If you're into that sorta stuff. Reading? Well yeah. It's the same story, but with more detail in the book. I don't see how you could like one, and not the other. Tolkein is a bad example. If you want to see how cinema can be better than reading, watch a movie based on a Dumas novel.

I'm very excited for this. I love Del Toro, and Hobbit is my favorite middle earth book.
The idea of a sequel is odd. I'm not sure if there is a full book that takes place between this and LotR. but he created a whole history, so I'm sure some information is there.

i really dont like LOTR (not into movies that create their own world and vocabulary (harry potter too)) and i am not a fan of jackson because i was under the impression his king kong would be modernized like godzilla was since i hate movies set in a differant time but coming from a non-fan its disappointing to see a director change for a series of movies that a certain director made famous i would hate that to happen to suttin i like like batman or SM
