When TNA first got started.......AJ Styles and the rest of the X division was putting TNA on the map. A handful of years later, we have come full circle.....to a certain extent. AJ Styles is ocne again being featured prominently. Notice how TNA is putting the best product forth, when AJ is made too look like a muppet aka Hornswoggle.
IMO, and I am sure most agree, the hottest angle in TNA right now is the AJ/Kurt feud. AJ is playing the heroic babyface in peril and Kurt plays the big name heel, who needs numbers in order to beat AJ. I love how Kurt can just turn that switch. From a dominant babyface who is heroic and is the best in the biz.....to the heel who cant beat a single soul without getting some outside assistance. Its what makes Angle so great in whatever role he plays. But I digress.
Over the past month, we have seen AJ mature and turn a corner in his career. When he first started in TNA, AJ was phenomenal in the ring......but his mic. work and character lacked depth. Now he has improved. Dont get me wrong, he isnt the best mic. worker. I wouldnt put him in the top 5 of TNA.....but he has shown improvement. His biggest asset is that he has emotion now. He was showing some of that emotion in his feud with Kid Kash back in the day. But sadly....it was squashed, Kash was gone and AJ became bland on the mic. again. Fast forward to now and AJ has been rejuvenized with this feud with Kurt. The passion and emotion is there. The idea that many believe Karen and AJ are an item......but it has not been 100% confirmed and continues to persist as nothing more than a rumor. They story is developing...slowly. And thats what it takes to be successful. We dont need a regurgetation and see it all unfold one week. Create drama and suspense. And this is exactly being done.
Credit has to goto Kurt and Karen as well. Both are playing strong roles into AJ's development. Kurt, obviously more than Karen. Kurt continues to redefiine himself. He is making AJ look like a billion bucks, cuz lets fact it....AJ is already a million on his own. We have to credit Kurt Angle for the phenomenal job he is doing. Pun intended.
Now the feud has to continue. Dont give up on it. Put Kurt needs to string some wins together against AJ, leading to the next PPV. AJ will get the win and fight off the numbers. Perhaps, AJ gets a little assistance from Christian and Rhyno in stopping Tomko and 3D. This will propel AJ to #1 contender and get him a title match against Samoa Joe at the very next PPV. And that gives us AJ/Joe.....which will tear the roof off. In the end, Kurt costs AJ the match. AJ is of course pissed and its Kurt Angle who gets the next title match. Angle is gonna be beat, after AJ interference. None of this sits well with Joe. So we get a 3 way. WOW! Another roof coming off. Joe gets the win and moves onto his next feud. AJ and Kurt have really settled nothing and their feud just begins to pick back up. Let them settle it in the Six Sides of Steel or Falls Count Anywhere....something. AJ finally defeats Kurt, settling the feud for the time being. This will put AJ and Kurt going into different directions and now you have 3 of the biggest names in TNA booked for pretty much the remainder of the year.
