WWF Royal Rumble
Sunday 19th January 1997
San Antonio, TX - Alamodome
[19:30-19:34] - The opening WWF signature airs, hyping us up for the upcoming program produced by the World Wrestling Federation. A video package then aired, promoting the match tonight, for the WWF Championship, where Shawn Michaels spent eight years, through betrayal and controversy, aswell as defeat and injury to get the WWF Championship at WrestleMania XII, only to get his dream shattered thanks to Sycho Sid at the Survivor Series. However, it was only a secondary concern for Shawn, for him to lose the title, as Sid would nail the 'Heartbreak Kid's trainer, Jose Lothario with a video camera, and Shawn has wanted nothing but retribution since. It hypes Shawn coming back to his homeland a wiser and more mature man than before, seeking revenge on Sycho Sid tonight! Starburst Twist [yay?] sponsors the WWF Royal Rumble, as we cut to the massive Alamodome, where pyrotechnics go off in the ring, and the San Antonio crowd go wild for the World Wrestling Federation! Vince McMahon greets us to the show as he is doing commentary alongside Jerry "King" Lawler, and good ol' JR, Jim Ross; and they promote the matches tonight before cutting to our Spanish commentators, Carlos Cabrera, Tito Santana and Hugo Savinowich aswell as the father-son French announcers, Ray Rougeau and Jacques Rougeau Sr.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley defeated Goldust with Marlena to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship This was a great way to open up this magnificent pay-per-view event, as the audience were on fire for the World Wrestling Federation, and it showed in the massive atmosphere for this event. Goldust set off a big pyrotechnics display above the ring, of gold sparks which caught everybody's interest, and he was the popular one to win this match, going after the arrogant WWF Intercontinental Champion and burying the champion in shot after shot, whilst the announcers put over the war of insults between the two, and the fact that Hunter stated that he would steal Marlena away from Goldust after he beat him here, tonight. Goldust nailed some impressive moves in this one, aswell, as he nailed a picture-perfect powerslam and a flying forearm, however everything he did got a near fall, and before long, Hunter Hearst Helmsley retreated to the ringside area as a break from the action with the bizarre challenger. Helmsley did gain momentum and offense in this one, however, as Goldust ran at Helmsley whilst at ringside, but Hunter nailed a painful spinebuster RIGHT on the thin carpet on the aisleway! Helmsley would take over on the offense front, keeping Goldust in a tight abdominal stretch. Helmsley would keep on pressuring the hold and stretching Goldust at the abdomen, but Goldust would start to attempt a comeback as the San Antonio crowd routed him on, and Goldust eventually reversed the abdomenal submission into a hip toss, and soon after went for the Curtain Call! But Hunter landed on his feet before Goldust, shoved him into official Teddy Long before delivering an illegal low-blow to Goldust! Long didn't see it, however and Hunter nailed the Pedigree for the win!

[19:48-19:50] - Hunter Hearst Helmsley began to celebrate his victory as Marlena looked to be extremely annoyed, as Hunter would grab his WWF Intercontinental Championship and raise it high in the air before going over to kiss Marlena, but Marlena slapped him across the face! The crowd popped as Marlena then went back to attending to her fallen husband, Goldust, but Hunter did not react too kindly to Marlena's show of anger and planted her with a Pedigree aswell for good measure! The crowd hissed Hunter, as the man celebrated and left with his WWF Intercontinental Championship.
[19:50-19:52] - Vince McMahon notes that Goldust will be returning to participate in the big upcoming thirty-man Royal Rumble match, then telling us that he has heard of comments made by two performers in tonight's Rumble match. We go to Bret "Hitman" Hart as he sits in the backstage locker room, sat down and looking into a mirror, talking about how everybody thinks he will be a marked man, Hart mentioning that he's been a marked man all of his life, and he won't let anybody get in his way, or anything get in his way, he will be looking to win this thing. We then go to Vader as he makes brief comments about how tonight, he will be willing to crush The Undertaker and also go on to win the Royal Rumble match so he can reign supreme over the WWF as the new WWF Champion come WrestleMania XIII.
[19:52-20:04] -
Faarooq with JC Ice, Wolfie D and Clarence Mason defeated Ahmed Johnson by disqualification This wasn't too bad of a match, really, as Faarooq and Ahmed Johnson managed to put on an actually pretty good show of ability and hard-hitting style, even if the action seemed extremely stiff in the ring. Faarooq was accompanied by the annoying Nation of Domination members, JC Ice and Wolfie D of PG-13 aswell as Clarence Mason, and Faarooq went into this with some hard shots to the body of Ahmed Johnson, most specifically his torso, targeting the kidneys of Ahmed, but Johnson wouldn't take too much of it, overpowering Faarooq and delivering a wide variety of moves, from a spear to spinebuster, but when it came to attempting the Pearl River Plunge, Faarooq would manage to break out of it or block it, and this seemingly angered Ahmed alot more than before. Ahmed would eventually go for PG-13 out at ringside whilst the official, Tim White was busy with a downed Faarooq, and PG-13 would sandwich Ahmed, coming from both directions, behind and front of Faarooq, and just weakened him for the Nation of Domination's leader, Faarooq. Ahmed would then effortlessly struggle back into the ring, and Faarooq would stomp away at Johnson, eventually targeting for the Dominator, but Ahmed would land on his feet behind Faarooq and run off of the ropes, coming back with a flying clothesline! Ahmed, feeling the crowd cheer for him, would then go for the Pearl River Plunge, but when he got Faarooq on his shoulders, JC Ice and Wolfie D got on the apron and pulled Faarooq over the top rope! PG-13 attended to Faarooq as Ahmed would dive off of the ropes and land on PG-13, Faarooq and Clarence Mason with a big dive! Ahmed then knocked Faarooq out with a steel-chair!
