What are your favourite wrestling promotions ever? Care to make a list? Maybe give some reasons, only a sentence or two.
Include any promotions you have ever watched a show of, anything. Even include Local Indy shows that you may have been to, stating that they are local indies of course.
Now I don't want anyone having a go at anyone for their choices. Feel free to discuss some aspects of promotions, but no bitching and that.
Finally i consider WWF and WWE to be different promotions, much like WCW is to NWA and so forth.
1. Wrestling Society X Controversial choice to start with. I was truly sad it got cancelled and for 10 episodes, it was just the best. It was so different and original. Great characters, amazing feel and it was booked really well despite what some people like to think. I miss WSX.
2. World Wrestling Federation For me between 1990-1997 when i was a kid this was the greatest. The majority like to see the best days of WWF to be 97-99 but for me it was good but i enjoyed 94-97 better. Bret Hart. The best.
3. Ring of Honor I've seen a handful of the regular live shows but i'm mainly just a PPV follower. In the start the first 4 PPVs are so were amazing. After tha i felt they just sort of lost faith in the PPVs and stopped booking them properly. It would of been higher if it wasn't for this year's ROH, which has been poor at best.
4. Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling Been on and off TNA since it started really. It was it's best around the time when AJ, Daniels and Joe were fighting for the X Title and Sting and Jarrett had the year-ish long well booked feud. After that it went a bit rubbish.
5. Independent Wrestling Federation Local Indy A local fed that i went to quite a bit a few years back. They once booked Bryan Danielson and i met him. Haven't been in about 2-3 years as it's gone a bit downhill. Also the birth ground of PAC.
6. World Wrestling Entertainment I don't think i'll ever be able to follow WWE like it was back in the days of WWF. Though WWE know how to put on a major PPV and that's why Wrestlemania is so big and i'll ALWAYS watch it.
7. Extreme Championship Wrestling I'm not talking about the new rubbish. The old school Sandman, Rob Van Dam, Sabu, Dreamer, Raven, New Jack, Public Enemy ECW. It was great in the day.
8. Main Event Wrestling Local Indy For one show this was amazing. Christian Cage in the main event and also got to meet him. PAC vs Spud aswell which may seem like nothing to most people, but was a dream match for me.
9. World Championship Wrestling I dunno, i could never get into WCW throughout it's whole existance. The nWo was cool but i missed it being a WWF fan. I've always been a fan of Sting, DDP, Goldberg, Scott Steiner but i just couldn't get into WCW. Shame really.
10. 1 Pro Wrestling I bought their 1st Anniversary DVD a while back out of curiousity. Was a really good show. They had some great Tag Team wrestling, great singles matches and a pretty sick main event. It's gone down a bit recently but it does have the potential to do a great event/match.
11. Real Quality Wrestling It had great production values for how small the promotion was. But it lacked the big stars, and good wrestling. Martin Stone was a really lame champion and with Ricky Knight as a main eventer it was awful. There was some decent matches every now and again though.
That pretty much covers every promotion i've ever watched properly, not just a match here and there.

Umm, how can you compare the switch from WWF to WWE to the switch from (a portion of) NWA to WCW? One was a simple company name change while the other was the purchasing and merging of several companies. WWE and WWF is one in the same no matter how you slice it... please choose one or the other because having both on your list is burning my eye sockets.
1. WWF/E 2. ROH 3. WCW 4. TNA 5. ECW 6. AWA

WWF/E - I was really into it until about 2 years ago, now my interest in it is rekindling, I was more of a WCW guy. WCW - I had a really hard time accepting that they sold up to Vince McMahon, I was and still am broken about it, watching Sting back then is amazing, he got me into the business and I'll never forget him. TNA - Really the only promotion I've followed since the inception, I'm more knowledgeable about them than any other company as their lifespan has been my teenage years, so I've seen it all, seeing Sting at his best has been amazing. ECW - For the characters and all the fun they had, also the fans let you know about it if you were rubbish, it was just awesome stuff. Oh and non of the new ECW trash either . MEW - local indy - A very short lived promotion, only ever had 4 shows, their last one being April 1st 2007, but I got to meet Christian Cage and I got free tickets to every show.

You're kidding right? The WWF was completely different to today's WWE. There is a massive difference between say 1996 and now. Big difference. Plus, it's my list so i'll do as i wish.

