Just wondering if anyone else remembers those awful UK-exclusive PPVs they used to run? Looking back, it's crazy. We got all the real PPVs free on Sky Sports, but twice a year, WWF/WWE would come over and put on a half-assed two-hour show with only half the stars because the others were wrestling on a house show in the states. They put guys on those shows that wouldn't get a sniff of a PPV in the US.
And I think apart from the last couple of years they did them, they didn't even do a house show tour. They just came over for one night for the PPV. (I might be wrong on this but I don't remember any WWF house show tours here between the Attitude Adjustment tour in April 99 - which was the first one since late '96 - and the Raw tour in April 2002.)
One Night Only, the first ever UK PPV, was a decent show, with three good matches:
Owen vs Vader
Bret vs Undertaker
Bulldog vs HBK
I think the worst one was No Mercy in 1999, which included Mideon, Gillberg and Tiger Ali Singh.
Perhaps the best one (though I've never seen it all) was Rebellion 2001, which featured The Rock vs Stone Cold, and an Edge vs Christian cage match.
The only one I went to was Rebellion 99, which had a main event of Rock vs HHH in a cage match... Which was also the main event of Raw that had been on Sky Sports the night before.
The thing that used to bug me about these shows was that the lineup was not only poor, but also the WWF always seemed to change it on the day of the show (apart from One Night Only). Not that they really promoted the card anyway and nothing on the shows really mattered, but for about two or three weeks beforehand we'd get a list of matches, then they were always different on the night.

I liked Insurrextion 2000 & 2002 and Rebellion 2000. I remember being exicted becuase Shane O Mac had a chance to win the WWF title. Plus from 2002 HHH vs Taker, If I can recall being a quite good match. But Rebellion remains my favourite British PPV, becuase it was the first PPV I ordered on SBO, and the hole card was decent.

I have Rebellion 2001 on DVD. Must be quite Rare now. Good PPV though, had The Rock vs. Austin for the WWF Title, Jericho vs. Angle for the WCW Title, Christian vs. Edge for the Euro or IC Title and some other good matches including Dudleyz, Hurricane, Regal and Tajiri.

I'd like them to bring back Insurrextion or Rebellion tbh.

I went to Insurrextion 2003.
It was my first event so that was cool, but the card was terrible.
The best thing was the Highlight Reel with Jericho, Bischoff and Austin.

The best thing was the Highlight Reel with Jericho, Bischoff and Austin. Aye, that was brilliant to see live. Rebellion 2002 was probably the worst show I went to. Paid like £50 for seats up in the sky and it was a pretty crap show overall. House shows were always better. |

The best one they had was Rebellion 2001. I loved the finish to the cage match were Edge hooked Christians feet in the cage and climbed out if I remember correctly.

No Mercy 1999 was legend though , i have no idea why i like that show.

Edge vs. Brock Lesnar & Chris Benoit & Kurt Angle vs. Los Guerreros were 2 Fantastic matches at Rebellion 2002 & I reckon that was the match that solidified Edge as a Main Event star even though it would be another 4 years before they put the belt on him. His match with Brock was a solid outing & a solid Main Event. Rebellion 2001 had a Stronger Card & a lot more Star Power, was Pissed Off there was no Rob Van Dam & Booker T though when they were both advertised for the show & I was looking forward to seeing those 2 specifically & Kurt had just turned Heel & joined the Alliance the week before coming over here, Twats!  |

All UK PPV's were crap tbh.
They were nothing more than glorified house shows, the matches on some of them would be lucky to main event Sunday Night Heat!

I'm not as down on the UK PPVs as most people are. I know there was a lack of title changes so you felt like the PPVs were "missable", but the fact is those PPVs did provide some CLASSIC match-ups for those people that bothered to tune in.
The Angle/Benoit vs. Guerreros match from Rebellion 2002 anyone? Probably the greatest match from the entire "SmackDown Six" feud.