**1/2[20:04-20:07] - Ahmed Johnson didn't stop when he clocked Faarooq with a steel-chair, as JC Ice and Wolfie D attempted to attack Ahmed with lefts and rights, but were sent flying up the aisleway with thunderous shots courtesy of Johnson! Ahmed then saw Clarence Mason and grabbed the scrawny manager by his neck and dragged him around ringside, where he delivered the Pearl River Plunge through an announce table! Ahmed raised his arms for the fans in the Alamodome to cheer, as though Johnson has lost this battle, he has won tonight's war with the Nation of Domination!
[20:07-20:08] - We cut to the dressing room of Terry Funk as Terry Gordy was shown in the background, not in The Executioner attire, as Funk began to talk about how screwed up the World Wrestling Federation have made Gordy, and how they're biased to make big stars like Sycho Sid and other bullsh*t made stars [the segment was pre-recorded] into something special, and ruin the true talent they have. Funk tells the WWF that they won't have their way tonight, oh no, as Funk will be waiting to fight twenty-eight other men, and somehow, Funk and Gordy will make an impact in the Royal Rumble match!
[20:08-20:17] -
Mankind defeated Jake Roberts Well, this was a quite match to fill a spot between big matches, as it was the deranged Mankind taking on the crazy old and religious snake-lover, Jake Roberts in a match that was a late addition to the big card, here in the Alamodome, site of the 1997 Royal Rumble in San Antonio, Texas. These two previously battled on Monday Night RAW, two weeks ago, but it seemed as though things got reheated between the two as Roberts attempted to place a snake on top of Mankind on WWF Superstars, and then last night on Shotgun Saturday Night, as Roberts and Stone Cold Steve Austin fought in the bar at the nightclub, DIamonds and Dust, Roberts turned around to get the Mandible Claw from Mankind, who spontaneously appeared! Mankind got in some shots to start off, but Jake won the fistfight, as he followed up with more and more lefts and rights, just building up his own arsenal to try and make Mankind actually suffer and feel pain that will teach him not to get in the ring with Jake Roberts again. The crowd weren't too into it, but they gave Mankind a mixed reaction, strangely enough, but it showed that Mankind is pretty over here in Texas. Roberts at a point in the match attempted to go for the DDT, but the spot was blown, as Mankind believe it was a swinging neckbreaker attempt, and Mankind fell right out of the DDT attempt. That was about the only bad point in this contest. Mankind went for Jake's snake, but Roberts delivered more shots to Mankind, only for Mankind to come out of nowhere with a double-arm DDT! Mankind then covered Roberts, and that was it!
**1/4
[20:17-20:19] - Mankind begins to celebrate his victory maniacally as he gets up and picks up Jake "The Snake" Roberts, downing him with a second double-arm DDT! Mankind tries to shatter the shoulder of Jake, delivering a furious army of double axe handles to his shoulder, before tossing him out of the ring! Mankind leaves the ring as official, Mike Chioda got in his face, only to be shoved down! Mankind laughed insanely as he grabbed Jake and tossed him shoulder first into the ring post three shocking times! A broken Jake Roberts was left rolled on the floor, as officials attended to him, Mankind leaving with his infamous limp.
[20:19-20:20] - Stone Cold Steve Austin was shown in the backstage area, as he commented on the upcoming Royal Rumble match, saying that he's going to throw twenty-nine other jackasses over the top rope and go to WrestleMania XIII to conquer and win the World Wrestling Federation's top prize, the WWF Championship. Austin shoves the camera away.
