X-Men, X-Men, saves the day, saves the day
I beg it of you... Ok, let's start with what I think is good news (although it's only fair that I should point out there are people out there who disagree with me... fair enough). There are more still pics from X-Men 3 being released, and personally I think they all look really good. The good folks over at Dark Horizons have a whole load of them you can see.
I'm also really warming up more and more to the look of both Juggernaut (Vinne Jones) and Beast (Kelsey Grammer). I think they both look great.
Now on the bad side of the news, the word is roaring around that Brett Ratner is being harshly rushed and under financed with this project. The studio made the decision that come hell or high water X-Men 3 MUST MUST MUST be released BEFORE Superman Returns (I can understand why). The result is that Ratner doesn't have the time to fix some things he wanted to fix, nor does he have the money to do so.
Yikes! Well... here's hoping he can pull it off. I'm nervous about the X-Men again.
Well, while the source of this news is rather anonymous, if it is indeed factual, then I will be very interested to see how Ratner handles the situation. Who knows, perhaps he'll do us good? Or crash and burn.

it'll burn and I'll be happy... not because I hate X-Men, but because I love them. I don't want to see a product that's half-assed, so maybe if it bombs it'll be killed off and if it does great, then maybe X-Men 4 will get the respect and attention it deserves

This only reconfirms to me that X3 is in trouble. Just a few days ago, Attack of the Show said there was an auction for a set visit to X3 and they questioned why it was even still shooting...so I guess that was NOT a rumor now. If they arent even into pickups and reshoots yet...well, the only thing spectacular about rushed productions is how brilliantly they go boom.
Still, even with Ratner at the helm, why would Fox hamper one of its only successful franchises-especially with Wolverine and Magneto spinoffs in the works? The only two things I can think of is either someone at Fox wants to reprioritise their interests and hopefully kill the franchise OR they've seen versions of this and they know it'll bomb so why bother tossing more money at it.

It is a rarity that a sequel be better than the original. Fortunately, in my opinion, X-Men 2 succeeded the original film.
It would be a bad thing (e.g., for fans, comic movies, etc.) if X-3 concluded the movie series on a sour note.

Brett Ratner takes a lot of heat, but I trust him with this film.
People say he's a bad director, but I actually enjoyed Red Dragon. Even if it they just ripped off some older film's plot and fused it with the Hannibal Lector universe.
If the guy's smart enough to put Omega Red in it, he's competent enough to direct this movie.

*A camera pans across a ravaged pyramid location, as the dust blows sand around the dawn sky*
*The scene speeds up as the sun quickly rises from the death of sand and wind*
*The camera rapidly zooms in and into the pyramid and inside of a stone chamber*
*Two eyes glow red and faintly expose its gray flesh*
*Fade to black*
Movie Trailer Guy: "Chris Tucker... is... Apocalypse."
*Apocalypse eats a bucket of fried chicken*
Move Trailer Guy: "X-4: 'Oh Snap, Sucka!' Coming Soon!"

I just want to see the slight hint at Apocalypse they will give at the end. I mean, seeing Apocalypse in movie-form would be ing scarey as hellllll.

It's always surprising when directors don't get the chance to do exactly what they want. We get the impression, and it happens often enough, that directors do get that chance and take great pride in saying that they paid attention to every last detail.
Still, it should be a fantastic movie.
