two is kinda stupid, SVR has great graphics and IMO SNES wrestling games are just glorified animations, great at the time though just dont match up graphics wise to anything now.

The best part of the SNES games were the bucket outside the ring and beating the ref so much that he just throws his hands up and leaves the match.
...I had so much fun with the game that I never noticed the mirrored turnbuckle logos..

IYH was such a great game. I specifically remember blue Vader making his way down to the ring during a battle royale when I had a powercut.

Those featured a pretty common graphics trick going around at the time because 3D polygonal characters weren't really main stream enough yet, and sprites weren't effect when trying to represent real world characters, since they are essentially literal digitized images. They look impressive because they are small pictures on the screen. They are simply flat, they have no depth, so the details can look better.

+ Fire Pro gameplay + updated roster = gold. Unfortuantly, CAWs would be impossible to make look good compared to the real life sprites.

Not a chance. The handhelds of today beat the SNES graphics wise.
