So the marvel.com poll to decide the greatest Marvel Comics cover of all time is done, and the winner is Jim Lee's X-Men #1. marvel.com/toys/legends.htmSo this will be getting the MArvel legends treatment in some as-yet-unspecified manner. I'm guessing it'll be one of those mini-statues they're calling Marvel Legends Masterworks. Although with 13 characters on the cover, it'd make for a great 12 figure series (leave Brown Costume Wolverine out, since we already have a perfect version of him): Jean Grey-orange and blue number Professor X- jacketless with Shi'ar hoverchair Storm- white version of ML8, new head Beast- re-release of ML4...it's been a while since that one came out, so it gives new fans a chance to get an older figure Gambit- re-release of ML4, ditto Archangel- XMC re-release, with new action-less wings Colossus- ML5 re-release Psylocke- all new Rogue- X-Men Boxset revamp, with new head and switch to Black Widow-style hips Iceman- ML8 with new head and paint job Cyclops- XMC re-release Magneto- all new

I actually remember that cover, as when I used to draw I drew that cover on a big poster. I think I still have it somewhere, but if memory serves me correct I gave it to someone.

I won't lie, most of what X-Men comics I read as a teenager, were Jim Lee. And I still like his Cyclops over the classic condom head version. And they'd better redo Iceman. That black costume Spidey body is crapollla.

Oh yeah, that was a sweet cover. Kamb is right, that is the better version of Cyclops. Should make for a good figure line, really, the only reason I got into MLs is to build an X-Men team, I've gotten in late in the game, but with the exception of 2 chacters, all my MLs are X-Men universe related Also, any reason to get a Prof. X in hoverchair is great for me....

I have that comic . Man I do love that cover. The Maximum Carnage Amazing Spiderman ones rock too. Todd McFarlane's Spider #1 is also sexy.

I'm close to having every cover for it. Still need Magneto. But having a Jim Lee-inspired line makes me wonder how they'll come out in comparison to the DC Select Hush figures.

That's what i was wondering. I am glad Jim Lee's cover won but I wonder how the figures would turn out, especially with all the articulation they have. I think all the poseable features would hurt the style of the figures. The Hush figures are awesome and they captured his style very well. I just think if they do a Legends line it will be more of the same, except the costume designs will be the same as lee, but the gures may not be in his style.

It's a cool cover... but a bit of a waste of a chance to get some figures we wouldn't get other wise.
The only ones that would interest me are Psylocke and Archangel but I doubt I'll be buying a big set for two figures

yeah that's definitly an iconic comic cover, I'd like the winner of the competition to be something else but who knows? Maybe all the figures will be molded to actually LOOK like the Jim Lee drawings. I don't think Beast or Colossus were molded form the Lee illustrations. We'll see. Glad I'll be able to get an Arch-angel afterall

Don't forget, there's no garuntee we'll going to see action figures based on this cover. Marvel.com very specifically said it would be the basis for an as-yet undisclosed Marvel Legends-type project. If it was going to be an action figure line, they probably would have just said that up front instead of being so cryptic.

I actually remember that cover, as when I used to draw I drew that cover... As did I. If only I still had my old sketch books...

I think it is still the best selling comic of all time. Probably due to it's 5 variant covers, and the fact that it came out in the peak of the collector's boom, so everyone and their mom was picking up 5 copies each.
