beta version. version 1.0. TOKYO, JPN (AP) -- In January 2009, the Versus Network chose not to renew their deal with the popular, Sims Championship Wrestling. Despite getting decent ratings on the network, the competition between both, WWE and TNA, was too great for the small California-based promotion to stand a chance in the televised wrestling industry.
Running out of options, SCW owner, Wes Hadley, came to the conclusion that he would have to make the move to a bigger location, in order to keep interest in the promotion. After meeting with Antonio Inoki in Japan, Inoki publicly expressed his high hopes on the idea of the small, yet popular promotion making the transition from the United States to Japan. Being looked at as the "god of puroresu" by many, Inoki was able to find connections that allowed Wes Hadley to set up his SCW wrestling set at the Tokyo Dome.
On a low note, as a result of the company going down financially, several superstars were released from the promotion. However, with Inoki's help yet again, SCW managed to reach a deal that involved both, Pro Wrestling NOAH and Dragon Gate stars, to make special appearances for the promotion. In exchange, the deal also involves Sims Championship Wrestling stars to be making appearances for various Japanese promotions, as well.
Although SCW has lost its television deal, they now have even bigger hopes, as they try to impress a very different Japanese crowd. Only time will tell if SCW will be able to climb their way back to the top of the wrestling world once again. SCW will officially make its re-debut on Saturday, February 9th, 2009, live from the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan.

SCW "Rebirth" Full Results 2/7/2009; Tokyo, JPN (Tokyo Dome)
1) ICHIKAWA defeated Al Bundy with the "735" (5:07). This was a really bad match, but it was awfully funny to watch two lunatics go at it. Surprisingly, the Japanese crowd was really into the match. Watching ICHIKAWA go for the "Kanchou" on Bundy was hilarious, I may add. Other than that, there's not much to say about this bout. DUD. 2) The Red Assassins beat Davey Richards and Rocky Romero with the "Hart Attack" (13:43). Despite not wrestling for quite a while, Assassin and Red Dragon showed absolutely no signs of ring rust here. Some really good stiff wrestling in this match, which the Japanese crowd was really fond of. I'd love to see both of these teams go at it again some time. Truly an excellent tag-team match. ***1/2. 3) Ryo Guilin defeated Spider after he locked in the "Last Chancery" (6:09). This was Guilin's debut match, and he looked pretty darn good for his first time in front of a live crowd. Not to mention, the kid's pretty quick on his feet, and the crowd totally ate that up. Spider put up a decent fight, enough to keep this from being a total squash, anyways. *3/4. 4) Bison Smith and Brad Durden beat Eddie Edwards and Justin Robinson after Durden hit "Project Mayhem" on Robinson (9:25). Fun little match with a lot of the offense coming from Smith and Edwards. Durden's got a very impressive style, mixing in a powerful striking arsenal, as well as some high-flying ability. For those of you who are wondering, Durden's finisher, "Project Mayhem", is a variation of "Sliced Bread #2". **1/2. 5) Naomichi Marufuji defeated Kid Carnage with the "Shiranui Kai" (14:51). At this point, I can gladly say that Kid Carnage impressed the Japanese fans more than anyone has yet. The shots that he took from Marufuji were absolutely brutal. Despite it not being the best, it was my personal favorite match of the evening. ***3/4. -- Intermission break. -- 6) SCW Tag-Team Championships - Mike Bockwinkel and Nick Jacobs beat Speed Muscle after Jacobs hit the "Jacobs Drop" on Yoshino to retain their titles (10:32). Not really a fantastic match, as both teams didn't click very well. Seeing how each man has a completely different fighting style, I guess that's not a complete surprise. Bockwinkel and Jacobs continued their heel antics tonight, as they refused to shake hands with Doi and Yoshino, before the match began. In order to put Yoshino away, Jacobs also had to use his tights for leverage on the pin. The crowd was especially ticked off by that. **1/4. Fourth defense. 7) Jake Furrey defeated Anthony McCraver, Jordan Devine, and Matt Ryland after nailing the "Show Stolen" on McCraver (17:01). Jake Furrey is the new number one contender for the SCW World Championship. You couldn't have asked for a better fatal four-way match from these guys. The crowd absolutely loved this one, anticipating each near-fall to be the actual finish. Not to mention, Furrey and McCraver brawled a lot, continuing their recent feud. Regardless of it being a good match, the crowd really made this one into something special. MOTN. ****1/4. 8) Go Shiozaki, KENTA, and Taiji Ishimori beat Evan Pagano, Mike Bison, and Zangief when Shiozaki hit the "Go Flasher" on Pagano (18:18). What amazed the crowd the most was how much of KENTA's kicks Zangief absorbed. Shiozaki looked very good here, proving why he could very well be the future of puroresu. Go got the pin on Pagano, following the "Go Flasher". The finish made Pagano look somewhat weak, but if the writers are trying to build Go into a serious contender for the SCW World Championship, then I guess the finish was understandable. ***1/2.

Holy crap! I am so freaking glad this is back. The first show was awesome, it brought back memories, lol. The opener was ok, but like you said, it was kinda bad. Glad ICHIKAWA picked up the win. That tag team match sounded insane. It could have gone either way, but I would have liked to see Richards and Romero win since they have more experience. Oh well. Marufuji/Carnage was another great match. Also, once again, it could have gone either way. But I'm glad you went to realistic way and put Marufji over. Jacobs/Bockwinkel versus Speed Muscle sounded like a good match on paper, but when it happened, it was a huge let down. Yet another match that could have gone either way, but I'm glad with the result. The four way match was amazing, definetly the match of the night. However, I was hoping McCraver or Ryland would pick up the win. Anyways, the main event was awesome, but it wasn't good enough to be match of the night. I liked the result, but I would have loved to see Zangief, Pagano, and Bison get the win. The only thing I didn't like about the show was no Safu. Other than that, great way to bring this diary back. Can't wait for next show.

