So I figured I'd share with everyone here what was going on in my life. I was laid off of my job on March 26, which was two days before the last official FCW show that happened. I worked as an Inspector and a Rigger for the world's largest parachute manufacturer, and I had been there since December of 2007. Things we're going really good with my job but unfortunately, due to the ascending economy, I was laid off in a budget cut without about 20 other people.
So it's been over two months now. I've went job hunting everywhere there is to go in my entire county which covers a wide radius. Matter of fact, I think Volusia County might be one of, if not the biggest county size-wise in the whole state of Florida. I've went everywhere there is to go. Other manufacturing jobs, retail stores, construction etc. I've even tried with restaurants and fast food. I've tried going to hiring agencies and temp services. Not one call back yet. And to make it even worse, I still haven't received my unemployment compensation yet. I'm garunteed to get it, it's just a matter of when that I'd like to know. But even so, it only last for 5 months and it's not close to the money I was making before.
My fiance is on and off when it comes to jobs, so she really doesn't have work on a consistent basis. So I figured that due to the both of us being un-employed, I could take advantage of this and get some benefits off of our good old government. After all, we got a that I absoloutely hate as President, so I don't mind stealing out of his budget one bit. Thankfully, I got accepted for 500$ a month in food stamps, but I got denied for financial aid. Then I figured now would be the perfect time to try and go to college. I applied for a Pale Grant, but I was denied. They told me that my parents income was too high, even though I live on my own and have for quite some time now. But because I'm under the age of 21 until December, I'm still considered by the government, to be under there care.
Speaking of 21, I actually quit drinking. Most of you knew I was turning into a straight alcoholic, but I've been sober for a month and a half now, and really don't care for drinking too much anymore. But I won't say that I've been completely sober because I haven't. I've smoked some pot from time to time, which doesn't really hurt anyone, and I was eating beans like every other day for a month straight, but I've cut back on that now to. So all in all, I am doing a whole lot better than I was.
But back to the whole point of this. Since there is no work around here, and since I've been denied a grant for school and have no money of my own to pay for it, I have decided to join the military. Nothing is set in stone yet. I did take the ASVAB test and got a high score of 82 on it, which helps with my enlistment bonus. I'm going down to Tampa this Friday at Meps to do a physical evaluation and personality test to see what kind of job they can offer me. I'm looking at either the Air Force or the Army, but the Army is willing to pay a decent amount more right now, so I'm actually leaning towards them. I took ROTC in high school, so I'm already garunteed at starting out as an E3 in any branch, which means I'd be two ranks higher than the lowest. Which in turn, means more money. When I do enlist, it will only be for the minimum of three years and there are plenty of jobs open that have no chance of being deployed oversees. In fact, I'd probably be stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia which is only a 6 hour drive, so I won't be that far away at all.
So now that you guys kinda have an idea of what I've had to deal with over the last several months, it's pretty self-explanatory why I haven't been around much online or trying to run shows. I do want to apologize for the last FCW show kinda getting cancelled at the last minute, but the reasons for that we're out of my power. The Land Lord showed up just days before, at Chris Carnage's house telling him he was evicted for not paying rent and basically destroying the inside of the house, so the show got cut off real quick.
With all this being said, when I do enlist, the earliest I'd be sent off to basic training wouldn't even be until September, but it could be as late as January. There might even be a possibility that I could be put on reserves for up to 5 years before being called up to active duty so I can't say for sure just yet when and where I'll be going until I go down to Meps in Tampa this Friday. And when I do find out, you guys will be the first to know. I know alot of you have tried getting a hold of me and I know I've blown alot of you off and ignored, but now you can kinda understand why.
S.O.S and BYH will be two of my last shows. Depending on when I get shipped, I'd like to do FCW Rise to Honor at Patrick's house sometime in October or November, and the possibility for a fourth installment of BYX isn't completely out the window just yet. So I really hope to see alot of you old friends at these coming events. I've had a blast working with and for you guys over the past few years, and I want to thank you for working with and for me. We wouldn't be where we are today without the team effort of everyone and I pray that it continues on in the future. I share some of my fondest memories and some of the best times of my life, wrestling in the beat down ring, in that dirty backyard that resides on South Hercules Avenue in Clearwater, Florida. You all hold a special place in my heart and soul and it's going to be hard having to walk away from something that I've based my life around for so long. Once again, I really hope to see all of you out there at least one more time before I go. The drama between everyone has seemed to die down, so let's go out there and have fun the ACW way these last few chances that I'm going to get.
If anyone remembers the promo I cut after dropping the title to Nick this past January, I still stand by every word I said, and it was all as from the heart as it gets. It's time for the future to stand up and carry on a legacy. A legacy that has been going on for nearly two decades now. I'm talking about the legacy of BYW as a whole. Everyone says it will die, but it never will. As long as wrestling on T.V. exisits, kids in backyard all over the world will try and emulate it. Wether it be good wrestling, or yard tards, it will never die. Those that know what good wrestling is, I urge you to continue with it and when you reach the right age and time in your lives, take every oppurtunity you can to go pro. There are so many of you that have special talents and a world full of potential.