WWF in 2000 was different than WWF in 1985... should we seperate these times in WWE's history into seperate promotions as well? Call them WWF A and WWF B perhaps? A wrestling promotion is a business. The legal makeup of a business doesn't change no matter how much the product it puts out changes. No big deal really but your answer to your question is still inaccurate.

TNA - Really the only promotion I've followed since the inception, I'm more knowledgeable about them than any other company as their lifespan has been my teenage years, so I've seen it all, seeing Sting at his best has been amazing. I'm with you there. I watched a majority of the Wednesday PPVs when they actually happened and enjoyed it. I still watch it now for some reason I haven't figured out. I don't enjoy it a whole lot, but I still watch it. 1. WCW, as bad as it could be at times, I liked it more than a lot of the WWF attitude era stuff. If it wasn't for WCW I would've never loved Ultimo Dragon, Vampiro, Jushin Liger, etc. They had an AMAZING undercard. Rewatching a lot of the old Nitros is great. My love for pro wrestling dwindled a bit when it was sold. Wrestling hasn't been the same since. 2. ECW, first time I saw it was the "invasion" of Raw at the Ballroom. I followed ECW from that point until it closed. I loved watching it on TNN, it often made my week. 3. WWE/F, while I grew up on this, it didn't have as much of an impact for me on wrestling as WCW and ECW did. WCW will always be burned in my memory for doing really stupid crapthat I can laugh at. WWE does stupid crapthat I find...stupid. It's really good right now but still. 4. WSX, I loved watching this. I knew it wasn't on par with ROH but it had great talent put on a national level. It could've gone somewhere if MTV didn't change CEOs from what it started production to debut time. 5. TNA, it's at number 5 because it s up too much. They have this weird thing where they have really great times, then they have longer periods of time where it's terrible. Right now they can't seem to decide where they're going. 6. NJPW/AJPW, it's not NOAH I guess in terms of the best wrestling, but they do a great job. The talent they have/ have had is/was amazing. I put both because I can't decide which I like more. One side currently has Giant Bernard, Nagata, and Nakamura. The other has the Voodoo Murderers, Tokyo GURENTAI, etc. Both have Mutoh. 7. DragonGate, the best high flying in wrestling, period. 8. ROH, I love the wrestling, hate the fans. To me pro wrestling is about what's in the ring, not what awesome chant the crowd can make. 9. CHIKARA, great family style indy product. I haven't seen a lot. But any company willing to get Glacier is fine by me. 10. PWG, haven't seen a lot, love what I've seen though. I need to get PWG Sells Out. 11. IWA-MS, for one reason, Punk's final match there. The Golden Vampire, 3 Deliriouses(Delririi?), best comedy-wrestling match ever.

1. TNA: I have really been a TNA mark ever since I started watching it. I have enjoyed the product and most of their talent is, well, talented. I just hope TNA turns things around in the next year or two.
2. WWE: If your a wrestling fan, you have to have WWE up on your list. Everything WWE does is very proffesional and they put on great show. Their storylines are interesting and not to mention, they also have great talent.
3. ROH: Ring of Honor is really the best wrestling you can find, period. All of their wrestlers can work together and put on great matches. However, the reason it isn't in the top two is because the fact that it is still growing. ROH still needs to expand, and because of that, it's number three.
4. Pro-Wrestling NOAH: This is the best Puro promotion I have ever seen, hands down. They have great wrestling and you can't hate any one on their roster. Yes, alot of their guys are overatted but imo, they are all amazing wrestlers. NOAH is also home to one of my favorite wrestlers, Takeshi Morishima.
5. ECW: You have to admit, ECW was very inovating. I'm not talking about the WWECW, but instead the original. They not only had hardcore, crazy wrestling but also good, technical wrestling. However, it sneaks into the top five because ECW was really the first promotion I had exposure to aside from WWE.

WWE, ROH, CHIKARA, PWG, and Pro Wrestling NOAH. WSX wasn't that bad, either.

I was going to take this thread seriously, but I saw that WSX was on someone's list so I decided not to take this to heart.

Roh - The pure action that leaves me on the edge of my seat is what i like the best IWS - They have some phenominall talent there with a spectacular sence of deathmatch CZW - good mix of pure and hardcore or shall I say ultraviolent TNA (Begining - 2005) - when they had the shows at te asylum , i was at the end of my seat with every match they had Chikara - Get some fun , some wrestlers and some fans and you gd you a good company MLW - ........meh it was ok with what it had DDT - Basicallty the Japanese equivalent to Chikara
