Wow, now I see the big deal. I've never read a graphic novel like this before. I can't believe I didn't read it years ago!

Yep. It's incredible how influential a movie can be on what people read.

Well I wont be able to comment on how good it is because I just came back from the library and checked out All Star Superman by G.Morrison, The Dark Night Returns and Watchmen. Just finished All Star and im probably gonna read watchmen next. Can't wait to read it as I really want to see the movie and before I can do that I want to be able to fully understand whats going via a TPB. Odds are im going to loooovee this.

True. I admit that if the movie wasn't coming out, I may not have read it. Yep. It's incredible how influential a movie can be on what people read.

i find it amazing how cynical and critical fans of something can be in terms of people gaining interest in something they've enjoyed longer. it's just like, get a life. i've been reading batman for near my entire life, and i didn't care when there were endless threads both in the comic board or entertainment board that were 'what's the best batman comics' etc. sure it annoyed me, but who ing cares..i obviously would have read the watchmen eventually, it's sad that since the movie inspired my interest i am now a 'bandwagoner'. ofcourse i don't enjoy seeing people like something simply for it's attention it's receiving but who has the right to call someone else that? i think people who attempt to cling to the fact that they read it before anyone else to attempt some sort of superiority or dominance are worse than bandwagoners... fleshyone, that wasn't specifically directed at you but more the comic book society on here.

I finished it and let me tell you something. Im glad I did.
After reading the book I now am going to understand the movie more and really appreciate it more. I also did this for Wanted as well. Not to get off subject of the watchmen but the book was better than the movie, though the movie was great. (Wanted)
Back to watchmen though, I enjoyed it so much because it was book that made me emotionally attached to the characters. Like after Rorschach was captured and they showed a lot of his origin, it made me go "Oh my god, thats why he's like that" and I enjoyed watching the relationship evolve with the silk spectre II and nite owl. When they finally kissed it was like, "Jeez it was about time!"
All in all it was a great, great read and I cant wait for 03-06-09. Now its time to read The Dark Night Returns
