Wow, what a win for Thiago Alves.
I hope Hughes didn't tear his ACL...

Nooo, i really wanted to see Hughes get the win. I would say it's about time for Matt Hughes to retire, but he really wants that fight with Matt Serra.

I'm surprised Thiago took out Hughes like that. I'm a little more surprised that Vera got stopped.

I'm not a huge Hughes fan, but I do respect his accomplishments as a fighter. It's a little messed up to see him getting overwhelmed by younger fighters, but that's just the way things go in the fight game sometimes.
Hughes-vs-Serra would be a nice send off for him, win or lose. I just really can't see him doing much outside of that.

I ready an interview with Hughes the other day and he said he thinks he still has 2 to 3 years left in him. - Iron Heart

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he should retire immediately because he lost this one fight. I'd love to see him take on Serra, as well as Karo. It's just a big question mark as to how much more he can do after that. Outside of maybe outclassing some of the lower names in the welterweight division, I'm not sure I can see him getting back to the top.

Solid night of action, the Wiman win was quality & Bisping despite all the haters looked impressive but hopefully we can see him in there with a better fighter, I'm hoping for Kampmann myself. The Vera stoppage was freaking garbage though & I think Marquardt got stitched up. Alves looked great, hopefully next in line after Fitch

With this loss and really only one match left that has true intrigue, I think Matt Hughes should really explore other options than the Welterweight division. I believe it was Dave Meltzer who had the idea of Hughes maybe moving to Middleweight and challenging Anderson Silva, which I think could be an incredible fight. Of course now there's rumors Anderson Silva's gonna bump up to Light Heavyweight so, who knows.
In the end, some people will bastardize Hughes for continuing clearly past his peak, but give him a break. At a time he was the best Welterweight in the world, and I feel that if he loves to fight, he's earned the right to do so.

Dana...what did you think about your sub-par PPV today?

Hughes overestimated Alves. Simple as that. Even in the countdown to 85 Hughes said hes looking past Alves and focusing on Serra. He did exactly what any fighter should never do. And thats underestimate the opponent.
Im still in shock that Alves was able to counter hughes ground game though tbh. I may dislike Matt Hughes, but I'd be crazy if I said he wasnt one of the most impressive wrestlers in MMA history.

Wow, pretty safe to say I never expected a dominate win like that for Alves. Congrats goes to him. Werdum seemed impressive, finishing Gonzaga and Vera. He looks to be a factor in the HW division.

Marquardt straight up beat himself tonight. But he should of been given the fight just because of the piledriver. That was sick.

Bisping should have a fight against Franklin or Leben and then a title shot against Silva.

Bisping should have a fight against Franklin or Leben and then a title shot against Silva. Yea i think Rich needs another win, then he should get Bisping. If that happens and Bisping beats Rich then he should get the title shot. But in my opinion Rich needs more than two more wins to get a 3rd shot at Silva. Here's what i would like to see. Franklin vs. Hendo and Bisping vs. Leben - Iron Heart

Franklin vs. Hendo and Bisping vs. Leben - Iron Heart I'd rather Bisping actually beat someone before he actually goes ahead and gets in the title picture...and while Leben is a tough fight, he's not a gatekeeper. Let Bisping beat a guy like Okami, Franklin, Henderson before you put him in the title talk. Right now, Bisping is still behind Cote, Almeida, Kampmann, Leites in terms of title shot. Beating Charles McCarthy and Jason Day doesn't do an awful lot for you. Personally, I want to see Bisping vs Quarry. As I really don't think Bisping would press the action much there, and I honestly don't see him winning. I think it'd be a HUGE win for Nate over a bigger "name" and propel him to face a guy like Okami after and get in the title hunt himself. The Middleweight division has some potential...but Bisping definitely doesn't deserve a title talk yet.
