I for one am very excited for these shows. I am thinking the Sea Donsters have a chance of winning the straps, and going on to defend against Ultramantis and Crossbones (they already have two points). Vin Gerard vs. Drake Younger has me excited in ways I can not mention. And Las Chivas vs. Los Ice Creams should be amazing. I'll keep updating this as the card is updated. And here is the youtube video in which Chikarason booked Gerard vs. Drake.

New blog posted on the Chikara website, from Claudio Castagnoli!7/17/2008: I'm not a man of many words, so let me get straight to the point - Mitch Ryder, I want you in the ring at the next CHIKARA event! You did more than just stick your nose in my business at "Tragedy and Triumph" ... that's a big mistake unto itself! For those who were there, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Mitch Ryder crossed the line when he shot a fireball directly into my face! I've spent the last few days imagining how exactly I'm going to get even with you Mitch, and if I'm simmering now, I'll be boiling by the time I see you next. I've been attacked in many different ways since becoming a professional wrestler. I've been hit with chairs, I've been driven through tables, I've had people try to manipulate me, mess with my head and so forth. But I've never crossed paths with someone so desperate for my attention that they would throw fire at my face! Burning my facial hair and skin is no laughing matter. If you wanted to get my attention, you deranged lunatic, you've got it. Whatever bargain you and Brodie have struck won't protect you from me. It's an old wrestling cliche to say things are personal now - but this is beyond personal. I know you've been everywhere and wrestled against the best of the best. But you've never faced me one-on-one! Did they teach you the expression "quid pro quo" down in Memphis, Mitch? Let me simplify it for you: You hurt me and now I'm gonna hurt you! So on Saturday, August 9th, put your money where your raspy voice is and face me in the ring - if you dare. CCTHAT MATCH WILL RULE.

I really hope that the Sea Donsters walk out as the new Campeonatos de Parejas. They've got to be my favorite tag-team in all of wrestling right now.

New match added! Jimmy Olsen continues his quest against fighting the masked men of Chikara when he faces Fire Ant! So far, Jimmy has unmasked Lince Dorado and Ultimo Breakfast. Is Fire Ant Jimmy's next victim?
Annnnnnnnd, Ultramantis has something to say! I am so excited and happy. Why? Well...watch for yourself...

I don't see the point in bringing in Dr. Cube. Now, Hydra and Donst are going to have to find a third partner, so that they can even up the odds.

So they added Lince Dorado vs. Eddie Kingston at Vanity & Violence, and I thought I should explain.
At the last show (Tragedy & Triumph, on July 13), these two squared off one on one. Eddie beat the living hell out of Lince, and defeated him. After the match though, Lince begged Eddie to continue the beating. Confused by his behavior, Kingston left confused wondering why the hell Lince would want to continue being beaten. Hence, the "Glutton for Punishment?" tag line above their match.
Should make for a reeeeeal interesting re-match.

Another new match: Sara Del Ray and Bobby Dempsey vs. The Fabulous Two!
The Story:
Larry Sweeney, Mitch Ryder, and Shayne (now known as Buck) Hawke used to be the Fabulous Three. They are brash, arrogant individuals who wanted to take over the Chikara promotion. As of late (starting in April) The Fabulous 3 lost many matches because Larry Sweeney got pinned. This made Mitch very upset, and the group argued. Mitch blew his stack at Young Lions Cup VI, Night 3 after the trio lost to the The Soul Touchaz. At the last show, Vanity & Violence, Sweeney announced he is distancing himself from Mitch Ryder as he had his own goals. Sweeney also made it clear that he wants Ryder in a singles match somewhere down the line.
In Ring of Honor, Larry Sweeney is the agent for a group he created called "Sweet & Sour Incorporated". Sweeney runs the group, and two members are Sara Del Ray (hired because she is "the best female athlete in the world today") and Bobby Dempsey (brought in by SnS member Tank Toland, so he could whip that "fat tub of lard" into shape). So it's an interesting dynamic for these two teams to cross paths at the show.
the only way to get a shot at the Chikara Campenatos de Parejas is to accumulate three points. You accumulate three points by winning three tag team matches in a row. If you lose a tag match, you drop back down to zero points. Sara and Bobby have 2 points, so beating Mitch and Buck means they will earn a shot at the Chikara Campenatos de Parejas in the future. Mitch and Buck just had a Chikara Campenatos de Parejas match against Incoherence (which they lost) so they are looking to climb back up the three point ladder. Sara and Bobby have so much more to lose, because as stated, they fall all the way down to zero points if they lose.
I reeeeally hope Sara and Bobby get the win. That would be so fantastic.