If Go becomes a serious contender, There is gonna be some pretty good defenses from me.

Greatness, as allways I loved the show, I was thinking SCW needed something different and this is deffo it, glad all the characters kept the same, (get rid of Bison) a Go title defence should be good allthough a major mix of styles it would be fun to see, the 4 way was old style SCW with the 4 top stars going at it rather someone else win than Furry still I think too much of a push, Karnage getting chopped to allmighty sounded good maybe build up a japanese deathmatch for him that would bw uber cool, these superstar things look great maybe more on the forign guys, good luck glad to have you back Kame

SCW "Fight to Live" Full Results 2/14/2009; Tokyo, JPN (Tokyo Dome)
1) BxB Hulk defeated Lupin Matsutani and Ryo Guilin after hitting the "BxB Star Press" on Matsutani (6:12). This one could've definately been better, if it were to have gone longer. BxB Hulk was clearly focused on being builded up here, as he has a big match against Shingo Takagi booked to take place in Osaka. Guilin looked impressive, too, but he's still new to the sport, and made some rookie mistakes. Overall, a fun opener to kick off the show. **. 2) Brad Durden defeated Pac with "Project Mayhem" (9:20). Talk about an exciting match. Durden came across as a total narcissist, as he was making his entrance. Pac and Durden had some great chemistry together, even getting in some cool moves that I have never seen before. After raking the eyes, followed by hitting his finisher, Durden put Pac away. **3/4. 3) Red Dragon defeated Nick Jacobs with the "Red Dragon Driver" (8:39). Despite it being a solid match, the crowd really didn't care for anything that was going on. The Red Assassins are challenging Jacobs and Bockwinkel for their tag-team titles next week, so I guess it was somewhat appropriate that they threw two of the contestants in a singles match together. I must say, the crowd seemed pretty shocked when Dragon pinned Jacobs for a three-count. **1/2. 4) Chaz Classic and Johnny Arsenic beat Aces High after Arsenic leveled Redd with the "Dishonourable Discharge" (12:51). In my eyes, this was a pretty meanlingless match. The crowd now knows who Chaz and Arsenic are now, though. I'd love to see Chaz and Johnny have a run with the tag-team titles soon, but as long as heels are the champions, then we're not going to be seeing that. **1/4. 5) Assassin defeated Mike Bockwinkel with the "Dragon's Way" (13:27). Finally, we've got a match that breaks three stars. Assassin dished out his hard-hitting side, while Bockwinkel countered a whole lot of everything that Assassin threw at him. Bockwinkel should've won this one, in my eyes, but I don't know if that would've went well with the storyline. We could very well be seeing new SCW Tag-Team Champions, next week. ***. -- Takeshi Morishima made his way out to the ring with a microphone in his hand. Speaking in Japanese, he explained how he was going to "destroy" Danielson once again, next week. This brought out Danielson, who looked pretty ticked off. "Bring it on" was all that Danielson said, and he immediately went for Morishima's legs for a take-down. Shaking off Danielson like a fly, Morishima proceeded to nail the backdrop driver on him, leaving the Washington native visibly unconcious. Powerful segment here, as we went off to intermission break. -- 6) SCW International Championships - Daz defeated Shingo Takagi with a roll-up to retain his title (16:44). The crowd loved everything about Daz, including his fighting style and mask. Takagi had a lot of trouble matching Daz's speed, but when he did, we saw the International Champion taking a lot of power moves. The finish saw Daz reverse Takagi's "Last Falconry" attempt into a roll-up to get the win. Fun match. ***1/4. First defense. 7) Matt Ryland defeated Nigel McGuinness after nailing the "That's Original!" (21:03). You know, this show was turning into one that was going to be incredibly disappointing, until I saw this bout. You didn't need any build-up for this match to tell a great story. Ryland's been on a losing streak lately, and Nigel's been picking up wins in ROH, left and right. With that being said, people were expecting Nigel to squash Ryland. However, the fight that Ryland put on gave me goosebumps. "Jawbreaker Lariat" reversed into the "That's Original!" needs to be made into a GIF. Absolutely awesome. An early MOTYC, for sure. The crowd absolutely loved this one. ****1/2. 8) SCW World Championship - Evan Pagano (w/ Mike Bison and Zangief) defeated Jake Furrey with "The Calling" to retain his championship (19:51). Furrey was looked at as an underdog here, as he's been in under five matches in his entire SCW career. Pagano absolutely destroyed this kid, but Furrey wouldn't give up. It took both, Bison and Zangief's interference, as well as Pagano hitting his finisher, in order to finally put him away. Another excellent match. The controversial finish makes me wonder if we'll be seeing another rematch between these two in the future. ***3/4. Third defense.

As allways an awsome show alot of good guests (BXB Hulk, Moshima, Danielson, Pac, Mcguiness) Pac losing= Bad, match 4 looks messed up Redd? Cool to see The Red's winning and going for the title, I doubt that we win after 2 victories over them, how dare the fans not like me that much Dragon spent most of his career in Japan, A moshima/Daneilson feud in SCW seems awsome but I say add a SCW guy in there, glad Ryland wan giving him some momentom allways saw him as a tommy Dreamer character as a guy who helped build the company but gets nothing now I say give him a feud with Evan, glad Furrey lost not enogh build up, great show better than your last I say, can't wait for more, character profiles next?, good luck
