I remember when that Referee was going to come out.. the Wrestleworld.com said that it was rumored that there was going to be painted blonde hair chase figure....anyone else heard that? That's the first I've ever heard of that. I've seen a lot of referee figures but none with blonde hair, so I don't know how truthful that may be. Edit: However, I do believe there are Announcer Vince Variant's as I own two, one loose and one MOC, from the same Ringside Collection Series 1 set, but the hair color's are different shades of black/gray. I know that the Vince in the Raw is War box set has gray hair, but it appears that there were different shades produced. And, isn't the JR "War Tony" figure a variant? As was mentioned, Ringside collection series 1 Vince had either grey or black hair. There was a Jim Ross figure that had a "War Tony" logo on his jacket in the second series. I recall seeing a blonde ref, but I don't think it was from the single carded ringside collection. I think it was in a boxed set (although it's been about ten years, so I could be wrong). I do know that Jakks never did chase figures until very recently, so it would have either been a run change (like the Vince hair, since Vince didn't like the grey haried figure) or part of another series.

I was really into BCA when they came out. I sold my lot of them on eBay years ago. They had horrid head scans, didn't they?

I was really into BCA when they came out. I sold my lot of them on eBay years ago. They had horrid head scans, didn't they? They actually weren't scans. I know "headscans" have sort of become the phrase when describing the facial likeness for figures, but the "Real Scan technology" was not used by Jakks before TTL. In fact, no one was using it at that point outside of Playmates toys for their Star Trek The Next Generation series. Even then, it was still in it's very early stages and didn't yield the lifelike appearance of the newer scans at their best. The Bone Crunching Action figures feature old-fashioned head SCULPTS, 100-percent hand created by a sculptor.

Most of the sculpts weren't bad, I would say, although some might disagree. Yes, there were the occasional cheap tactics used by Jakks, such as repainting a Jeff Jarrett sculpt for an Owen Hart figure, and repainting the Patriot's head for the Blue Blazer figure, but they worked with what they had at the time. As for the Referee figure again, it was released in at least one box set that comes to mind; the King of the Iron Rung set featuring Bret w/no glasses, Ahmed Johnson and Steve Austin came with a Referee figure, although every one I've seen has the original black hair. But, you never know, their might be some out there in somebody's collection. If you remember, the Signature Series 2 Billy Gunn figure was released in both blue and purple kneepads, Series 6 Steve Blackman occasionally featured no logo on the back of his shirt, and several others had details about them that were changed that could be interpreted as chase figures. Although, I doubt any of them really were. Oh, and I took some updated collection pics yesterday while sorting through all of mine, so enjoy: Basically, these are all mixed up singles and tag team figures, and the figures pictured on the right side of the ring are all of the loose Backlash series figures I have in my collection.

awesome haul !!! how many figs do you still need to hunt down to complete your BCA collection? Or is it complete already? Well, it's not complete in the sense that I have every BCA figure made, as I choose not to collect some such as the S.T.O.M.P. series or most of the Slammers series figures, but it's pretty big. I reached my initial goal of having one of every wrestler/character in BCA form, though, which I'm very proud of. I'm still waiting on the Buried Alive box set in the mail which featured the last two I needed, Paul Bearer and the Executioner. So, basically, I'm down to just buying repaints now, which I still enjoy doing. Superstars Series 1 Undertaker is probably my biggest want at the moment and I'm constantly looking to track down others from that KB Backlash series. I need to take pics soon of my updated collection, which has easily surpassed 150+ BCA figures. Great stuff. BCA were the first line of figures I could collect 1 of every wrestler made (Hasbros just didnt get released around here). I finished my BCA collection years ago just after TTL came out. As much as I love RAs, especially the classic line, BCA figures will ALWAYS have a special place in my collection. That Kane looks awesome. Its the first time Ive seen it. Im glad you got your buried alive set. The Executioner figure was the last one I needed and I ended up dropping $80 for the set MOC....TOOOO much money, but once I had the complete set of BCAs...It was worth it

Although, I managed a steal by getting the Buried Alive set for just under $20 shipped, in mint condition.
