Glenn Gilbertti
*i read a few weeks ago on one of the sites that the "best wrestler in the business" had a dark match with the wwe. so i rohvideos.comd this guy and checked him out. no offense to him, but i didn't think he was the "best wrestler in the business" from what i saw. he was decent for the style that he worked, but unfortunately that style caters to a very small niche audience. here's a few of the problems.
most people watch professional wrestling because it's professional wrestling. i would profess that there is zero chance that you're going to draw from the mma crowd by doing fake mma. i think most mma fans would be more entertained by the disco inferno vs. the honkytonk man, because at least they know they're watching a pro wrestling match and not some hybrid ridiculous let's do the mma moves and pretend that the moves hurt and insult my intelligence style. wrestling fans pop more for mr. socko and the people's elbow than they would for a fake guillotine choke hold.
the guy needs a gimmick. i'm sorry, but you can't sell a plain joe to fans that want sports entertainment.
also, for as good as everyone says this guy is, tna has at least ten guys better. evrybody puts over these roh matches like they're the greatest thing ever, but if you put aj and christian cage against the motor city machine guns for 25 minutes, and told them that you needed at least four stars, i'd bet my life that it would be better than anything roh has ever put out. once guys like aj and the mcmg's got out of roh, look how much better they got. there's something to say about the art of selling, which isn't really being taught to the up 'n comers. it makes matches so much more dramatic. it's what causes the fans to suspend the disbelief to a higher level, because now they become emotionally involved subconsciously when a wrestler can convey suffering and despair to them.
i really should open a school someday and teach people how to work. i actually managed to make a pretty good name for myself by dancing around like some schmuck pretending to be john travolta for the past fifteen years. i think i know what i'm doing.

Yes Glen you're right, maybe he should use a disco gimmick to get over.

I saw this and just wonder what ten wrestlers he is talking about. If he is going to throw out a number he should have at least named names.

This is the guy who praises everything TNA does because he's on payroll. He's basically a tool, not to mention I stopped taking him seriously when he said he was a Mid-Carder in WCW.
Yeah... try lower card to jobber...

And we've also had some schmuck making a name for himself pretending to be Marky Mark for the past 5 years....And he couldn't wreslte his way out of a wet paper bag with three sides ripped off.

LMAO, Gilberti couldn't carry Lance Storm's jock. Didn't Angle/Joe 4 get a ton of post-match buzz because of the MMA style build up/match? Compare that with the outlandish crap TNA usually does and the low buyrates they draw as a result.

i'd like to see gilberti attempt to wrestle like danielson, as danielson could obviously wrestle like a disco king and chooses not to...

Wow.
Okay lets see a cruel irony.
"you can't sell a plain joe to fans that want sports entertainment"
Lets see your Joe came from ROH and wasn't some dancing freak he was the hard hitting kick your ass off average joe who could wrestle. He didn't really have much of a gimmick. Lets see he was in TNA's only 5 star match. Which AJ and Daniels never pulled off in there several years in TNA. Disco you must have put your brain in a firey inferno people want too see wrestling not guys from other periods. WCW got its viewers because there was wrestling. When it became sports entertainment with Russo it died.
Bryan Danielson > Disco, Russo, and sports entertainment.
No wonder TNA sucks with this guy as an agent.

Disco has a point. I'm not shitting on Danielson, but if he were to go over to WWE, he would be mid-card because he has no character. We've seen plenty of guys with ability never reach the top for one reason or another. Benoit was better than Danielson, and look how long it took for him to reach the top with nothing but his abilities. Most of the guys in WWE get to the top because of character. Not because they ARE a character, but because they HAVE character. I think Danielson could use some.

Both he and Benoit joined WWE and got WWE title reigns at the same time. I guess Edge REALLY has no character considering it took him eight years to get a title reign. I think Bryan Danielson has more character than people give him credit for. All he needs in WWE is delivery anyway, the writing team unfortunately takes care of the rest. As for gimmick, like I said before... the white guy that is heavily into japanese culture. Have him follow bushido... never cheats, always is respectful towards opponents, exacts revenge by proving his abilities are superior, etc. I can just picture a hype promo consisting of him meditating on a barge on some lake in Japan.

I can see what Disco is saying, simply because WWE doesn't let guys like Danielson wrestle their style. I have never seen Danielson wrestle a short match where WWE would have him do for a dark match or whatever if was. I don't know if he would be nearly as good in that case, because he would be WWE'd, and Danielson's style is best in matches that tell stories and dont rush them. So maybe Disco did see Danielson in a bad match, but not a bad wrestling match, a bad WWE match. I am trying to have my words make sense, but I think everyone will get what I am saying for the most part.
