Because it was a more MMA style match. They were building it up as such. It fit the match IMO.

Kurt was trying to say that the match was going to be more of a MMA style match. No doubt it was a semi hint at his match against Randy that I still hear is signed and yet no one has claimed it or even mentioned it other than him.
TNA would really get some interesting buzz if they could secure that on a PPV or at least allow some promotional crossover with it.

TNA would really get some interesting buzz if they could secure that on a PPV or at least allow some promotional crossover with it. BUT if they did it, Kurt would get freaking destroyed. One of the best Heavyweights ever in MMA against a guy with very limited MMA training & no avctual fights! Kurt gets messed up & loses a lot of credibility, kinda like how NJPW messed up Yuji Nagata who has an 0.2 Record. A 21 seconds loss to Crocop & lasted 1min 2 secs against Fedor. His image was shattered & took New Japan a long time to rebuild him to the level he's at now. I can't see TNA taking that risk, plus really if Angle wanted to have had an mMA match I believe he would have done by now. This year he has seen what happened to Lesnar, a talented wrestler but with limited MMA traning/ experience who tapped quickly to Mir, plus he's messed up his neck again.
