I'm home form school, and I'm going to the doctors office at 11 I think. Usually when I think I have Strep throat, it's just a little more than a sore throat. But I know I have it now, this is terrible. Here are the symptoms, tell me what you think...
When I swallow, it hurts horribly bad on both sides of the back of my throat.
My mom looked inside, it's red and I have white patches on the back of my throat.
I'm starting to lose my voice.
It hurts where my tonsils are.
What do you think.

It can be Strep. I know I get it all the time. Any time your throat hurts, your tonsils hurt. As for the white spots, when you sleep, usually you open your mouth whether you realize it or not. Then bacteria goes in and starts to build up. Eventually it becomes visible. It is white. Strep is a ***** to diognose. Because they will do a strep test and do a quick analysis. If the quick one says strep then you definately have it. If it comes up negative, you may be safe. But a couple hours you could could get a call from the big lab saying that it is strep. Those quick machines are only 85% right. So it could be....and it might not be. If it is, you will get Ammoxicilian or Pennicillian. I know I get something different because I am allergic to those, but most likely you will get one of the two. Hope I helped.

I can't diagnose you over the 'net (I think I'm gonna have to add Dr in front of my name), but I can tell you that I'm reasonably sure I'm immune to strep throat. I'm nearly 30 and have never had strep in my life.

I had the same feeling a couple of weeks ago, I couldnt drink or eat without it hurting. I didnt bother to get it checked out, it only lasted about a week. It sucks but being sick is part of life.
