I'm getting fed up of the Commentators, mainly on Smackdown, going dead silent when something shocking or good happens, it's completely ruining the moment. They did it when Jeff Hardy won the WWE Championship, and again when Matt screwed Jeff at the Royal Rumble on Sunday. I don't know wether they're trying to be dramatic or what, but it's spoiling what would be memorable times. Event the scale the Announcers are going to lately, they just don't sound fussed about anything. Look at this for example, the end of the Royal Rumble 2001 Match. JR makes it sound incredible; www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/royal%2Brumble%2B2001/video/x65xuq_royal-rumble-2001-16-of-16_sportNow compare that to how he reacted on Sunday when Orton won...

Really? I think it works so much better. Like Matt turning on Jeff, they were left speechless. There didn't need to be words. If you want a good counterpoint, TNA never shuts up when something happens and it ruins the moment. Sometimes, there need not be words, and yes, it makes things more dramatic and adds a lot more.
And you can't compare Stone Cold winning the Rumble to Orton; Orton is a heel and won by cheating methods, whereas Austin was the babyface who JR is a mark for.

Trying to make it seem more realistic I guess. Like that time when Matt was fired and he "invaded" the WWE and attacked Edge, there was no commentary during it and no mention of it later on, they just wanted it to seem real maybe.

At least J.R. wasn't sitting there yelling "THIS IS THE GREATEST NIGHT IN THE HISTORY OF OUR BUSINESS!!!!!!!" when Randy Orton won.

It's just because JR always busts a nut for Austin.

I think Smackdown may edit comments out from the show but i do agree that it seems to be happening more often and even live at the Rumble, annoys me somewhat because it seems to happen a little too much at the moment

I hate it aswell, its just so pointless, just takes away from the moment, plus it happens all the time now

it adds to it, imo. not everything that just happens need to be re-explained to the audience, let the moment speak for itself right then and there. you know there will be plenty of video packages shown if you really need what happened explained to you.

It's to emphasize drama. Go watch TNA and you'll learn its importance. During a serious moment all emotion is killed by Don West going "OH MY GOD ARE YOU SEEING THIS!!!! HE JUST DID __________ (detailed description of what just transpired)". WWE knows how to do it right.

The whole Matt/Jeff ending of the Royal Rumble needed now commentry. But when Jeff won the title, the silence ruined it.

yeah it was reports that came out saying vince er whoever told commentators to not say anything to add to the realism.
but honestly, a couple times it works, but with the many dramatic moments in WWE, how can you be speechless for everyone of them?

It is suppose to add drama to whatever just happened.

I dunno, I miss the old "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?! THAT SON OF A BITCH!!! WHY?!?!"
There is so much silence with the commentators now it's horrible. Smackdown has some of the worst announcing I've ever heard, and Raw isn't that great. ECW's announcing is great but Striker is starting to get a bit annoying...the Rumble was the first time I was annoyed with him.

I didn't mind it when they did it sparingly, but its used WAY too much nowadays.
