We are the internet and bashing is what we do. With that said, for a little change I feel that TNA deserves a bit of praise. If for one night only even, TNA IMO showcased their homegrown talent very well on this week's show. Maybe it was Joe's promo or their intent all along but they shined this week.
When the two 5-man teams came out to talk and make their tag match, the two group leaders took the mics. I expected Nash or Booker to have the honor but was ecstatic and perhaps even flashed a smirk over the fact that Joe was the team's main man. A small step, but one that I felt was somehow important. Later on, despite Nash getting the pin I felt that Kaz and Eric Young shined through in that match. Eric Young has gained my respect very quickly over the past week and I like his involvement in this angle. Good thing Hall no showed!
While few agree with me, I have been saying that TNA have been quietly building up their stars. Though not racking up wins or main eventing, guys like LAX, Robert Roode, Eric Young and Kaz actually have fairly good star power now. They were built slowly as they should be and as Mike Tenay accurately stated on Impact, the mix of New Generation and Old School displayed in the main event was as it should be in pro wrestlng. I quick push to the main event, at least to me, can stir resentment as the case is in the WWE with John Cena and Batista. Sure, Cena was built up solidly as US Champ, his dominance came as too much too fast. Stars such as HHH, Austin and Rock developed over time and were not pushed as hard in my opinion and are now looked at as the best. Perhaps developing a star is look cooking barbecue, the slower the better. *chuckle*
Odds are that TNA will mess this up in a week or two but lets hope not. They are headed in the right direction. So instead of harping about the negatives and never letting TNA know what they HAVE done right( not that they read here), but lets give credit where it was due. Sadly many have looked down upon this weeks show, for some ungodly reason like TOO MANY HOMEGROWN STARS!!!!! But the internet will never be content and thats ok......just admit that they accomplished at least that much at least for this week!
