I was able to get a Viper from an awesome guy (who’s name I won’t disclose lol) from Hasbro who really came through and a Firefly through PJ. This line is a complete pain in the you know where but I am so grateful for collectors like these guys who really make it all worth it.

Seriously happy that a few of us got to get our hands on these ones. But that doesn't change the fact that most of us have a chance in hell of ever getting Viper for under $100. Not to mention some past figures that were near impossible to find in stores like Baroness, Cobra Trooper, and Beach Head. I collected all of them up until these two came out but at this point I'm probably just going to hang up the gloves on these. I definitely love this line, but certainly not enough to be spending $100+ per figure. Pretty sure I'm done. I also want to mention that I've read on here that a lot of WWE figure collectors were hoping that Hasbro takes over the WWE figure line when/if Mattel ever stops. Well, this GI Joe line should be giving them all second thoughts on that. If these are near impossible to find then just imagine how hard WWE figures will be. I like Hasbro, but not that much.

The target exclusives for the WWE stuff is almost as bad as the GI Joe’s. I want to support the GI Joe line, but can’t/won’t be at a store 30 minutes before it opens to possibly wait for them to find then in the back.

But to be honest, just one time I would love to wait in line for Target to open and get to something like these right before a scalper does, and buy every last one of them just to see the priceless look on his face just once. I mean, I'm all for someone grabbing 2 of something that might be worth a few bucks in the future, hell I do that myself sometimes, but when someone runs in and buys every single one of them, I can't stand that. And then they think it's cool to post their eBay pics with 7 or 8 of them in the background. Yes, I have a deep hatred for this type of person. Save some for kids and collectors, ffs.

I didn't think the hunt for Viper or Firefly was that bad. It was a hunt, but not like Trooper. A few Targets kept them behind the electronics counter and a couple already restocked Viper once. Ebay prices are insane, almost or at least x3 retail, but not like the Trooper when it was on the shelves.
Now if I could just find Thrawn.

Kinda plays into what’s especially infuriating about the Joe exclusives. Like for Firefly, get 2 max for yourself or a friend and move on. But, when there’s an army builder like Vipers, it’s not super unreasonable for 1 person to buy up the store’s whole stock (which likely consists of 1 case). Just a couple weeks ago from an online retailer, I ordered 4 Storm Troopers and 6 Clone Troopers. Scalpers are always in the wrong, and putting army builders in a wave primed for scalpers has the potential of making a real collector look bad who just legitimately wanted to army build. I don’t really bother with the Target figures. When they go up for preorder, I’ll check if I can get anything (knowing I won’t) but I won’t specifically go to the store to find them. However, if I saw a case of Vipers while I happened to be at Target, I might grab 4 for my personal collection, especially knowing it’s probably the only time I’ll ever see them. If I saw a case of Firefly figures though, I’d only get one since he’s a unique character.

I'm only a little into this line with Snake Eyes, Destro, and Storm Shadow, but there's pretty much no doubt that I'd be mostly all in if they were accessible. I'd definitely have Firefly and a Viper if I'd ever seen them during my many recent trips to Target. For now I'll be done and be fine with it, but it's a shame how hard to collect the line immediately became.

So I finally opened the retros and thank goodness these weren't the 3 3/4 Joes I grew up playing with. The hands are terrible, they can barely hold the weapons and the backpack pegs wont stay in the backs for Scarlett and Storm Shadow. I'm sure these were intended for collectors to keep MOC but ugh. I was planning to keep them MOC until Walmart shipped three of them in envelopes and wrecked the packaging. Was going to display these with the new Classifieds but looks like they will probably end up in storage and I'll bring out the originals.

My town's Wal-Mart may have reset without any peg/shelf space for retro or Classified. Could be just my smaller store. I haven't been to the larger stores in my area since a the resets started.

These resets always crack me up with all the pegs they have for the various lines.
Like 3 pegs for Classifieds, which will have figures on them for a day or so every couple months when they get one case that immediately sells out. Same with the Joe Retros, WWE Ultimate Edition, Masters of the WWE Universe, Marvel Legends Retros, etc.
Walmart and Target could make their action figure aisles half their size and still have everything displayed if they made a "almost never in stock" section that shared the empty pegs. I have no idea why they put out shelf tags for stuff they'll stock one time.
*rant over*
