Was the boogeyman 2017 or 2016? If not him and hall are competing for figure of the year. Exclusive: I would say then and now Seth Rollins minus the scan. Ringside collectibles: I would say macho was the best, the hbk has too many flaws imo. For me Boogeyman was 2016 but that line was the borderline 2016/2017 release so I’m sure someone else will say 2017 for it haha. Totally agree about HBK by the way. That figure was a top 3 want of mine for a few years now and it’s not even in my top 15 of this year alone. I literally HATE that there’s no blue on the X’s. I can get past everything else but the blue made that attire pop

I only display so I can't speak on playability, but your ankle comment is 100% truth. Nothing irks me more than a figure that falls over on my shelf when a fly farts and knocks over 4 other figures with it. Which is why there’s stands for the Elites. I’ve yet to see these new Basic arms in person, but Basics are only good for heads and a few part swaps anyway. You can't always put them on a stand though. Certain poses don't allow for it. I sort my shelves by era and certain eras I don't have enough guys to warrant a second shelf for, but I have enough figures that it's almost a little crowded so stands won't fit. Plus, I hate the thought of spending money on stands. It's like when I collected sports cards... hated having to buy cases when I could spend the money on more cards.

This is honestly one of my favorite things to do each year, as I even keep a running list all year long ranking every figure I bought each year. Before I start, I'm not going to get into the debate of what qualifies as a 2017 figure. I don't care what the box says since I open the box anyways. If I got the figure this year and it's not a figure I was playing catch up on, then it's on my 2017 list. You can make your list as you wish, but that's how I do mine.
Figure of the year: TRU Spotlight Finn Balor Elite line figure of the year: E50 Warlord (E51 Scott Hall runner up) Exclusive of the year: TRU Spotlight Finn Balor (Target NXT Basic Balor runner up) Ringside Exclusive of the year: Wolfpac Macho Man (non-demon Balor/DX Shawn Michaels runner up) PPV Themed figure of the year: Wrestlemania Brutus Beefcake (Summerslam Finn Balor runner up) Basic line figure of the year: B76 AJ Styles (B74 Kane runner up) Basic style figure of the year: NXT Finn Balor (TRU Spotlight Sting runner up) DM of the year: Macho Man Randy Savage Battle Pack of the year: BP47 Hart Foundation (BP45 DX runner up) Retro figure of the year: Retro series 2 Sting (retro series 1 Warrior/series 2 Kane runner up)
This year wasn't as strong for me from #1 to last as last year, but this year seems to be more top heavy for me than last year... meaning the 1 through 20 or so are very close for me whereas last year after the first 8 or so kind of dropped off.
What do your lists look like?

Yeah my Virgil was pretty beat up as well. Nothing major on mine, but lots of little creases and smudges on the plastic.

I like the newer arms better. I wish they would put the new arms and ankles on Elites. I don't get one Elite figure that doesn't have a loose ankle or bicep swivel, so I would prefer to just eliminate those joints all together. Plus, having the arm/shoulder be one solid piece adds to the realism. It just looks better in my opinion. The new arms really don't cause any lack of play-ability in my opinion anyway. You are just swiveling a the elbow instead of the bicep. I only display so I can't speak on playability, but your ankle comment is 100% truth. Nothing irks me more than a figure that falls over on my shelf when a fly farts and knocks over 4 other figures with it.

So I was just thinking about this... what do you guys think makes for a more desired figure? An iconic event attire or a promotional photo that was used everywhere but may not have really been seen on tv? Ultimate Warrior and Macho Man come to mind when I think of this question. They both had promo photos that were EVERYWHERE when I was younger yet were maybe used at a Superstars taping at best, yet those attires stand out to me. Then you have the attires that may have been a part of a famous match, yet were never seen again.
What do you guys think?

Do you guys blend the older line of ML with the new ones? I'm starting very far behind many of you and I'm not sure if I want to start buying the older figures to fill in my lines or just wait for new ones. I would recommend just waiting it out. It would be one thing if you already invested in the TB figures and just wanted to display a complete roster on your shelf, but the old figures are inferior to the stuff coming out now. Don't spend the money on something you're just going to replace. If this Fox/Disney deal goes down, we're probably going to see exponentially more X-men figures. Seems like most of the major wants in guys like Gambit and Nightcrawler are just around the corner anyway. Cool thanks for looking out!

I was actually doing this research a little bit last night when I was adding a new bookcase to space out my figures. The basic is really close but lacks the back of his tights designs and the hearts on the leg, so I display it as his singles run before that final Hart Foundation run which is before he won the IC belt. And then the RSCE is technically a RR93 replica which means it's a World Title figure but I actually use it to represent his WM8 IC title win over Piper. Unfortunately, we don't have a true IC belt Bret yet, which is something I really want, so for now either of those will do in my opinion. His IC run had those sharper hearts on the front and is also when he started to use the skull, and that's when he started to change his tights designs.

A mixture of mostly memory, sometimes the back of the box, and a little bit of Google is the best recipe.

Not that I don't expect these to be everywhere shortly, but my impatience makes me pretty happy that I didn't wait until Black Friday 2.0 (if there even will be one) expecting to see Brutus on sale.

dude... i love it! Random question... the binders with "magazine" on the side, are those in sleeves that have three hole punches on them? Yes. 3 ring binder with plastic sleeves for the old school WWF Magazines! They are actually my favorite part of my collection. Glorydaysofwrestling we’ve got another magazine guy here!

This is my number 1 Sting want and that’s coming from someone who’s sick of crow Stings This is THE Crow Sting I would've wanted had Starrcade '97 not been made. Or this one... Haha as soon as I posted my last response I realized I forgot this one. These are both instant buys for me.

I'd rather get 10 Surfers before another Crow, but gritting teeth 1999 w/ short hair and appropriate facepaint and 1996 with straight lines on the eyes and mouth would be appreciated. This is my number 1 Sting want and that’s coming from someone who’s sick of crow Stings
