Yeah, last week I applied for a role as an In-store merchandiser. They gave me a call to say they will be contacting me tomorrow.
They will be reading from a script and will be taking note of my responses. Does anyone know what this will entail?
If it goes well, I could be merchandising DVDs and games in a supermarket.
EDIT: They rang, and I passed the 1st lot of interviews. I will have a face-to-face interview within the next week or two.
They asked questions such as:
"what's your communication style" "Give an example of when you worked with a group to achieve something" "Give an example of when you worked as an individual to achieve something"
Just the standard things really.
This is the furthest I've gotten so far.

They'll basically be reading from a paper with all sorts of "real life situations" that may or may not happen in the store. It will basically test how you would handle these situations such as dealing with a shoplifter, dealing with discovering that an employee is stealing etc.

They asked if I would report a family member i lived with if i caught them stealing a lawn mower from out front. I told them no cause if my dad was stealing a riding lawn mower I wouldnt have to push it anymore......I guess being a smartass didnt help

I hope you can get the job. I recently got hired at a grocery store as a stock boy. The interviewer asked me questions like "How would you deal with a rude customer", etc.

If I get asked another "Name a situation where you were in a group setting and worked together to achieve a goal." type question, I'm gonna lose my mind. Seriously, I'VE NEVER BEEN IN THESE SITUATIONS, I CAN'T ANSWER THEM!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Seriously, I'VE NEVER BEEN IN THESE SITUATIONS, I CAN'T ANSWER THEM!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Every place I've gotten a job at has asked that too. You can always make up something that makes you sound like a great team leader. It's not like they'll ever know.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I appreciate it.
And Matthew, I hope I get it too. Sitting around the house is driving me nuts.

I hate abstract questions. Yeah, and I hate the questions that nearly every online application has too. It's craplike, Do you like being in crowds? And then like 10 questions later they ask, Do you like being in big groups of people? And if you don't answer everything on the farthest end of the spectrum, there's no way in hell they'll even consider you.

And then like 10 questions later they ask, Do you like being in big groups of people? And if you don't answer everything on the farthest end of the spectrum, there's no way in hell they'll even consider you. Exactly, those things are worthless. They can't really figure you are what person you are by an online test. I recently applied for a hardware store, and even though I scored above average on the personality part, they didn't consider me for a role.

This is why I get jobs in manual labor, the questions are much better.
"Can you lift stuff?" "Sure" "Do you own gloves?" "I can get gloves" "...ok, you're hired."
The money's great, $10 an hour to push boxes with wheels?
I've NEVER been hired by any place that asks those questions though. I'm personally hoping I get a job I applied for at my college. I would book the entertainment in our university/student center. They always have hypnotists every year, if I get that job I'm going to do my best to make sure that doesn't happen.
