I'm gong to assume you all know what Jump the Shark means. If you don't it means when a show has become unwatchable. I have been a fan of LOST since it's debut but it's first episode of this year was confusing as hell. All this time traveling garbage is meant to only add new twists to a show running out of steam. It's sad because the show was so addticitve now I think it's time to end one of my favorite shows off all time. Thoughts?

It jumped the shark the minute there was a polar bear and smoke monsters.
Its a sci-fi type show, people need to deal with all the silliness that comes with it, thats what makes it so fun

I still love Lost and the confusion of the show only makes it better because I can't wait to see why that particular thing happened and such. The only season to me that was pretty bad was 3, 4 was pretty amazing and 5 is probably going to turn out to be amazing and I can't wait to see how the show ends.

No I do, hence the point of my comment. Jumping the shark refers to such crazy things such as Polar Bears in the jungle, smoke monsters killing people and other crazy things that make people wonder "What the is going on"

I enjoy Lost, but it jumped the shark in season 2 when they revealed a guy was living in the hatch.

There is no jumping the shark with this show, it is beyond sensible, it is silly and frustrating and kinda dumb at times, but thats the point, thats what it makes it unique.

Some people don't seem to understand what the term "jumping the shark" means.

Jumping the shark is a colloquialism used by TV critics and fans to denote that point in a TV show or movie series' history where the plot veers off into absurd story lines or out-of-the-ordinary characterizations, particularly for a show with falling ratings apparently becoming more desperate to draw viewers in. In the process of undergoing these changes, the TV or movie series loses its original appeal. Shows that have "jumped the shark" are typically deemed to have passed their peak.

I watched the show for the first two seasons. When there was no pay off for any of the questions raised in the show and all they did was keep raising more questions, I got pissed off and tuned out. Haven't felt the need to watch since. I don't think I'm asking for too much to want a ing payoff every now and then.

Considering its got a clear end point now I think that it should be clear that they are working towards a clear and definitive end for the show.

It's pretty much a show that they can change the plot of at anytime..... hence "Sci-Fi"

Considering its got a clear end point now I think that it should be clear that they are working towards a clear and definitive end for the show. That may be so now. Like I said, I haven't watched since the finale for Season 2. Back then it didn't look like it was going anywhere so I tuned out. Also, sci-fi is not about changing the plot all the time. That's not sci-fi. Would people have watched Star Trek if they spend 2-3 episodes exploring strange new worlds, then spend a half a season colonizing some planet, then it's revealed that the planet doesn't exist and they're actually trapped inside some machine on earth in the present, then it's shown that they really are exploring the universe and were never on Earth or in the present or trapped in any sort of machine. It would make no sense and no one would watch.
