CHIKARA presents "Tragedy and Triumph"
LIVE! from the Chikaradome at the Forman Mills Sports Complex, Philadelphia, PA
July 13, 2008, bell time of 4:00 PM EST
Preshow Notes: Wi-Fi in the Arena! So faaaaast, it rules. Doors opened a little late, but it's all good. Hoping they keep the air conditioning going the whole show or it's going to be a sweatbox in here. Attendance is around 220.
1. Eddie Kingston vs Lince Dorado: Kingston's killing this kid and it rules. Hit him so hard he knocked him halfway to Alaska. King also told GLF to slit his wrists vertically, advice I endorse. Eddie Kingston wins in 4:35 with the spinning backfist. Pretty much a squash match. After the match, Lince the Jobber tried to save face by challenging King to a second match. Undeserved, so he didn't get it.
2. Jimmy Olsen vs Ultimo Breakfast: Jimmy scrambled his eggs early on, brawling on the outside while going for the mask. Ultimo Breakfast wins by DQ after Jimmy stripped him of the mask. Hmm...
3. Osirian Portal/Team FIST vs Super Smash Bros./The Colony: Icarus is growing the hair back but he's set of stuck on that in-between almost-a-fro stage. Wackoness abound as expected, just insanely fun. Complete madness. Uno's pants were removed at one point, taken off for the entirety of the match, with Amasks wearing them...until HE was paused on the top turnbuckle. Icarus wins with a tornado Pedigree on Uno. Honestly a bit sloppy and off at some points, but still fun. More tension between Uno and Stup...
Larry Sweeney Interview: Sweeney wants to go in a new direction from the Fabulous Three. "I am a better wrestler than Mitch Ryder, and I want nothing more than a singles match with him." Mitch accepts, but Sweeney needs a partner for a tag match. Sweeney accepts, and we have a tag match for next month (presumably).
4. Chuck Taylor vs Incognito: Rather uneventful. I know Incognito is well-liked and all, but I don't get it. Incognito wins with the Spanish Fly. Moving on...
5. Shane Storm vs Mike Quackenbush: Quack and Storm annihilate each other right off the bat, with Quack backdropping Storm on the stairs. The crowd is eating this alive, SO MUCH TENSION. Awesome match, they KILLED each other. Quack wins with the CHIKARA Special but refused to let go. Sabato reverses the decision and Shane Storm wins by DQ. Vin Gerard came out after the match and applauded Stormer.
Intermission: Midwest details - 9/20 in Chicago are, 9/21 in Bellefontaine(?), OH.
6. Young Lions Cup: Fire Ant [c] vs Vin Gerard: The children have determined that Vin is now known as "Chicken Nuts". Vin heavy with the offense, attacking the knee and elimating Gire Ant's flying attacks and slowing him down. After faking use of a chair, Vin Gerard pulls an Eddy Guerrero, faking out Bryce with a fake attack with the YLC Cup. The Ants came out to dispute any possible DQ when Vin hit Fire Ant with the Cup legit for the pinfall and the victory.
7. Tim Donst vs Ultramantis Black: Quick little match. Mantis asked Hydra to attack Donst during the match, but Donst ducked and hit Mantis. After the match, Mantis kicked Hydra out of the Order while Donst told Baby Gorilla that the challenge is on and Donst is coming after him. Hydra slapped Mantis across the face, which led to Mantis siccing Crossbones on the monster. DONST ran back out to make the save. Hydra and Donst, a team united.
8. No DQ - Claudio Castagnoli vs Brodie Lee: Our two referees are Derek So-bad-o and Nick Papa-it's-not-delivery-it's-DiGiorgio. Match starts off with a chair duel...both men escaped unscathed. Claudio did a CRAZEE Sabu dive off the chair over the top rope. Bruuuuutal stuff. BIG BOOT. SABATO DOWN! Shayne Hawke ran out to distract Claudio only for Mitch Ryder to hit Claudio with a FIREBALL. Brodie wins.
9. Campeones de Parejas: Incoherence vs The Fabulous Two:
Primera Caida: Shayne Hawke's getting the tar beat out of him early. Incoherence with the fun offense early, including headbutts to the crotch of Mitch Ryder. Brodie Lee comes out to "observe the match in the corner of the Fabulous Two. After a low blow, Mitch rolls up Delirious for the low blow. The Fabs up 1-0.
Segunda Caida: Louden announces that the fall won't start until Brodie leaves ringside. The Fabs jump Incoherence out the gate, attacking the injured Delirious and using every trick in the book to get the upper hand. After getting the big tag, Hallowicked puts away Shayne Hawke for the second fall to knot it up at one a piece.
Tercera Caida: If you blinked, you would've missed it. Hallowicked gets the rollup for the big pin to send The Fabs packing. Fine match!
