I just finished up "Superman: Peace on Earth".
I think it's set a new standard for me. Whenever I talk about how Superman's morality is so complex, moving, and deeply wonderful, this is the story I'm going to point to.
At times it is heartbreaking, at times it is uplifting, but it is always beautiful. Alex Ross is at his absolute peak here, since the thing is MASSIVE and easily the largest (in terms of sheer size) graphic novel I've ever read.
In terms of awesomeness, Alex Ross's paintings in a two-page spread where each page is about double the length and width of a standard page is simply breathtaking.
Paul Dini is at his best too, resulting in a beautiful story about Superman trying to do something about world hunger only to realize that it's just a symptom, not a disease.
I can't say enough about this one. "Peace on Earth" captures all of Superman's potential: it's not about the powers you have or the things you wear on your chest, it's about trying to make a difference, no matter who you are, no matter what your limitations, no matter what obstacles you may face. We all deserve a chance to realize our potential. We all deserve the right to live in a world that embraces our brothers and sisters instead of shunning them, disregarding them, or ignoring them. These massive, massive ideas are at the heart of "Peace on Earth", and I absolutely love it.
Definitely a diamond-in-the-rough pick-up for me.

X-Men - Eve of Destruction
I randomly pulled the series out of my older collection. It's decent.

Just finished Watchmen. Amazing.
I came back from Waldenbooks and purchased Batman: Year One and Batman: The Long Halloween. Didn't know Loeb did TLH. I shall enjoy these. They had Y: The Last Man, but I didn't if the series has one book or various books so I figured I would wait till I read the other ones to go on that one.
Its on my to-do list along with Anihilation and the ultimates.
