Finally got complete figures (well, minus a few title belts) of Sparkle's "Wrestlers of the World" series. First, here's the box. (There's a ring in there somewhere.) Now, here are the figures. Whatever you do, don't try to swap the heads. I used to have two Fearless Frenchy's. (The peg is oversized. Once you get it out, you can't get it back in. They are not like Remco's.) Next, here are some figures I found in L.A.'s Toy District, home to one billion sets of "Boxing King" wrestling figures. One shop also had this set. Gears? Oh. Gear. I get it. There's always a crutch. Let's look at our wrestling greats. Is that Alex Riley on the right? It's Brazo de Oro - SUPER PORKY!!! Is that Underfaker or HHHaitch? Pretty sure that last guy is Chris Daniels. Almost forgot the prize that they are all fighting for. Al Tomko, rest in peace. The day before I went to the Toy District, I found this set in a mini mall in Hacienda Heights. Yay! Finished off that set. The next day, in the same shop where I found the Porky and Friends set, I found these keychain wrestlers. "We were all much cheaper than the four-guys-and-a-ring sets." Hey, isn't that Y2...? Y2...? I'll remember. From another Hacienda Heights discount store came these four packs. Isn't that Saul Manley from BRIS? And isn't that second guy "Big Daddy Pump" Scott Reiner? Sure looks like it. Why does he need a second mask? Hmmm... Y2L? Y2S? I'll get it. Got these guys from the plastic tub at the end of my bed. It's where I sit when I watch TV in the bedroom. Somehow, the fact that the bubble around his face is smashed in seems appropriate. Owen, we still miss you. Dave "Kid" Cash? Pygar from Barbarella? Uhm...ooooo. Loose pics. Jane Fonda? Seriously, dude? Also in the box at the foot of my bed was this priceless collectible. Oh, wait. My bad. It's worth $1.90. "Mommy! (sob sob) Billy hit me in the head with his Hulk Hogan flash light!!!" Remember, you are your own best Brand. Next, here's a set of familiar, ahem, faces I got off the bay. Reiner with dark hair. Dude has a stem on top of his head. Y2X? Y2G? What was that name? Perfect accessory choice, there, guys. NOTE: This is not the original Saul Manley! This guy is obviously a different wrestler trying to cash in on the original. Don't be fooled. And don't pay him $20 for a Polaroid. Terrible paint job. Uh, the ubiquitous chainsaw. This guy is my all-time favorite bootleg. Now that's a mohawk! See all these Super Stars at: Coming up this month, somewhere in Georgia. This post has turned into a Herb Abrams UWF TV taping. "Just a few more pictures, folks." Found another Wrestle King star at AJ Wright. Enak, the Big Red One. In order to celebrate my largess, AJ Wright is going out of business next week. Thanks. Shaggy "Sasquatch" Shagamapotomous says, "Wrestle in Peace, Jorge "Giant" Gonzalez. We hardly knew ya."

Hey, those are neat. Here are bigger Rockin' Wresting Champions figures. Don't remember all the names, but the Sting knockoff on the right is also called Grave Diggin' Gene. The guy in front of him is Iggy Omega. Don't remember the rest of the names, but I'm pretty sure none of them was called Rough Rudy. Where did you find the small ones? I found them in a dollar store in a mall in La Vale, Maryland in the mid to late nineties. The bigger ones were sold at Dollar Trees in California.

Those are cool. Actually just found the John Studd knockoff at a swap meet on Sunday. Loose, not MOC like yours. Nice little collection you have there.

Been to three K Mart's. One had the Hall of Fame figures on the display and no season four in the entire store. Two had all season four figures but Smash.
Skipped series 2 and 3. Buy two get one free seemed like a good deal for series 4. No Smash, no sale. Would pay $60 for the set. Not paying $90.

Sorry for not getting back to you via IM.
Other than in Mexico, the only place I know of where you can find the CMLL figures is at Highspots.com. I got the first series of them from there. The rest came from mtzwear.com, which is a Mexican company that makes masks (they no longer sell figures), and from stores in Tijuana, specifically Comercial Mexicana, Casa Ley, and Dorian's. Haven't been to any stores in Mexico since the new passport requirements went into effect last year. Don't think this is much help, but there you are.

