Will AJ Styles ever be seen as a serious competitor again? I mean, I liked the "comedy AJ" at first, but now it's seriously getting annoying and seeing him in god knows how many segments on iMPACT! Acting like an idiot is doing nothing but bad for him.
Obviously it's nice to see him getting a lot of attention, but when that attention is simply for him being a complete and total idiot, it really starts to make you question whether or not he'll ever be taken seriously again by a TNA audience.
Do you think he's already past the point of no return, or do you think there’s still hope for him to become a serious competitor again?

I think since this thing with Angle happened, he might be taken seriously again, but he plays a pretty bad right hand man. It's horrible that they have to have a man that was once TNA's Jesus be a second to a guy who's trying to run TNA.

It's going to take a massive turn to get AJ to be taken seriously. Like, he's going to have to completely and totally brutalize a fan favorite. Like he could Pillmanize Eric Young or something.

It's not that difficult... have him stand up to Angle, maybe give Karen a styles clash somewhere along the way, and his credibility would be instantly restored.

It's not that difficult... have him stand up to Angle, maybe give Karen a styles clash somewhere along the way, and his credibility would be instantly restored. That could work. Or have it come out that Karen was giving incentive for AJ to stay with the angles and Kurt gets pissed |

He is such an incredible wrestler that if TNA would just cut the crap the fans would be willing to take him seriously in a heart beat.

Him with Comedy is gold. But eventually a face turn is in the works, but I dont think yet. They still need that comedy in there...Young? Sharkboy?

his comedy makes him quasi-face already. it will go either way depending on who he decides to backstab. but basically it will turn out that the whole act was a hoax in order to get what he wants.

I think you could easily do an angle where he just snaps. Still the same kind of character (gullible southern boy) but with a crazy streak. Just completely mad.

I think this is turning into a platform TNA is trying to use, to get AJ in the main event. But, so far, it's not working well.
But i do expect this to culminate with AJ screwing both men, and earning himself a title shot, which would put him in the main event. AJ will end up outsmarting both men IMO.

Plenty of people have recovered from being comedy acts Palumbo, Edge, Austin, Big Show, Visera off the top of my head. Lets see if TNA can do the same.
