Ok, better yet, ignoring the stupid star ratings.
What match/es that you have seen live, on PPV (obviously limited choices here), or on DVD, that have came across to you as the best match/es all year?
It could be the best you've seen, when stacked up against TNA and WWE, or just the best matches that did not get the glory of being televised.
I'll answer tomorrow, but I just hope to get some good input, and I welcome matches that took places outside the states. I do hope though to get some rationale, not just "Nakajima-KENTA was so good, I now read in braille. My eyes refuse to believe there's anything worth seeing after that."

I'd have to say so far, for me atleast, its MCMG/Briscoes II. I loved it. Everything flowed perfectly and theere was never a dull or dragging moment. I think Black/Nigel is up there too, but I believe the tag match just edged it out.

I really liked Kenny Omega vs Danny Demanto from JAPW's Full FN Force. I know people will laugh at me but I don't care. If you didn't see the match you have no right to judge. More people need to see the awesomeness of Kenny Omega. I also enjoyed Ki/Hernandez and Homicide/Kingston/Hart both from JAPW's Reclaiming Hudson show. A Great double main event.
As far as ROH, I think ROH has been a lot weaker than past years where they had a ton of MOTYC by now. At this point all I can really think of is Briscoes/MCMG and Generico/Ibushi. Richards/Ibushi was really good too but I don't know if I'd go as far as saying it was MOTY. I know most were big fans of Nigel/Aries from SOH III but I didn't think the match was all that great. A good match but not MOTYC and the Rising Above match was much better. Some also say Nigel/Black and while the psychology was great and made Tyler into a main eventer I don't think the match itself was as good as it's made out to be. Black/Nigel I expect to have better matches in the future. I have not seen anything past Respect Is Earned II yet so I can't judge past there.
EDIT: Completely forgot about Danielson/Nigel from the 6th Anniversary show.

That beat the living **** out of Gerard/Younger. Your opinion. I think Fire Ant sucks and Drake is miles better than him, and I agree with Gerard-Drake as Chikara MOTY. My overall MOTY is BJ Whitmer versus Jimmy Jacobs from IWA-MS April Bloodshowers 2008. The story they told in that match brought to a close one of the most violent, hate filled stories that IWA has ever had, and the match was legitimately one of the best matches I have ever seen. |