Most of these guys will be unemployed and forgotten about in 2 years anyway, so it's a moot point to release any of them in that sense. WWE is a 18 month cycling company now. Guys who are getting TV time now, won't be in 18 months. You got that right. To me it has always seemed like WWE waits for these guys to get important enough to warrant an action figure, then immediately releases them, either prior to, or just after, the figure gets released. Just count the number of times this has happened. It's almost as if they are screwing with the marketing folks (or, I guess, the action figure producers) at the expense of these people's careers, just for the sake of some morbid joke.

To all who have asked, here are the UPC codes: Sydistiko - 43377 25144 Marco Corleone - 43377 25141 Tinieblas Jr. - 43377 25142 Charly Malice / Manson - 43377 25003 Super Nova - 43377 25145 Lizmark Jr. - 43377 25143 Tinieblas Jr. Combo Pack - 43377 25232 Super Nova Combo Pack - 43377 25231 Hexalateral Wrestling Ring - 43377 25111 That word again is hexaleteral. For the guy who asked, the Kemonito figure came from the officially licensed Hag Distribuidoras line of CMLL figures. There was also a AAA line of Rock'em Sock'em Luchadores that included Charly "Manson" and others. Keep the faith, figure fanatics! Yay, 100 posts!

Took me a while, but, here are the ones I found at AJ Wright. These are terrible. Just terrible. Stocky Malmoa "Uh...duhhhhh." Triple Й Johnny Thunder Jon Seena Scabu Ron Norrison Ryan Hendrick Rex Rugar Or is it Marc Singer? Mr. Fitzgerald / Mr. Cooper "M - A - D - R - N". I have no joke here. Just "M - A - D - R - N". Wow. Swogglehorn Falkenberg Jimmy Ang Chang Saul Blondon and, finally, Nick Woley Or, as my friend Brian called him, Moondog Spot (or is it King?). Back of the card: Accessories: WCCCW Title Belt Barbell Joints are ridiculously loose on some. Others can't stand. Sly Stallone's legs are not the same length, plus his right arm won't go down. JAKKS reject parts? Uh, yeah. Enjoy!

Single figures are $9.99. Figures with masks and accessories are $19.99.
Super Nova and Tinieblas Jr. also both come on single cards. I'll add pics if / when I pick them up later.
Can't believe these are in WalMart.

After Cyber Monday's big Generic / Knockoff / Bootleg haul, I decided to hit up more local Cali swap meets. Here's my Super Wrestling haul from the Pico Rivera Swap Meet and the Paramount Swap Meet. First a mini-figure four pack. Aren't those the OutCold guys? Hmmm. Next here are some single-carded figures, champions all: Wolf? Surprise. Leo. That is your name, isn't it? Hey, it's Edgar Lopez! and finally: It's Hurricane! I mean Nightmare. Now here's a four-pack, with masks: and a four-pack with title belts: Hey, "Wolf" was in both of those sets. Why did I buy these again? Did manage to find a new mini-figures-and-ring set. The box says that these are the "Super Wrestling" guys, but they're actually OutCold minis. Hey, it's Sly Hammer. Or Travis Tremor. Or a red Volador, Jr. Seriously, it is a red Volador, Jr. Dude. It's Keith. Or Wolf. It's Keith Wolf. It's definitely not Volador, Jr. Nice blue Mistico, though. I saved the best for last. Here's another giant playset. Bit of a discrepancy between who is listed on the box and who is in the set. Several familiar faces there, but it's actually who's not in the box that's interesting here. Let's take a look at the back of the box. Keep that Hell-hound on that leash! Who are all these Super Wrestling superstars? Hugh (Leo? Bobby the Bone Cruncher?) Trevor Frank (Frank Wolf - Punk Rock Wrestling Superstar) Barry (or Edgar Lopez?) Isaac ("Sugar" Isaac Gregory? "Sugar" Isaac Shane? Isaac?) and, finally Oscar (Grouchy much, dude?) Well, that about does it for Generic Wrestling Figure Haul 2010. Hope you enjoyed it. Remember to never forget those that came before us. Or them, I guess. Wrestling Federation Didn't cwfpro already post pics of these? Happy Holidays, everybody!

