I have never watched TNA, only seen a few moments I caugh here and there throughout the last few years. So the last couple of weeks I decided to watch all or most of Impact to see what it's all about. Awful would be an insult to all shows that are awful. First off, the editing makes me feel like I am watching a variety show, the way they cut from one thing to another, it just seems so artificial and fake that it's unbelievable. However, looking past editing I decided to mainly focus on what I saw in the ring where I did find some positive points. They have some very talented wrestlers and most of the TV matches are short, but not OVERLY short and we see some pretty good wrestling. I am now officially finished with positive remarks ... A few weeks ago I saw Lethal who's apparent real gimmick is a mock of the MAcho Man. At first I thought it was funny this guy is doing an episode dressed up, but I mean ... this is his gimmick, his actual, daily wrestling character. Wooow. Then I saw this black man, dressed up in a Macho Man halloween costume come out and say he "lost his smile" which couldn't be more of a blatankt HBK rip off. I swear to God this has to be a joke. Maybe if it was on Saturday Night Live I'd laugh, but I actually think it was supposed to be serious. Anyway, on the same episode or maybe the week later I proceeded to a guy who looks suspiciously identical to Kane be told by some guy acting suspicuously like Paul Bearer being told he is this guy's son. And also in this episode I saw Shark Boy who I have only heard of before spend half the damn show in some  ing children's bedroom and then pretend he's Stone Cold Steve Austin. Are these guys trying to make their company bankrupt? They might as well come out all dressed up in pink tutu's and wrestle on a giant sponge all night because that'd be about as serious as the show seems. The weird thing is I watched their show Global Impact right after and it seemed to be awesome and I saw a great match with Kurt Angle, great match. They have the talent, but they spend half of their shows with blatant, corny, tongue-in-cheek rip offs of WWE wrestlers or silly, MadTV-like gimmicks and expect to be taken seriously as a promotion. I just don't get how anyone can watch this? I watched it for three weeks and to my dismay a black man dressed up like Macho Man, a skinny sh-t in a Shark costume pretending to be Stone Cold and all kinds of other idiotic, stupid sh-t are actually mainstay parts of the show. I am officially done with my attempt to watch TNA. I don't know if they jsut recently became like this or what because I am no expert so I am giving an objective view of a guy trying to see if I can find this show entertaining. |

I totally agree with you about the editing on the show. All the TNA logo wipes between segments make the show look faker than wrestling really is. Not to mention the fact that there just happens to be a correspondent around for every backstage segment with a microphone jammed right in the middle of everything.

3 years ago i would have defended tna- it really just started getting this way when dutch mantel got the book. they even refer to themselves as sports entertainment now- when before they called themselves wrestling. dutch mantel is obsessed with tna being just like wwe, that isnt tnas strong point [entertainment]
it does look like they want to go bankrupt- which is inevitable if they keep those god awful booking up.

I think this should be locked right about now seeing as this will become a fight.  See, I feel this is someone's opinion on TNA. Which is fine, it's a message board. A place where you debate on topics regarding wrestling, etc. I completely 99.9% agree with everything said here. TNA has been quite bad lately, minus the matches. Their main focus should be on the likes of Sabin, Shelley, Styles, Daniels (not Curry Man), Samoa Joe and Angle. Rather than the likes of washed up Booker T, Kevin Nash. I now only watch iMPACT! when I can (due to work), just to see the likes of Tomko, Styles, Sabin and Shelley. TNA pulled me in with the first pay-per-view, Victory Road. I wanted to order it so bad, but my dad wouldn't allow me to. Once I heard it was on DVD, I bought it and LOVED it. Still to this day Against All Odds 2004 is my favorite TNA pay-per-view... because of Styles vs. Daniels. TNA really doesn't defend itself, when theres 2 gimmicks blatently knocking off of WWE characters. Thats something people do in the independants, not a national wrestling company. Yeah it's pretty depressing to compare TNA's current state to how good they used to be way back when they were doing weekly PPV's and the Impacts on FSN. So many changes....Right when they saw the money and success they achieved after signing Sting was when everything shifted...they started signing all these "legends" and WWE rejects in an attempt to build ratings which led to them burying all of the wrestlers who made TNA what it really is today. I will say that as of late though TNA has been improving their show quality, I actually enjoyed last weeks Impact for some odd reason. If you look back at some of the stuff they did in 2007 it was soooo terrible, just so hard to watch. But since 2008 has broken in I've seen a lot of improvement from TNA.

