Hey guys! I just added some cool new custom components my arena set-up and I'd love to see what some of you think of it.
Generally, I consider my set-up rather simple. There are some really elaborate, cool looking arenas here, but I just enjoy playing and having matches and try to keep the maintenence and rebuilding of sets/etc. to a minimum. I try to keep it authentic and clean looking, but also simple and compact so I don't have to do much upkeep and can just enjoy playing without worrying about knocking over fragile sets and having a alot of items that I need to keep re-fixing and placing.
My entrance stage is very simple, sort of modeled after the little cage entrances they used for a few In Your House events in 1997.
I decided to make a lighting rig. I a little strand of lights from AC Moore and decided to hook it up to a little structure I made. It's just two of the pieces from the HIAC playset wired and taped together to make it secure. I then place the lights in it. I used the wire and some rope to set-up a system where it hangs from my ceiling securely.
I also made a rope/wire combination to hold suitcases/belts for ladder matches. The rope goes down right through the middle of the lighting rig so nothing gets tangled or interfers. Just a cool little accessory to make fun ladder matches.
The rest of my ring area is pretty simple and neat. i just have the ring, an outer ring mat covering the front and right side of the ring because that is where I play with the figures and what shows from the front. The outer mat and barrier is made from foamboard and wood covered in foam and then covered in black vinyl I got from an arts and crafts store. Its cool because it has a texture similar to real mats.
Below are just some action shots of some figures in the arena just showing some different views of the main arena:
Hope you guys dig it and I'd really appreciate feedback, thanks!
