I agree, most cops around here are like that. They always seem to pull over young kids in honda's & old people w/ beat up cars that probably don't have much money in the first place. I've NEVER seen a biker, or someone w/ an expensive suv pulled over. There's a fella that lives near me with a newer escalade truck that NEVER stops....or really even slows down at a stop sign on a fairly well traveled road, even when there's a cop that hides behind a school that's right beside this stop sign. What's up with that? The dude could cause a serious accident, but no, they're rather pull over a 18 year old with a loud muffler, or a 70 year old woman because she has an out dated car....because ya know....those things are really posing a huge threat..... Another thing I hate is when cops hide behind banks and larger parked cars, bushes....pretty much whatever, more so when it's on someone's private property....wtf? If I did that it'd be called trespassing. Don't get me wrong there are definatly good cops out there. There's one that lives near me who is really nice & honest. It just seems like today, there are more that take the low road & are pretty shady.

You do know that, with the invention of mufflers that are intentionally loud, most cities are enforcing the ordinance about noise pollution, right? If you muffler was loud, he had every damn reason to give you a ticket.
I'm 23, and got my license when I was 16. That seven years. I haven't had a single ticket, been pulled over, etc. You know why? Because I don't get behind the wheel, and act like a moron.
You're not being profiled. You obviously broke the law.

I dunno bout the noise pollution law but im pretty sure its a law everywhere that you are suppose to maintain the maintenance of your vehicle. IF the entire story is just the muffler and you WERE gonna go get it fixed. If you just have if fixed then go to court or sheriffs dept and show them where you had it fixed they usually dismiss the ticket. As Ralpho said though, $300 for a broken muffler, sounds like theres more to the story then you're telling

You cant give a ticket for a loud muffler. Yes you can. There are noise ordinances on the books in virtually every city and township around. On top of that, you mentioned that it's been this way for a while. It could be that it's been annoying your neighbors for a long time so they were waiting for you because the neighbors have been complaining continually.
