i dont normally post on this part of the site much but i just have to say in my opinion that doink/josh custom is the craziest and most unique customs ive ever seen

Gate City Sinner Gonzo- Looks good, just not as smooth as GCS's. I like the pose and looks like ref pic. the head is alright. I give it an 8/10
GCS- Very Creative Idea, not only creative but executed to perfection. Great Head choice. Looks like it could be an actual Jakks Figure. accessories are just icing on the cake. 10/10,
I vote Gate City Sinner

norton- head works fairly well, sculpting, especially singlet straps looks nicly done. lightning bolt looks good but the letteing, especially on the boots looks a little off. Its hard doing letters, especially that small but i think you could improve on them. painting is simple but smooth and looks good, exept for the skine tone which looks a little too pale but not bad at all.
joink- incredible creative idea. sculpting, from hair to knee to jeans to sock is all really good and i cant see how you could improve any of it. painting is to an equall high standard with with the difficult small star shapes comming out very well. The divide between the two halves is very sharp which works well with the jakks made look. the accesories are also a really nice touch.
winner - joink - i can think of no improvment to it whereas norton has a few minor flaws

I go with Gate here because Norton's head still looks more like the Gymini guy than it does Scott as well as the skintone looks blotcy in a few areas. The Joink on the other hand looks impressive, i mean it had to be pretty darn hard to make a perfect cut all the way down the figure and not mess up paint wise.

Flash: I like what you did with the sculpt and paint job. Even the little wrinkles in the tights looks good to me. The skin tone works. The only thing I would want is for Flash to be a bit more bigger in his upper body. The gymini head works for him and the flash writing on his tights is pretty good. but you can do a bit better on it.
Joink: Like I said before when you posted this against Import. This is a great figure. I like the sculpting a lot and the creativity that was used in making this figure. from the paint job to the full on half half sculpting to the countless parts that you were trying to figure out, it looks good.
My vote: GCS's Joink
Nice work on Flash from Gonzo, but Joink is better in my books.
The only way to compete with Joink is by making a Jink! (I'm serious too)

Gonzo: First let me say i like this figure, it's a good pose, sculpting is good, and over all the part choices work for the most part. My biggest complaint is that the foot and neck joints were left undone. If you are doing a posed piece, all joints should be done. I can't see any reason that they weren't done. The skintone is a bit pink for my tastes, but that's a small issue. There are a few white spots around the back of the neck as well.
GCS: Where to begin? Everything about this is damn near perfect. From the sculpting to the amazing paint job, i really can't find a way to complain. It looks like there may be a bit of unpainted area underneath the back of the hair on the Josh side, but it may be flash issues.
Winner: GCS

Gonzo is an amazing sculptor and his Norton is one of my current posted favorites. The detail is amazing and he even captured Norton's huge-sized head. However, "Joink" remains to be one of, if not the most unique customs I've ever seen and IMO will be very, very hard to beat. It's a well-thought out custom from he conceptualization to the choosing of parts to the sculpting and painting. Really, "Joink" is perfect.

I'ma go with Gate on this one. I feel that the half Big Josh half Doink is one of the most creative figures I've ever seen. I would put it right up there with M2K's old Gobbeldy Gooker figure. I'm not big on Norton, for the fact is that I hate posed customs using RA parts. Also, not every figure has to be posed. Sometimes less is more. I really liked Gonzo's one Steiner figure he had a while a go, the one that wasn't posed. I enjoyed that a lot more than any of the posed Steiners.

Gonzo- Your Scott Norton looks awesome. The sculpting is really good and I especially like the singlet sculpting. The lettering on the boots is a little sloppy. His skintone looks good and I like how you shaded the skintone in spots. The painting on the singlet could be better. I can see some brush strokes, mainly on his legs.
GCS- The Jink is one of the most creative customs I've seen. The sculpting is well done and I really like the detail you put into the custom. I prefer the Doink part of the custom because the other gimmick is more plain. My vote goes to GCS because of the creativity.

Gonzo: Your sculpting looks great. The only issues I ever have with your sculpts are the hair. This one is good though. I can't really pinpoint what it is about the others, but we are focusing on this one for now so it doesn't matter anyway. I think what hurts this one is the lettering. Sometimes, for as much sculpting skill you have, it's the complete opposite in the painting department. Here is an example of that in places. The s of flash on the leg looks akward. That whole word looks shakey. The lightning bolts all look good though. That would have been where I messed it up, so bravo on that. I myself am not too concerned with the couple joints that are not sculpted over. I don't think it takes much, if anything away from the overall product. The skintone bothers me a litte though. I think it looks too pink. He was always pretty tan. I think the part choices are fine for Norton as well. The freakishly large, well everything, of RA's might not work for most, but he was freakishly large in real life.
Gate: I don't really know what to say here. I like it. I think the thing that sets the whole thing off though is the eyes. That close up of the face looks like a real guy because those eyes are so life like. You need to do a tutorial on that.
My vote is Gate.

I'm sorry if this is gonna be biased but GCS gets my vote.
1.) Im not a fan of posed figures, i think it's being backwards and is an easy way out of not sculpting poseable parts, which is not really easy.
2.) Originality and the amount of work given to produce Joink. Ive never seen the WIP but hell, that's so much work. and to get that Jakks-like finish is truly amazing. Not to take away what effort gonzo gave to flash but going back to no.1, i am a biased judge towards articulation.
GCS hands down.
I can't wait to reach the point where i can get the monor to face GCS for the IC title.

I dont know who to vote for. But I will say I am glad I clicked on this thread, cuz I enjoyed seeing how Gate made that figure. When I first saw it, I was intrigued.

There's no contest really, the Norton looks alright but it's a bit messy, I don't like the sculpting, especially the grooves on the singlet, they look nothing like material creases. The painting doesn't look finished and the text on the boots isn't very good. I think if a figure is going to have the joints sculpted over then it needs to look perfect but some of the joints are still visible and some need more work (elbows and shoulders) Overall I think it's the singlet, boots and pads letting it down because the skin areas don't look too bad apart from the dark lines painted around the muscles. The Big Doish the Clown is superb, everything about it is amazing, the painting looks flawless and factory done, the sculpting is perfect, the accessories are great, as two seperate figures they would be two of the best customs I've ever seen, together it's even greater than the sum of it's parts. I could go on about what I like about it but I like everything about it, so much work has gone into it and it couldn't've come out better. GCS obviously gets my vote, it's at least a thousand times better, it's the best thing I've ever seen versus something very average.

Gate's 1/2 Doink is one of the most creative figures I have ever seen. I am not typically a huge fan of molded customs, but Gonzo's Norton is really amongst better ones I have seen, it just doesn't have that "it quality" that 1/2 Doink has. This is in no way a knock on Gonzo, but my vote goes to GateCitySinner.

I think I've commented on these in the other thread, so I'm not gonna go in depth, but I think that it the winner is clearly GCS. The idea's originality would make up for execution flaws in itself, except that there were no execution flaws in it. Meanwhile Gonzo's idea isn't that original (no knock, just comparing apples to apples), and there are definitely places that can be improved.

I can see the work that went into the Doink figure.. but personally I do like the sculpted Flash Norton figure more.
