Just curious as to the general consensus around here regarding TNA's alleged claims of being more "serious" in the ring. I mean the MMA thing I guess is a step in the right direction albeit a step sideways imo. Do you think this is all just chatter or do you think that they will take a more serious approach to their product? Will it do anything for the ratings?

I want them to be serious, but not with this MMA crap. We will see how it goes at Lockdown I guess if I can find it for free but I don't think it is going to work, unless it is just being more stiff.

This is really a case of not forgetting the past. They really need to watch the final year of WCW and realise how close they are getting to it.

Until they fire Russo, they'll never be serious

They'll be serious when they realize that the talent that they currently have is better than any ex-wwe superstar they can get.

If Super Eric and Stone Cold Sharkboy is what they call serious, then they're in trouble.

Haven't you ever heard of gimmicks before? Its a great break from the no character Indy Wrestlers they used to be, seriously they had no character whatsoever, the Super Eric thing is pretty decent gives the fans a laugh on occasion.

Rellik and Black Reign rock! Maybe, maybe not, but hey, at least its something TNA created. Guess again... And as for Rellik, that's just Johnny Stamboli in a Great Muta mask, and he was using that gimmick in the Indies (as well as a few WWE dark matches) under the name Redrum.

I have to kinda say that they are serious about it I do not really view it as last year of WCW type, but it seems more of them poking fun at their competition kinda like original ECW did from time to time I would be fore them Ditching Russo though and trading him out for Paul Heyman or Tod Gordon if Heyman someone who is better with money though

If they hired Heyman in a strictly creative role (i.e., giving him Russo's job), things would work out. I've always said that if TNA wants to succeed, they need Heyman in a creative capacity, with Lance Storm as a creative consultant (with occasional training duties).

Apparently they aren't very serious about "getting serious," because the more I watch of Impact, the more I'm annoyed and want to see them fail.

I like gimmicks, but when WWE did them, they were better. Comedy relief in wrestling is needed, but TNA's "comedy" isn't funny. It's like they put Jeff Dunham or Larry the Cable Guy in charge of comedy. Rellik I'm fine with, I support Stamboli trying something different. Black Reign, not so much, it's like Se7en mixed with Goldust.

Funny gimmicks are only funny if it's the first time they've been done.

Yeah they rock at making TNA look like a cross between a bush league wrestling promotion sponsored by iParty and a circus for the mentally handi-capped.

You have to love when they even mess up promos for there PPVs. Anyone notice last night on impact when they were talking about the Queen of the Cage match(or whatever that crap is called), they were advertising people for the match that arent even in the match. Way to be serious TNA, you will always be a 3rd class wrestling promotion. And thats being generous.

Yes, but the way they are booked is a joke. Why do TNA create monsters, and then just job them out, like they don't actually mean shit? They did the same thing with Judas Mesias. And, I don't see how Black Reign is a rip off of Goldust. Goldust was a golden, movie loving freak. Black Reign is a schizophrenic monster. Nothing 'Goldust' about his character at all, just the face paint.