I like it now, so im going to still watch it. there's been times this year when indeed its been unbearable, but but the past few weeks have been solid. Walter F, you have an opinion, not a bitch gripe and I can respect that. I think though, that some need to take more time to actually follow whats going on and understand what TNA is doing instaed of picking it apart all the time. to be honest, i dont know if I want a wrestling program that doesnt have some entertainment value to it. I spend two hours of my time, I want to be somewhat entertained, not just sit back and watch a bunch of grown men grapple. Tna's made some mistakes...Pac man...cough, and they've made some strides as well. Althought Sabin, Aj, Kaz, etc arent in the forefron of the World title picture, they are getting significat air time and their characters are being exhibited on TV and with more purpose. I think characters need to be built over time. cause as soon as the public is dissatisfied, then what, the company needs to change? It happens all the time...HHH, Cena, Jarret. As soon as peple are fed up, they want the flavor of the month. I think stuff needs time to build and TNA is doing that more now.

They book way too much comedy, and much of it isn't even funny. I thought when they got two hours the bad editing would stop, but it's worse. I like TNA but lets look back to two years ago. They were haveing incredible matches all the time. The PPV's now are good but not even close to what they were in 2005 and especially 2006.
If two years ago you said TNA would have a two hour show on Spike TV, Kurt Angle and Booker T on the roster you would think TNA would be better than ever. I still like the show but what went wrong? They have so much but things don't seem as good as they were two years ago.
It's weird how it works though, because they are getting their best ratings ever at the moment.

There are a cluster of people, mostly on this board that clamor for a more indy style TNA or Retro TNA, yet the current product still shows steady and increased ratings. This is exactly why people need to understand and watch the show for awhile before they come on here and blast away. TNA is not interested in garnering the fans of IWC, but they'd rather try to appeal to the masses, and again, I think of late, they have been doing a nice job of doing just that. just my opinion |

Fox sports network is a sports tier for FOX. Any cable company that carried FOX, carried FSn or and equivalent sister station. By the final contract of TNA on FSN, they're availabilities were over a broader market and accessible , in some form or another, as long as peope had basic cable. Therefore, making the prouduct more readibly available to more households. That said, TNA's highest sustained rating never peaked above .8 and averaged a .6 at it's highest potential average. |

I completely agree. - Although I do have things I don't enjoy about iMPACT! each week, I do enjoy it on the whole and find myself wanting to watch it. We always get a decent enough match, the main events are normally really enjoyable and I don't mind most of the feuds. I think I enjoy TNA because it's just an alternative to WWE (Which I watch mostly.) I know there are other 'alternatives' - but TNA delivers to me the same thing WWE does, entertainment; maybe it isn't perfect, it isn't the best wrestling in the world and there are faults, but I ENJOY iMPACT! on the whole and thats what matters to me. |

TNA always seems to find themselves in a slump. When they do have something good going for them it always seems to crash and burn and they return to recycled gimmicks. I know they can not make every single change in one show, but slowly they can begin to lead it in a new direction. I don't think TNA will go bankrupt, but I also don't think that the promotion is going to grow at all if they do not somehow attract a larger fanbase, and that does not include hiring ex-WWE/F talent. |

For me, Consistency is the key. There's nothing worse than throwing feuds together just for the heck of it or with no build up..ie.. Sting/Angle  ...good match on paper, piss poor and weak ass build up |
