secret six 23 was as superbly written as any other issue, however i found the art heavily lacking, specifically in the drawings of catman. just looked blah.

So because I'm still 2 weeks or so behind on comics I thought I should catch up and read some more Batman Beyond 1, I used to watch a fair amount of Batman Beyond as a kid so I was glad when I hear they were bringing this back for a mini series and this issue was pretty good. Neo-Gotham is a cool concept, I love Wayne in this, and future Hush being in this is so awesome. I kinda hope a whole series comes out of this miniseries. Deadpool Team Up 892, bad and somehow they even drew Deadpool badly. Captain America: The 1940's newspaper strip, it is a fun little throwback I can't say I'll be picking up another though. Avengers 2, This story is still pretty awesome, I'm still liking the whole "We've gotta fix the future" thing and the issue ended really well. The only thing is that I haaate Romita Jr's art, I like him in other places like Kick-Ass but for some reason it just looks ugly in this comic. Flash 3, I never thought I would like Flash as a character but I love him in this comic and that's mostly because of Geoff Johns story in this it's so good. Brightest Day 5, pretty awesome, the stuff with Brand was cool, the Aquaman story was neat and the Hawkman/woman story was really surprising and teased something that could have a big effect on the story. Green Lantern 55, not bad I don't feel like Lobo needed to be in it though but at least they advanced the story a little. Also I don't think they really needed the origins of the red lantern cat Dex-Starr I would rather just have had more story. Green Lantern Corps 49, pretty good the stuff with the alpha lanterns was really cool since I really didn't know what they were before and the character that returned at the end was a crazy surprise.

^ agreed about batman beyond. i was skeptical, but it seems it's being done quite well. i also love the idea of hush as the villain.

I want a Dex-Starr tattoo.
And yes, Flash is really good.

So I had nothing better to do so I caught up on the remaining comics I had left: Amazing Spider-Man 635, the Grim Hunt story has to be my favorite so far, I got into AMS kinda late so I didn't know about most of these characters and getting the back story of things that happened in older issues is really cool also the ending was pretty crazy. Amazing Spider-Man 636, not as good as 635 but it was still pretty good, I almost wish if they were going to focus on someone during this issue it would have just been the Kraven family and not jumped around to Mary-Jane and the other spiders. Even though the twist at the end was maybe a little obvious I can say that I didn't actually see it coming and it was great. Captain America 607, pretty good, I'm enjoying this whole thing with Bucky and Zemo so far and I really enjoyed the beginning of this issue the most with Bucky just kinda falling apart and I wish there was more of that. Also for Cap fans I didn't want to make a whole new thread about it but they're going to be bringing back Korvac soon, I never read The Korvac Saga but I might have to go back and read it now. Invincible Iron Man Annual, holy was this good, I loved the story, Fraction did such an amazing job. If you're a fan of this series and didn't pick it up you really should. The only problem is that it actually doesn't have Iron Man in it even though he is on the cover. But I can't wait for Mandarin in the regular Invincible Iron Man series. The Boys 43, good issue, I'm glad the whole thing with Super Duper seems to be over because that was to me a pretty annoying team. The Boys 44, so this turned out to be a pretty crazy issue, not a ton happened but the stuff with Homelander kinda going crazy was pretty cool and the end blew me away and I can't wait for the next issue now. Secret Avengers 2, still a really good Avengers series so far the whole thing with the crown seems like it will turn out to be a cool story. Joe the Barbarian 6, so this story is still really ing nuts and as much as I'm enjoying it I really can't wait for the end so everything is cleared up. Red Hood - The Lost Days 2, I'm really glad they put this story out because I came into Batman pretty late and had to catch up on a bunch of things and getting the back story on Jason Todd like this is really cool.

Ok now I'm officially out of stuff:
Hellboy Vol. 4, pretty good, I kinda felt like there were too many short stories but the last 2 were longer and I liked them the most
Hellboy Vol. 5, it was awesome, I loved how it was just one big story and the story was good, also Lobster Johnson is such a great character.

I want to check out BPRD but for some reason I can't find it around here, I was lucky enough to find Hellboy Vols. 2-5 in a used book store. Maybe I'll just order some of them online.

hmm, that's too bad about them not being in the area. they really are worth looking into...did your comic shop happen to get the most recent abe sapien one shot? as a stand alone, it's a good read and has a few more issues to go.

I think they get Hellboy in, I know I've at least seen some Dark Horse comics there, so I'll have to look for that the next time I am there. Thanks for the recommendation.

started in on the 'turf' series today... really, really cool stuff. set in the age of alcohol prohibition, the story features an odd cast of rivaling gangsters, a vampiric race of people ready to emerge from their dark hiding places, and an alien drug smuggler. seems like it wouldn't flow, right? yet it does, and quite amazingly. really picked up in issue two...i don't wanna give too much away, but the characters are so cool in this book, the main vampire is so badass...

Avengers Academy 2 - This series is pretty interesting, both issues have ended really well which makes me want to keep reading it just to see what happens but the rest of the comic doesn't make me want to read any more.
Invincible Iron Man 28 - Not bad but for some reason I'm just not too fond of this arc, maybe because the last one was so good but I think it is slowly picking up which is nice. Also I looove the cover for this issue.
Amazing Spider-Man 637 - Awesome issue, I loved Parker's monologue thing towards the beginning of the issue which made him snap and turned him into this much more bad ass Spider-man and I thought this arc wrapped up pretty well, also the epilouge at the end was nuts and I can't wait to see what is going to happen with "tarantula." I really hope O.M.I.T. can be as good as this arc was.
Hellboy The Storm 1 - Good story, I really liked how that actually did a small recap of what has happened to Hellboy since I was reading old issue so a lot of this stuff like him being King of England is new to me and I can't wait to read the next issue.
Also K5 I thought I'd ask you, who is the red haired lady? (Alice I think her name is) Like is she Hellboy's new love interest or something?

her name is alice monogan (sp?), she was originally featured in the hellboy story 'the corpse', as the baby he rescues from fairies that decided to take her. after she'd been returned by hellboy, she continued to talk with the fairies...i think she reappeared in the wild hunt, randomly...the hellboy chronology is a bit hard to organize mentally at times.

I just read BATMAN: THE DOOM THAT CAME TO GOTHAM. Have you read this, k5? It's written by Mike Mignola. In a way, it's like a more literal, bat-sh it version of Bruce/Hurt.

yea, it's a good read. i especially adore how the penguin is portrayed, that scene in which they attempt to locate him in the arctic and see him in the distance is amazing.
gotta love that art style too.

I love that style for Batman. I would have loved to see Morrison do an arc of Batman and Robin with it.
