I wasnt into wrestling in 2005 and recently I rented GAB 2005, and there was Undertaker vs Muhammed Hassan for the number 1 contender ship for the WHC. And I was wondering, did Taker ever get his title shot? I have been trying to find it on Youtube but cant find it at all. If someone could provide me a link, that would be great.

I heard somewhere the Hassan was originally suppose to win but then he was banned from TV so they had to have a face vs heel title match, especially since Summerslam was from Batista's hometown so I guess they had JBL wrestle him there.

Yeah, what everyone has said so far is basically right.
Rumors were that Hassan was going to fight Batista at SummerSlam and possibly win the World Title until on a July 2005 episode of SmackDown, Hassan did a "terrorist" angle the same night as the bombings in London. UPN demanded Hassan be removed from television, so his World Title win was scrapped and instead, he lost to Undertaker at GAB 2005 and was written out of storylines. It was also rumored that he would redebut on RAW sometime afterwards, but Hassan asked for his release instead and it was granted. Meanwhile, JBL challenged Taker to a match for his No.1 Contendership on SmackDown, and won the match after Randy Orton returned. Leading to Batista/JBL and Orton/Taker at SummerSlam.

Yeah, I remember Hassan was suppose to win but because of the controversy on his character, he had to be pulled from winning and pulled from WWE, therfor Undertaker had to win, then on Smackdown he fought JBL for that #1contender spot and lost it because of Orton.

Hassan as a World Champ woulda generate HUGE heel reactions to be honest, and woulda been great for the business.
It woulda create a huge scene in the media world., and hey, WWE loves free press regardless positive or negative!

Harshly coincidental that he did the terrorist angle when the 7/7 bombings took place.

I liked Hassan, and would've been... strange, if he won. Why was he fired, I don't think he ever lost, until he met Taker that is.

Vince basically went against all he believed, which is probably a sentiment to his respect for men overseas. Still, why have Sheik win the belt and basically allow heels to lead riots yet now... let's be nice on that one subject? Weak, I say leave it off TV or go for broke. The best thing that could have happened for Hassan is getting mega-heat. But than again, he could have not liked where it was going... just another hole in WWE booking.

Having Hassan win the World title would only suit one purpose. The same purpose that was served when Sheik won the title... To immensely put over the guy who took it off him. Which, judging by who beat Sheik, and by who beat Wacky Iraqi Sarge...consarnit, it would've been Hogan.
