I got this from WrestleZone. I'll probably post the entire column here shortly.
In his latest column for the UK Sun, Paul Heyman goes on a rant about how poorly TNA has marketed Samoa Joe since he won the TNA Title earlier this month. He does a pretty good job explaining the various problems with the way TNA promotes their product and how the company does absolutely nothing to emphasize their unique strengths. Some highlights:
Heyman says, "The live crowd, for the most part, loved [Joe & Angle's MMA-style match]. Customer satisfaction with the TNA product probably reached an all time high with this match. And yet, NOTHING CHANGED!"
He continues, "Why? Because TNA had no marketing campaign behind their new champion. 'Crossing the Line' was done by ECW in 1994. David Sahadi is a genius whose videos deserve massive praise, but the theme is the same as what he did for WWE a half decade ago. What public relations firm was hired to make Samoa Joe 'the IT guy' in today's pop culture? What marketing firm was retained to get the TNA name out there? ... Where's the expansion? Where's the reach-out for the new audience? Where's the strategy to blast past the 1.0 ratings and target a 1.5, dare I say a "2.0" rating?

Heyman is too smart for wrestling. Sure he's not good with money, but damn he could build any company. If Heyman booked TNA, with being made to have Shark Boy as a main eventer, he could still do well.

Heyman, while having some very good points, at times needs to really let some ppl have their time to shine though.

I will say that what Paul did for ECW was genious and never will doubt his ability or knowledge of the wrestling industry, but at the same time he is merely doing this to get attention. Same thing with his rant on Flair.

Heyman, while having some very good points, at times needs to really let some ppl have their time to shine though. What time to shine? TNA is doing a piss poor job of building themselves. Heyman isn't saying these things to tear TNA down, he's giving them advice to improve. |

Paul Heymen seems to say what he believes no matter who it pisses off, whereas Disco Inferno says what he wants no matter who it pisses off, just so long as he doesn't piss off TNA management. In fact, he seems to have taken the same "there's nothing wrong with TNA and if that's what you believe, then there is something wrong with you" mentality that all the other higher-ups in TNA seem to have. |

Agree with Heyman. TNA seems stuck in a box..Alot going on and alot to offer but isolated. they need to be more expansive and i think that begins with another show and trying to attract a younger audience. Would like to see a mean girls faction start up in the womens divsion.

Heyman, while having some very good points, at times needs to really let some ppl have their time to shine though. when i read all these things that heyman says i think of the same thing. i mean he does have some very good points. but sometimes he just needs to relax. it makes it seem like hes still really bitter at everything that happened to ecw. |

I don't understand what either of you are trying to say. How is Paul Heymen not giving others their "time to shine" by criticizing the current state of wrestling? And Chevy, wouldn't you be pissed if you were in his shoes? I know I would be. But that seems to be beside the point, I don't think that's whu he's bashing TNA. He's bashing TNA because they are  ing up. Why is it that people don't react like this when Lance Storm points out all the stupid crapTNA does? |
