On Tuesday I secured some tickets to a Kmart instore signing in Sydney. The whole event was pretty secretive including getting the tickets. There was only a limited amount to and the superstar/s who would be signing at the store were not announced. The area they were signing in was actually one of the ‘less elegant’ places here. On Saturday I saw Kane had signed in Adelaide so I thought I was toast and there is no way he would sign the second day in a row so I wondered who it could be. I went online the morning of june15 and saw that Kane was apparently scheduled for this in store signing. But I didn’t want to get my expectations too high. So at 3pm, went to the store and there was massive line but only for those with tickets. Everyone was waiting to see who was signing and it was only one superstar. A big man in a black shirt came out and it was Kane!!!!! I couldn’t believe that my favourite superstar of all the places was signing right here in this virtually insignificant place and I was going to meet him! The signing was even free! Time came and using the very short time I had I said hi to him and he asked how I was, got him to sign some stuff and got a few pics of him too! Couldn’t believe it! I got a paper signed to me personally, a figure and also a belt which he signed ten years ago when he won his first world title (I bought it online) and now ten years on he is signing the belt again when he is also world champion! Talk about timing! Had a fantastic time there and the show wasn’t even on yet.
Then on to the show……..
First Justin Roberts came out saying Taker was banished and couldn’t make it before Shane McMahons music hits and he comes out announcing Taker can be here tonight in Sydney!
Kelly Kelly is in the crowd and gives a family up the back ringside tiks for answering a trivia question.
We get under way with a US title match: MVP vs Matt. Matt ended up winning with a twist of fate, was a great match pretty solid throughout, crowd went wild for matt, I prefer MVP.
Next its diva competition with Kelly & Michelle vs Vic & Natalya. This was the best Kelly has been all year! So athletic, a great match by all four ended with Michelle making Victoria tap out. Great to see Michelle.
Punk vs Shelton is up next where Punk gets a HUGE pop. The match was pretty drawn out with submissions and all, one spot saw Punk got way up high in the air. Punk won with a GTS. Punk really sold his leg being hurt, the crowd was a little out of this match. Punk did ‘alright’.
Next, Funaki came out and got a kid from the audience as the bell ringer for the next match which was Henry vs Noble. Henry is enormous in person! Henry ended up winning of course but it wasn’t a complete squash, just mainly a squash.
Then it was a tag titles match, Morrison & Miz vs Finlay & Horny. One of the nights biggest matches, the crowd was very much entertained here. Huge pops for Hornswoggle who brought out the water guns again. Miz’s hat was thrown in the crowd. Lots of funny moments in this match, was hilarious. Morrison and miz ended up winning with a secretive low blow to Finlay. Afterwards, Finlay knocked out the tag champs as Finlay and horny celebrate in the ring. Was a great match!
Then we had an intermission before we had a Kofi vs Chuck match. It was alright but probably the ‘filler’ match for what would be on next. Kofi of course won and just for reference, chuck had his bike.
Chavo, Bam and Khali come to the ring then BOOM! Its Kane who enters wearing the ECW title. Then the lights go out and out comes the Underrrrrrrrrrrrrtaker. Huge pops for both as some didn’t know Kane was scheduled for the match and Undertaker because he has returned for this tour only. 3 on 2: BOD vs Khali Chavo & Bam. This was the crowds favourite match. Everyone was paying full attention. Kane and Taker chants occurred throughout particularly when Kane was in the vice grip. The end saw a double chokeslam on Khali before Taker tombstoning Chavo for the 3. Taker and Kane posed in the ring then walked up to the ramp, looked back, then raised their arms. Best moment of the night!
Then the ‘settler’ match was Shannon vs Vladimir in a squash.
Finally, Edge vs Batista in a WHC defence. Edge took a long time to get started calling Australians a slang term that’s insulting with a bad attempt at an aussie accent. Edge wasted probably 10minutes or so before getting into the match. The match was mainly edge trying to claw his way through. At one point the two battled in the crowd. The end saw Edge walking up the ramp with his title but Shane came out and said now a countout is a title loss, get back in! Edge gets in and further on, Bam and Chavo run down and stop Tista picking up the win, we had a DQ. The ending was very very close, everyone was really into it, it was almost a three despite a world title change at a house show being almost impossible. Then Batista was being beaten down by the 3 but taker comes out! Taker cleans house and leaves raising his arms. Then Batista congratulates edge on retaining and then pulls down the back of his tights mooning edge (but Batista had underwear on). Then Batista left with music playing.
A fantastic show! My 5th and most favourite, almost every match was completely entertaining. BOD and the Tag titles matches were the best and the WHC one was great too. An amazing night to cap off an amazing day!!!
Got the souvenir program and a Kane shirt too which says Fear the Monster in the back:
After months of anticipating this all happening, it all turned out just perfect for me! Couldn’t have had a better day if I tried…..
