So, I was just checking out the card for Judgement Day tonight and it really clued me into how much the writing and booking teams suck. Not only is the card relatively underwhelming, but there are so many top talents that are not even included on the card.
Missing from Show:
- Batista: Yes he is supposed to be involved somehow in the Y2J/HBK match, but what the hell has he been doing for the last month? He actually doesn't have a storyline anymore, considering the writers shifted his program with HBK over to Jericho, but if they would have built all three into this program over the last month, maybe build some heat between Jericho and Batista over Jericho's officiating (even though it was fair). I don't know exactly what is best, but this is just stupid. There is finally a non-main event fued for Batista and he was left behind.
- Kennedy: No reason why he is not facing Regal and that was not built up to a match.
- MVP: Why has Hardy/MVP been killed? The title switch happened, but the fued just rekindled. It could have led way to MVP forming an alliance with the likes of Elijah Burke and double teaming Hardy for weeks until Jeff returns and makes the save and that gives us a great tag match on the card.
- Finlay: How one goes from a high profile fued with McMahon and whoever does his dirty work that month (JBL) to being relatively ignored by creative confuses me. Finlay should be used. He should retain his badass, stiff worker image and kick some heels around. He is great for giving new, young heels a rub and should be used.
- Big Show: Although there is confusion as to whether or not his match with Mark Henry is actually taking place, Big Show is being wasted in that storyline. Yes, it has helped with making Henry appear credible, but booking and creative have been working hard for the last two years, making sure we never take the World's Strongest Man seriously ever again. Big Show is finally back and he is a significant part of the roster. He should be playing the heel (they never should have given into the crowd and simply played him with a monstrous edge) and challenging the Dead Man for the title. The Edge storyline is tired, really really tired. In fact, I read that the whole stripping him of the title storyline is because Edge is a better champ than challenger and there are no other challengers for Taker. Well this La Familia thing is not working out and they need to build some superstars up. If they would have gone along with the draft rather than the King of the Ring, and moved UMAGA (another man who needs a fued very badly) over to Smackdown, then the Undertaker would have two perfect challengers to get him through the summer, in Umaga and Big Show.
- Matt Hardy: I made suggestions for using him in my MVP section, but by not buidling upon his storyline with MVP or giving him a new fresh fued, creative killed the momentum he gained by winning the US Title in the first place.
- Chavo Guerrero: He has been hanging around the main event scene for some time and even introduced him body guard, but the continuation of his program with Kane fizzled out and he is left without a storyline or fued of his own. This is the time where the audience will take him most seriously, something his career has not really seen in the past, and creative needs to use that.
I just think it's rediculous that we are being given such an underwhelming card when such talented workers with the potential to give us a solid card are being left off and wasted elsewhere.
