Kante to Chelsea confirmed. That Mendy kid is a similar player though apparently, so it at least softens the blow (slightly).

I'll eat my hat if France win this Euros. They'll be no hat-eating this summer! Well done to Portugal. Got some luck along the way but they were hard to beat and had that bit of quality going forward that they needed.

Yeah I was gonna say, if we're going to call Belgium dark horses, might as well throw the likes of England and Portugal in there as well. I guess Portugal were the dark horses. Still confident in my original prediction that Germany will win though.

Sir Big Nose officially heading to the Premier League.
Should be interesting at least.

This is like some kind of crazy dream for Wales.
Shame they had to be knobs about England getting knocked out, or else they'd have my full support.

The problem with Portugal winning, for a neutral, is that they're not a true underdog like Iceland but they're also not one of the top teams like Germany or Italy so them winning would just come off as....underwhelming.
I wouldn't begrudge them the win if they manage it but considering they'll have to play Germany/Italy/France at some point I doubt they'll win anyway.

That's the worst I've seen England play in a major tournament, in my lifetime.
I mean I didn't have particularly high expectations, quarter-finals would have been pretty good. But to lose in the last 16 to Iceland, the England national team is at one of it's lowest points ever.
And there was no excuses either. At least with the 2014 World Cup, we had a tough group. In 2010, we faced a very good Germany side and should have been 2-2 at HT if not for shoddy officiating.
For this performance though, we were just abysmal. Nothing more to add.

Italy have been brilliant in this tournament.
Not counting the loss to Ireland where they didn't even try.

Sturridge has probably scored more PL goals then Carroll.. Just an overall better talent. Don't they play different positions too? Carroll is a striker, where as Sturridge plays on the right side? I could be wrong, because i don't watch liverpool Sturridge is a striker, he only plays on the right when they play more than two strikers (same goes for England).

Group stages weren't great, albeit with some great moments (especially today). But the knockout stages look awesome.
Predictions:
RO16 Switzerland v Poland Croatia v Portugal Germany v Slovakia Italy v Spain Wales v N Ireland Hungary v Belgium France v R. Ireland Iceland v England
QF Poland v Croatia Germany v Spain Wales v Belgium France v England
SF Croatia v Belgium Germany v France
Final Germany v Croatia

If England don't win....which they probably won't, I want Croatia to win the whole damn thing.

Fair play to Wales, they did a great job on Slovakia and Russia.
People are being too harsh on England though. Those teams didn't park the bus against Wales like they did against us. Any team would find it difficult to break down 11 men behind the ball.
Only the truly world class teams can do it, and then only just about (Spain 1-0 against Czech Republic).

It might be announced near the end of the year but I wouldn't hold my breath.
TNA nearly went out of business last week, I don't think they have the means to announce an overseas tour six months in advance.

....thank for that. For us to get 4 points against two teams who parked the bus, that's not too bad. Kane and Sterling have to stay on the bench. I was in favour of them getting a second chance after the Russia game but they haven't been up to scratch.

Really? I find him to be very bland and overrated. Can't believe anybody would pay that much money for him but then again English clubs these days don't know what to do with their money so they might as well waste 45m on somebody like him. Did you watch the game that just ended? He had what? 20? 30? mental crosses and each one was on point. You could throw a coin up in the air across the pitch and he'd hit it. On the defense he made a big difference too. Quality through out. Edit: Just saw that he was MotM. Just like in the game against Albania. 2 games. 2 MotM. Tournaments can be deceiving. El Hadji Diouf and Andrey Arshavin ring a bell? Not saying Xhaka won't be good but you can't judge a player off 2 games.

Finally, a season where we don't start and finish with a ridiculously tough run.
Pep/Allardyce, Chelsea/West Ham and Arsenal/Liverpool should be fun on the opening weekend. And I think we can get something from Palace.

Forgot to give credit to Italy. My favourite performance of the tournament so far. That Juve backline is brilliant.
And great stuff by Hungary today as well.