I don't see Lince beating Kingston in their rematch. They'll probably wrestle a third time in the near-future, and that'll be a good time for Lince to get his big win.

So Mike Quackenbush vs. Shane Storm II has been added to Reading. This one definitely needs an explanation for new people, and I think it's well worth reading.
Mike Quackenbush is the owner and founder of Chikara, and also trains students at the Chikara Wrestle Factory. Many of the people you see on the Chikara shows (Tim Donst, The Osirian Portal, Lince Dorado, and many, many others) are Quack's students.
Shane Storm is also one of Mike's students, from I think the second Chikara Wrestle Factory class. According to Quack, Shane struggled through the school, but never gave up and always got back up when he was knocked down. Mike was so proud of Storm for doing so. Storm saw two major feats in his singles career: winning the Young Lions Cup III tournament, and is the only Young Lions Cup tournament winner who can say the never lost the Cup, and winning a Mask vs. Mask match against Gran Akuma. Mike was so proud that he teamed with Shane Storm (and Jigsaw) to win the 2007 King of Trios. In 2008, they have taken the tag team scene by storm (pun intended) and racked up three points earning a shot at the coveted Campeonatos de Parejas.
Let's go back to 2007 however: Mike had a long time adversary in Chikara, Chris Hero. Both had been tag partners, but the friendship turned sour, and at "Aniversario?" in 2007, the two had a one on one bout. Being such well known enemies, Quackenbush knew that Hero would know everything he had up his sleeve. Quack then created a submission hold called "The Chikara Special", which he defeated Hero with. Knowing that this submission could beat Hero, Quack taught it to all his students. Quack only teaches the Tecnicos (or "good guys") in Chikara, so this move would be the proverbial edge to all the Rudos (or "bad guys"). Quack also taught everyone how to escape the Chikara special, just in case. That is a VERY important aspect to this story.
Hero went on to a year long losing streak to the Tecnicos, as each and every one of them locked on the Chikara Special. One man that got Hero's ire up was masked marvel Equinox, as Equinox defeated Hero with the Chikara Special in an eight man tag in August 2007. Hero and Equinox had a "Lucha de Apuesta" match in November 2007, where Hero put his hair on the line, and Equinox put his mask on the line. Equinox locked in the Chikara Special...but Hero escaped! Hero won the match, unmasked Equinox, and Equinox became Vin Gerard, one of the most dispicable, vile villians in the Chikara world today. But now we had a question on our hands: Who taught Chris Hero the reversal to the Chikara special!? Certainly not his most hated rival, Mike Quackenbush. This means that one of the Tecnicos betrayed Quack and taught Hero how to get out of the hold.
As I said earlier, Tim Donst is a also a Chikara student. In April 2008, Chikara evil-doer Ultramantis Black caused Donst to suffer a concussion. Black used this to convince Donst that he was also an evil-doer, and a member of Black's group of misfits, The Order of the Neo-Solar Temple. For the month of May, Donst showed up looking evil and such. As it turned out in June, it was all a set up; Donst decided to go to the Rudos camp to try to find out who taught Hero the reversal. The results, were surprising.
As we found out, it was none other then Shane Storm who taught Hero the reversal! Why? Quack's best friend! And tag partner! Well, Shane explains himself in this video:
Needless to say, Quack is pissed, and when they had their first match, he beat the living snot out of Storm. So I don't think this will be any different.

ALL THAT GLITTERS RESULTS! Well, I am conflicted about the tag match. I love Incoherence and love them retaining...but damn it, I also wanted Hydra and Donst to be tag champs. Maybe some day. But for now, they must destroy the Neo-Solar temple and Dr. Cube! I am so loving Vin Gerard's involvement in Storm vs. Quack, and think he is going to be a major part of the whole feud. Him losing to Worker Ant is also interesting, and I want to see this match. Those two seem to click and put one a hell of a match when they're together. Jimmy Olsen continues to rip off masks, and I am still more and more intrigued. I love how Stupefied is now Player Dos! And SSB have one point! I definitely think they have F.I.S.T's number tomorrow night and will get 2 points. I am calling now: SSB is your next Campeones de Parejas. It must happen. Also, a picture of Player Dos: SO COOL.

As someone who has followed Chikara over the last few months, they have a really really good product right now. I'm really digging all of their feuds right now especially Claudio/Lee and Kingston/Lince.
It's safe to say that Quack is the best booker anywhere right now. He's definitely out done Gabe this year because everyone on the roster has an interesting storyline and Quack knows how to use people to the best of their abilities.
Both back to back shows look really good.
