The thing is, THIS prophecy coincides with many others. It's not just the Mayan's, ours is just the most famous. The chinese have a similar prophecy at the same time, Nostradamus has an end time prophecy at the same time AND the "Last Pope Prophecy" has current pope Benedict as the 2nd to last pope. It COULD very well be just simply the end of that particular calender, but alot of other civilizations are calling for the same thing. With all the crazy things happening in this world on damn near a daily basis, I won't be suprised.

No. It's the end of that version of the calendar, not the world. This isn't the first calendar that's been done. Thats so true.

I believe it, everything else Nostradamus predicted has came true... The Holocaust, Hurricane Katrina, etc. Now the only thing left is his prediction of the World ending in 2012.

That was dumb because 6/6/06 doesn't mean anything because it makes 6606 not 666

That was dumb because 6/6/06 doesn't mean anything because it makes 6606 not 666 well technically it should've been written: 06/06/06 so that's different.

According to the Doomriderian calendar, that day is also International Make-Fun-Of-The-Mayans-Because-They're-All-Gone-So-We-Drink-Beers-And-Scream Day.

Just because you don't see a bunch of Mayans dressed up in feathers and animal furs doesn't mean we aren't around. I'm as much a Mayan as any of you want to claim that you're "Irish," or "Scottish" or whatever. My grandmother's mom was entirely from a mayan tribe but considering she'd have to be around 110 years old to "prove" Mayan's are all gone, I guess that isn't good enough.

Does it really matter? If it doesn't happen, we'll all just continue on with our normal lives. And if it does, we're all screwed anyway and we can't do anything about it.

the difference w/ the Y2K, 06 06 06 and everything else is that they were just spur of the moment type things. This one particular date has been in effect for thousands and thousands of years. Alot of people predict it is some sort of shift and not necessarily the end of the world but the date has significance. What it is, we won't know until then. The thing w/ the end of the world (if you are a Christian) is that it won't be a sudden *boom* it's over. It'll be a 7 year period. This could just be the start of it, who's to say.

The world is not going to end in your or my lifetime... I guarentee it... if it does, you may kick me in the nuts on the way to hell -_- I do not see the end of the world happening in my lifetime... The World will not come to an end until the Sun asplodes... and even then, Earth will just kinda drift through space as a giant ball of land and ice... The Human race will have killed themselves off long before that possibly due to a Nuclear Holocaust... i could be wrong but i thought that when the sun dies out, it will expand so large that the Earth will be obliterated by it's mass. Am i wrong? It is being predicted that as the Sun gets larger and larger, the suns gravitational pull will gradually become weaker and weaker and while the first two planets closest to the sun will be engulfed, Earth is JUST far enough away that it will eventually escape from the sun. When it explodes, everything on the earth will be burnt and gone, the earth as a planet will still be in existence...
