know a song with really really good lyrics? for me this one pretty much sums it up:
Miklagard Overture by Turisas
The song (and basically the album) is about a viking who joins this crew on a ship going through Holmgard to find the unknown land of Miklagard. this is the last song on the album, that basically sums the whole thing up
lyrics:
Long have I drifted without a course A rudderless ship I have sailed The Nile just keeps flowing without a source Maybe all the seekers just failed?
To Holmgard and beyond In search of a bond Far from home I've come But the road has just begun
Breathing history Veiled in mystery The sublime The greatest of our time Tsargrad!
"Come with us to the south Write your name on our roll" I was told;
Konstantinopolis Sui generis The saints and emperors Of bygone centuries The man-made birds in their trees Out load their paean rings Immortality!
In astonishing colours the East meets the West The hill-banks arise in their green In wonder I sit on my empty chest As we glide down the strait in between
To Holmgard and beyond In search of a bond Distant church bells toll For their god they chant and troll
Breathing history Veiled in mystery The sublime The greatest of our time Tsargrad!
The Norwegian of rank In the court of The Prince I was convinced
Konstantinopolis Ten gates to eternity Seen all for centuries Your inconquerable walls Your temples and your halls See all, hear all, know it all
My sun rose in the North and now sets in the South The Golden Horn lives up to its name From tower to tower a chain guards its mouth Unbreakable, they claim
To Holmgard and beyond In a search of a bond Adventures lie ahead Many knots lie unravelled on my thread
Breathing history Veiled in mystery The sublime The greatest of our time Tsargrad!
Konstantinopolis Queen of the cities Your welcoming smile Made all worthwhile The sweat and the pain
Bathing in gold Endless rooftops unfold The sun sets for a while just to rise again
Great halls Great halls Greatest of all, Miklagard

"I Cry When Angels Deserve To Die" ----> System of A Down - Chop Suey
I've always loved that line...
There are a lot of other lines I love, but I'm drawing a blank right now

You're the master of Karate and friendship for everyone!
Assumption Song
There was an old farmer who lived on a rock He sat in the meadow just shaking his Fist at some boys who were down by the crick Their feet in the water, their hands on their Marbles and play things at a half passed four There came a young lady who looked like a Pretty, young preacher She sat on the grass, she pulled up her dress And she showed them her Ruffles, and laces and white fluffy duck She said she was learning a new way to Bring up her children, so they would not spit While the boys in the barnyard were shoveling Refuse, and litter from yesterday's hunt While the girl in the meadow was rubbing her Eyes at the fellow, down by the dock He looked like a man with a sizable Home in the country, with a big fence out front If he asked her politely, she'd show him her Little pet dog, who was subject to fits And maybe she'd let him grab hold of her Small, tender hands with a movement so quick And then she'd bend over and suck on his Candy, so tasty made of butterscotch And then he'd spread whip cream all over her Cookies that she had left out on her shelf If you think this is dirty You can go f*ck yourself!

Wiped out in the city slick Another sick rock 'n' roller acting like a dick Needing cash Burning through the trash That piles up in this place And fills up behind my empty face Full of things that I'm not to do You come over with all of your friends And all their opinions I don't want to know And I'm looking over my shoulder Booking away with nowhere to go I run down to the corner lot It's forty-five past two I almost forgot to show Got a date to make with Mr. So-and-So After which I won't care when you all start to bitch and moan About being alone You come over with all of your friends And all their opinions I don't want to know And I'm looking over my shoulder Booking away with nowhere to go Well, can't you just leave me alone? You've already thrown all the sticks and stones You had to send my way Well, can't you just leave it at that? And spare us both the bother Because I just bounce back anyway I got nothing that I want to do more Than make another sonic " you" to play Whenever you make my life cliche So to fit in some little box with the all the labeled crap You would say to keep confusion away You come over with all of your friends And all their opinions I don't want to know And I'm looking over my shoulder Booking away with nowhere to go You come over with all of your friends And all their opinions I don't want to know And I'm looking over my shoulder Booking away 'looking over my shoulder' by elliott smith.

Pretty much every song from bands Brand New and Say Anything. Both are lyrical geniuses.
Here's an example.

