So, now that its done, what did you think?
I was a little let down with SBP. I think he should have been killed off. Instead he remains an abberation to continuity and, potentially, an excuse for a giant event later on.
I do like how they hinted at the new continuity changes to the trinity. I guess "Smallville" is in continuity now, after a fashion. WW's origin is more silver age based, and Bats mission is again fueled more by personal sense of duty than personal anguish.
I'm curious to see the whole Flash backstory.
Best part? When Alex learned why you do not write off the Joker. Ever. And it also added that duality between him an Batman as Bruce ALSO had a gun to Alex's head but didnt pull the trigger. I really hope Joker is placed back at the top of Bat's rogues gallery.
Oh, and is that a NEW Batwoman in that last splash page? Kewl.

I was ok with the final issue.Sort of expected more,but really I can't think of what.If anything I may just be nit-picking because the ending was almost too open ended.I did ,however,love the Jokers role in this.I did not expect him to be included since he was ignored for the whole of the arc so far.......wonderful way to get him in there last minute.I agree it looks like Batman is going to be the character who changes the most from this storyline.Now whether or not it will benefiet him or hurt him will remain to be seen in my view.As far as SBP goes,I was really expecting him to be the character who really becomes "somebody" due to the series.So I figured he would not get killed off completey anyway.There always has to be one big ace up DC's collective sleeve when it comes to potentially getting out of a self dug hole.If this "new post crisis" era does not take off for some reason ,SBP could be the tool they need to "fix" it with yet another cataclysmic event.All in all I thought the story as a whole was a good read.I was a mark for the first 6 issues ,and I enjoyed #7 for what it was.

Overall, I really enjoyed it. Are they saying thay actually changed Bruce's origins that his parents survived? I don't know if I like that. I need to re-read it, to make sure I understand everything correctly. Leaving SBP around did seem kind of lame though. Joker taking out Alex was pretty awesome though.

No, Bats parents are still dead, just that the murderer is no longer mysterious and the case has long been solved. It was that way for years until Zero Hour made the killer unknown. I like that because it lets Bruce have that resolved while continuing his mission.

I gotcha. Honestly, in the 25 years I have been reading Batman, they have flip flopped so much on his origin, and his parent's death, that it's hard for me to keep it straight.

The Joker part was amazing. And I get what you're saying on SBP, but think about it this way: they could have killed him off and still brought him back to use in a future event in one way or another.
I was a bit confused with the Flash stuff, but with the new Flash series coming, I don't care. I'll just ride along and see what happens.

I have to admit that I am confused with the Flash stuff as well. But I have been since they took SBP into the speed force. The way they handled the character of SBP losing it was very well done, and could be a very potentially cool villain in the future.

This was a BIG deal over at Newsarama because they retconned Linda Danver as Supergirl and some things Dan Didio said that the heroes remember EVERYTHING and how it all fits into continuity. It was making Trekkies look sane. I HATE continuity slavery (and I posted something along those lines) when it screws up telling a good story. They also retconned the "Formerly Known as the Justice League" series. That sucks, but the story still exists, so whatever. I just want a good story. IC was good. I don't care about the rest. |

I just feel that if he knew who did it, he wouldn't feel as dedicated to fighting crime because he has someone to focus all of his anguish on. Wheras, when he didn't know who killed them, all he knew was that it was "crime" that killed his parents, and therefore he would focus all of his frustrations on stopping "crime" because that is what killed his parents. I think that made sense. |

It also eventually made him a boring twat. That's my opinion, though. I LOVE Batman as a character and I was tired of his bitching and paranoia. It made him too weak a hero. This new Bats is much more interesting.

Bats' conversation with Bullock in Batman 652 is proof how cool he is again.
This issue was kinda lackluster; not bad per se, but issue 6 was much better. Still wrapped everything up nicely, and the panel (albeit a tiny one) with Robin seeing Superboy was pretty powerful.

I'll pick up JLA, simply because for the last 25 years, it's mostly been my favorite comic. I've always been a sucker for the "super groups." I read every issue of the last JLA series, and while the first year or two sucked pretty bad, it became a great read. I'll definately give it a chance.

Back-ups in 52 will have the new "definitive" origins of most of the heavy hitters. I jumped on JLA about a year ago not knowing much of their history, either. Give Justice League #0 a shot. |

I think it was the best way they could have ended that story, in all reality.
The Luthor/Joker scene was brilliant. I was really creeped out by SBP carving the sheild onto his chest. Plus I loved that he was locked in a room with a minature red sun, and had 50 Lanterns gaurding him at all times. Now that's serious.
I also loved Psycho Pirate's death. That was insane. I love Black Adam.
