Basiclly, eric being a bit of a simpleton was crapscared of black reign and rellik. So as he could'nt beat them as "eric" he talked to Kaz and he explains the whole "alter ego" thing! So hence super Eric.
Long story short!

I was going to start another thread, but it seemed somewhat appropriate to put my question here as this is the "can someone fill me in" thread.
I am just now starting to regularly follow the TNA product, and I was curious as to what happened to abyss. I have noticed promo videos they have been showing where he talks about "coming home".
Now what happened, storyline-wise, to make him leave?
p.s. I couldn't find the answer anywhere else so i apologise if this has been answered elsewhere.

I guess the torture of facing his "half-brother" Judas Mesias (no longer with the company) especially in a "Barbed Wire Massacre" made him leave the iMPACT! Zone with his mask off (of course we never saw his face) The detailed explanation: During the weeks following Turning Point, Mitchell threatened to reveal "a dark secret" of Abyss' past. In an interview conducted between Mitchell and Jeremy Borash, Mitchell revealed that Abyss' real name is Chris Parks. Mitchell also announced that he would be confronting Abyss the following week on iMPACT. In the confrontation, Abyss confirmed his name was Chris Parks saying "Abyss is Chris Parks". When Mitchell demanded Abyss tell the world the dark secret of his past, Abyss refused stating "The secret lives with me and it dies with me!". Abyss then chokeslammed Mitchell, which prompted the return of Judas Mesias. Following this event, Abyss and Mesias had a match at Final Resolution which Mesias won after a Straight to Hell onto a steel chair wrapped in barbed wire. After the match, Father James Mitchell ordered Mesias to restrain Abyss. Mitchell again demanded Abyss tell the world the dark secret of his past. Abyss refused yet again. Mitchell then stated "People who don't tell the truth will burn in hell!". Mitchell then grabbed a black bag which contained a container of gasoline which he poured over Abyss. Mitchell then lit a match but before he threw it on Abyss, security entered the ring and grabbed the matches. Mitchell revealed on the January 17 edition of iMPACT! that he was the actual kayfabe father of Abyss, and Parks was in actuality his mother’s maiden name, whose real name was Chris Mitchell. The next week, Abyss issued a challenge to face Mitchell and Mesias in a Barbed Wire Massacre at Against All Odds, where Abyss defeated Mesias by performing a Black Hole Slam onto a barbed wire board. On the February 14 edition of iMPACT!, Abyss, who was scheduled for a match against Scott Steiner left the ring before the match, because of the beating he took at Against All Odds, but before leaving through the tunnel, Abyss, without showing his face, took off his mask. The official TNA web site had taken Abyss off the roster list. On the May 15th edition of iMPACT! Abyss showed a short video were he was locked in an insane asylum and doctors told the viewers that he was almost cured from his insanity and that he will be able to return home soon. On May 22nd edition of iMPACT! Abyss made another promo in the asylum. In a promo, Abyss says "I am Chris Parks but Abyss will always be in me!". He then says that it's time for Abyss to go home. On May 28th Abyss made a promo saying the doctors have finally cured him and that he will be released in 10 days, meaning that he will return on June 8th at Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's Pay-Per-View, Slammiversary 2008.