A few of my favorites
Rush - The Pass Proud swagger out of the schoolyard Waiting for the world's applause Rebel without a conscience Martyr without a cause
Static on your frequency Electrical storm in your veins Raging at unreachable glory Straining at invisible chains
And now you're trembling on a rocky ledge Staring down into a heartless sea Can't face life on a razor's edge Nothing's what you thought it would be
All of us get lost in the darkness Dreamers learn to steer by the stars All of us do time in the gutter Dreamers turn to look at the cars Turn around and turn around and turn around Turn around and walk the razor's edge Don't turn your back And slam the door on me
It's not as if this barricade Blocks the only road It's not as if you're all alone In wanting to explode
Someone set a bad example Made surrender seem all right The act of a noble warrior Who lost the will to fight
And now you're trembling on a rocky ledge Staring down into a heartless sea Done with life on a razor's edge Nothing's what you thought it would be
No hero in your tragedy No daring in your escape No salutes for your surrender Nothing noble in your fate Christ, what have you done?
--------- Bob Dylan - It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding) Darkness at the break of noon Shadows even the silver spoon The handmade blade, the child's balloon Eclipses both the sun and moon To understand you know too soon There is no sense in trying.
Pointed threats, they bluff with scorn Suicide remarks are torn From the fool's gold mouthpiece The hollow horn plays wasted words Proves to warn That he not busy being born Is busy dying.
Temptation's page flies out the door You follow, find yourself at war Watch waterfalls of pity roar You feel to moan but unlike before You discover That you'd just be One more person crying.
So don't fear if you hear A foreign sound to your ear It's alright, Ma, I'm only sighing.
As some warn victory, some downfall Private reasons great or small Can be seen in the eyes of those that call To make all that should be killed to crawl While others say don't hate nothing at all Except hatred.
Disillusioned words like bullets bark As human gods aim for their mark Made everything from toy guns that spark To flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark It's easy to see without looking too far That not much Is really sacred.
While preachers preach of evil fates Teachers teach that knowledge waits Can lead to hundred-dollar plates Goodness hides behind its gates But even the president of the United States Sometimes must have To stand naked.
An' though the rules of the road have been lodged It's only people's games that you got to dodge And it's alright, Ma, I can make it.
Advertising signs that con you Into thinking you're the one That can do what's never been done That can win what's never been won Meantime life outside goes on All around you.
You lose yourself, you reappear You suddenly find you got nothing to fear Alone you stand with nobody near When a trembling distant voice, unclear Startles your sleeping ears to hear That somebody thinks They really found you.
A question in your eyes is lit Yet you know there is no answer fit to satisfy Insure you not to quit To keep it in your mind and not fergit That it is not he or she or them or it That you belong to.
Although the masters make the rules For the wise men and the fools I got nothing, Ma, to live up to.
For them that must obey authority That they do not respect in any degree Who despise their jobs, their destinies Speak jealously of them that are free Do what they do to be Nothing more than something They invest in.
While some on principles baptized To strict party platform ties Social clubs in drag disguise Outsiders they can freely criticize Tell nothing except who to idolize And say God bless him.
While one who sings with his tongue on fire Gargles in the rat race choir Bent out of shape from society's pliers Cares not to come up any higher But rather get you down in the hole That he's in.
But I mean no harm nor put fault On anyone that lives in a vault But it's alright, Ma, if I can't please him.
Old lady judges watch people in pairs Limited in sex they dare To push fake morals insult and stare While money doesn't talk, it swears Obscenity, who really cares Propaganda, all is phony.
While them that defend what they cannot see With killer's pride, security It blows the minds most bitterly For them that think death's honesty Won't fall upon them naturally Life sometimes Must get lonely.
My eyes collide head-on with stuffed graveyards False gods, I scuff At pettiness which plays so rough Walk upside-down inside handcuffs Kick my legs to crash it off Say alright, I have had enough What else can you show me?
And if my thought-dreams could be seen They'd probably put my head in a guillotine But it's alright, Ma, it's life, and life only.
-------- Bob Dylan- Subterrean Homesick Blues Johnny's in the basement Mixing up the medicine I'm on the pavement Thinking about the government The man in the trench coat Badge out, laid off Says he's got a bad cough Wants to get it paid off Look out kid It's somethin' you did God knows when But you're doin' it again You better duck down the alleyway Lookin' for a new friend The man in the coon-skin cap In the pig pen Wants eleven dollar bills You only got ten
Maggie comes fleet foot Face full of black soot Talkin' that the heat put Plants in the bed but Phone's tapped anyway Maggie says the men they say They must bust in early May Orders from the D. A. Look out kid Don't matter what you did Walk on your tip toes Don’t try No-Doz Better stay away from those That carry around a fire hose Keep a clean nose Watch the plain clothes You don't need a weather man To know which way the wind blows
Get sick, get well Hang around a ink well Hangin' bell, hard to tell If anything is gonna sell Try hard, get barred Get back, ride rail Get jailed, jump bail Join the army if you fail Look out kid You're gonna get hit By losers, cheaters Six-time users Hangin' 'round the theaters Girl by the whirlpool Lookin' for a new fool Don't follow leaders Watch the parkin' meters
Oh get born, keep warm Short pants, romance Learn to dance, get dressed Get blessed, try to be a success Please her, please him, buy gifts Don't steal, don't lift Twenty years of schoolin' And they put you on the day shift Look out kid They keep it all hid Better jump down a manhole Light yourself a candle Don't wear sandals Ya can't afford the scandal Don't wanna be a bum You better chew gum The pump don't work 'Cause the vandals took the handle