In honor of cwfpro, I spent Cyber Monday in search of new Generic / Knockoff / Bootleg figures. Hit up AJ Wright and the Anaheim Marketplace (a giant California Swap Meet), among other places. Enjoy. First, large Outcold Wrestlers. There are two-packs: and three packs: Now medium-size figures (cwfpro already showed carded shots of these guys, so here they are loose): Finally, here are small Outcold wrestlers: Hey, aren't those the same rings the CMLL mini-figures came with? Anyway. Lest we forget, giant Outcold medium-sized figure playset: Now. let's play the Outcold name game. First, large two-packs: ...and large three-packs: Now, cwfpro's medium-sized figures: and the small (mini) figures: Enoch? Sorry, sorry. Now, the five-man playset: Exactly who is Leo? Where was I? Best name of the bunch: Edgar Lopez. Hands down. Here's everyone together: Make shelf space, Bootleg figure fans. This is only: Enoch? Also found these mini-figure sets: Again with the CMLL mini rings. Here are the little guys with their bigger counterparts: While we're at it, here's the rest of my Generic set-up: Those guys in that last picture really, really suck. Finally, here are some non-Outcold Knockoffers: One can never have too many blue Mistico's...er, Enoch's. Super Wrestling, indeed. Sid says, "This all makes my leg hurt real bad." Happy Figure Hunting, Everybody!

Instead of printouts, it would be nice if they would send you a sheet of the name tags with the stands. They do that, I'm a happy man. Seriously, wouldn't mind paying an extra dollar or two if the figures came with the stands AND/ OR other accessories.

Here's a thought. Instead of cutting the stands and name tags, how about cutting the PPV sets. Lots of people still haven't even found Basic 6 because the PPV series are clogging shelves. Not to mention the overabundance of "Best of..." figures. Instead of skipping the stands and name tags, skip the repaints and you'll make a lot of people happy + save money on paint, plastic, and packaging.

For me, the problem isn't the price point. It's a matter of getting what I pay for.
I am an adult collector who has collected set after set of wrestling figures from many varied companies over the past sixteen years. I have paid hundreds of dollars for Japanese figures. I have traveled to Mexico for Lucha Libre figures. I collected JAKKS WWE figures and continue to collect their TNA figures (Still don't get all the hate. The economy + losing the WWE contract has caused JAKKS to lose tons and tons of money, along with tons of employees.) I have collected Mattel Basic figures from the start. I did the same with Mattel Elite and Mattel Legends for the first few sets. I have one simple problem with Mattel's deluxe figures and, sorry, but it's a deal breaker.
It's not the price. It certainly isn't the detail. I have stopped buying Mattel deluxe figures because fifteen dollars is too much to pay for an American wrestling figure if the figure does not stand.
Like everyone else, I waited for years for a Rick Steamboat figure. Even as I paid for the figure on the day it was released, I looked down, saw the ankles and had a feeling what I was in for. In the end, I had to take the advice from several collectors on this board and go out and buy super-glue and glue the figure's ankles to get it to stand. I then went back and glued the ankles on several other deluxe Mattels. I realized that when all was said and done, I was paying $15 for each figure + tax + $3 - $6 dollars on glue for a set of six. It just isn't worth it.
It's not the price, as much as it is the quality. Mattel needs to prove to me that they have corrected their quality control issues before I go back to spending $90 on a new set of Deluxe or Legends. And I really want those Legends. Just not that bad.
BTW, The whole idea that Basics are for kids and Deluxe are for collectors has me scratching my head. Basic have limited articulation, but they display very well. Deluxe have multiple points of articulation, which make them much easier for kids to "wrestle" with. How are Basics the kids figures?

TNA Cross the Line 2-packs have hit the U.S.A. Found them tonight at the Moreno Valley, California Toys R Us. $17.99 each. Also, for UFC collectors, first (to my knowledge) appearance of UFC Build 'n Brawl figures. Hopefully, they sell better than the WWE ones did.
