VH1 has produced countless reality TV shows and almost all of them have been made to DVD. I Love New York, The Flavor of Love, Hogan Knows Best, and Rock of Love have all been made to DVD for our personal viewing pleasure.
Personally, I can't stand neither of these reality TV shows. I am a fan of The Real World, Road Rules, and The Real World/Road Rules challenge, which air on MTV.
My question is... why won't MTV make the three shows I listed above on to DVD? The Real World has been around since 1992, Road Rules has been around since 1995, and The Challenge has been around since 1998. These are obviosuly the most popular shows on MTV, besides The Hills.
The least they can do is put out The Real World/Road Rules challenges on DVD.

They need to released the 84-96 MTV Music Awards on DVD first before they do anything else.

I think the problem with The Real World, Road Rules, and the VMAs would be rights issues. MTV uses all kinds of hit songs by original artists on their shows, but if they want to turn around and sell it on DVD, they'll have to fork over money to each artist/label.
Which is probably the same reason we haven't seen VH1 release I Love the 70s/80s/90s on DVD yet, despite the fact that they'd probably sell well as a novelty gift set.

In the Real World/Road Rules and The Challenge sake, couldn't they just dubb over the music like the WWE does with their anatholgy sets?

In the Real World/Road Rules and The Challenge sake, couldn't they just dubb over the music like the WWE does with their anatholgy sets? Yep. They did that for the first season of Tough Enough and I've read reviews for the Las Vegas season of The Real World that said they did the same thing for that set.

See, if they did it for the Las Vegas season, they could easily do it for the challenge.
I talked to Jillian from Road Rules Xtreme via myspace. She said that she and the other cast members signed for all their likeness to appear on any future merchandise. She also told me she or any other cast member in the HISTORY of the challenge would have NO control over a DVD being made.
So there really is no excuses... unless they are waiting to finally stop airing the shows, which I don't see happening any time soon.

The only shows I want to see on DVD from MTV are The State, Daria, and Liquid Television.
The problem with The State and Daria is both featured music that was never licensed for distribution rights, the same problem preventing The Wonder Years from seeing DVD release.