Believe, me when you lie You will never need to recognize yourself To deceive To remove all chance of doubt and be received With your lie The deception is complete, when you concede And decide To reject your lives, sacrifice to me
Penance can’t absolve your sin Into me, penance can't absolve your sin All your belief, cannot absolve your sin All your belief, cannot absolve your sin
Believe, me when you lie You will never need to recognize the source Of deceit To renew your faith in God You must believe in your lie The redemption is complete when you conceive And decline To release your lives, sacrifice to me
Penance can’t absolve your sin Into me, penance can't absolve your sin All your belief, cannot absolve your sin All your belief, cannot absolve your sin
Reap your life like you want to Recognize, all you've come to Reap your life like you want to Recognize, all you've come to Reap your life, veiled in shadow Recognize, faces of the crucified I can hear their screams tonight Ever haunting me
Burn your lie
Into me, penance can’t absolve your sin Into me, penance can't absolve your sin All your belief, cannot absolve your sin All your belief, cannot absolve your sin I know all your belief, cannot absolve your sin I know all your belief, cannot absolve your sin

Dillinger Four- "Doublewhiskeycokenoice"
"Sometimes it's simple things that make it hard Spoiled baby T's with credit cards Overtime always on my mind Could have been's eat away inside now
Praise God and pass the bottle of Beam Because tonight I can't seem to say what I mean Don't know if I would even if I could, Amen Somehow this seems like borrowed time Pay it no mind, everything is fine But sometimes I'd rather hear laughter while this whole place died
A johnny jump-up is a lovely thing A pint of cider and some whiskey I had four dead inside of me Just to hear this jackass sing his line about How he used to hang out somewhere "back in the day" Knowing terms only that an bunghole would say So I sat there drinking more Thinking about drinking more
Nelson Algren came to me And said clebrate the ugly things The beat up side of what they call pride could be the measure of these days
God save Otis Redding because I know he's never gone As sick falls from this mouth hear me sing it wrong Is it "cigarettes and coffee" now or Dreams to be Remembered I'll leave regrets for dead and sing along
So I'm reaching for the phone, I don't want to be alone I want to get some friends here tonight I got a basement full of booze and some blues to lose I'll ignore the whole world tonight It will be alright"

I've been lost and broken hearted, it's been weeks since I've been home. I'd better finish what I've started, clench my fists and stand alone.
There ain't no time like the present, and there ain't no secrets here. And if drinking was my living, well then I'd be a millionaire.
Here's to good times. Here's to good times. May our roads one day cross again. Here's to good times. Here's to good times. May our roads one day cross again.
I am pretty, I'm pretty vacant, and I ain't afraid to die. I ain't weak or complacent, can't you see that in my eyes? And to hell with all the others that don't feel the same as me. And to the devil with what they're thinking, because I know who I must be.
Here's to good times. Here's to good times. May our roads one day cross again. Here's to good times. Here's to good times. May our roads one day cross again.