[20:20-20:41] -
Vader with Paul Bearerdefeated The Undertaker This match has been built up quite alot and started at just about the end of 1996, as Vader's manager, Jim Cornette was given the Tombstone Piledriver, and has since been kept out of Vader's business, evident but confusing, as on Monday Night RAW two weeks ago, Vader had Paul Bearer as his manager. Nontheless, this was a heated confrontation between two of the largest superstars in which the World Wrestling Federation have to offer. Vader started things off with many blows to The Undertaker, but the 'Deadman' fired back, belting Vader with some hard lefts and rights of his own, just trying to keep Undertaker down, only for 'Taker to return to his feet time after time after time. Undertaker literally would just not stop getting back up, and Vader would get so raged up that he eventually just tossed the Undertaker to ringside, where he proceeded in attacking 'Taker and attempting to use a steel-chair, but official Jimmy Korderas took it away from him, but that's when Vader would pick up the hammer from the timekeeper and slam it over the skull of Undertaker! Vader would roll 'Taker back into the ring as the Undertaker then started to bleed a nasty, four inch cut across his forehead from where he was nailed by the timekeeper's hammer! Vader continued his attack on Undertaker, setting up for his Vaderbomb move from the second turnbuckle, but the 'Taker sat up and Vader winded himself! Undertaker then did the unthinkable and Chokeslammed all four-hundred pounds of Vader down! 'Taker went to cover, but Paul Bearer got on the apron! 'Taker, seeing the man who managed him but betrayed him for Mankind at SummerSlam, got up and grabbed Paul, pulling him in through the ropes! Undertaker went to Chokeslam Paul Bearer, but Vader clubbed him from behind! Vader would deliver a shocking powerbomb to 'Taker before going up to the second turnbuckle and landing the Vaderbomb on 'Taker for the win!
**3/4
[20:41-20:42] - Vader raised his arms in victory with a bewildered Paul Bearer as fans were left stunned that Vader had succeeded in defeating The Undertaker! Vader and Bearer walked up the aisleway as Vader would then see on the tron that Undertaker had sat up and Vader just grinned!
[20:42-20:43] - We see a clip from the Free-4-All, held before this pay-per-view event as it was Fuerza Guerrera, Heavy Metal and Hysteria having a great fast-paced match with Hector Garza, Octagon and Abismo Negro, as Negro finished Fuerza off with that Tombstone Piledriver, I am wondering what is going on with this, is Negro allowed to do The Undertaker's move? Vince McMahon reacted confused about it, aswell.
[20:43-20:45] - Howard Finkel stood in the ring as he explained the ruels for this upcoming Royal Rumble match, with two superstars starting and every ninety seconds, another superstar arriving. This sequence will continue until thirty men have entered. Also, elimination can only occur when a superstar is thrown over the top rope, with both feet touching the floor. Jerry Lawler would then go on to mimmick Howard for filling up our pay-per-view time. After Howard was done, we cut to the front row as UFC star,
Ken Shamrock was sat in attendance. He waved to the camera as he wore his UFC shirt, letting the match soon begin.

Royal Rumble Match
The match started with
Owen Hart] and
Terry Funk drew numbers one and two, respectively, and it was shocking to the audience that Terry Funk and Owen Hart would have even drawn a number so unlucky. Terry Funk tried clobbering with Owen, but the younger Hart brother used his youth and athleticism to keep away from any attempt made by Terry [sporting an ECW shirt] to eliminate the WWF Tag Team Champion.
Henry O. Godwinn was the third man to enter, as he went in there and went right after his fellow redneck amigo, Terry Funk, and formed a temporary bond with rival in the tag team division, Owen Hart. Hart would eventually turn on Henry however, as he would then proceed to eliminate
Henry O. Godwinn from the match.
Doug Furnas was the fourth entrant into this match, and he managed to get on quite well, almost eliminating Owen Hart on three or four occasions, but Terry Funk eventually got at Furnas and took him down to the canvas.
The Undertaker was the fifth entrant in this match, and he came out with a bandage on his head, only about ten minutes following his defeat to Vader! Undertaker immediately went into the ring and traded blows with Terry Funk, as Owen Hart would attack 'Taker from behind and the three in the ring tried to keep Undertaker tamed, but it was no use as Owen and Funk got big boots to the face and
Doug Furnas was eliminated from the ring!
Hector Garza was the sixth man in the match, as he tried to make a difference, delivering a nice hurricanrana to Terry Funk, which Funk sold with greatness, but Owen Hart would end Garza's run of momentum with a spinning heel kick to the side of the face!
British Bulldog was the seventh entrant in the match as he rushed down to the ring, eliminating
Hector Garza whilst Owen was hoisting him over his own head, trying to eliminate him!
Honky Tonk Man was number eighth in the bout, and he came down to the ring wearing his Elvis Presley get-up and with an accoustic guitar in hand. He had a hands-free headset which let everybody hear him, as the crowd ended up booing Honky Tonk Man. The Undertaker eventually decided that he'd heard enough and knocked Honky unconscious! Honky from here would then roll out under the ropes, waiting at ringside for a chance.
Fake Diesel was the ninth man in the match as he went in there, trading blows with The Undertaker as Vince McMahon poorly attempted to remind us that this Diesel had fought Undertaker at WrestleMania XIII. Fake Diesel did tower over 'Taker, and seemed even to him in some aspects, as Diesel clobbered away and kept him in the corner.
Marc Mero was our next entrant, in at number ten, as he would go in there and try to chop down Fake Diesel, before going for Owen Hart and nailing a picture-perfect dropkick on him! Mero seemed alive as
Crush entered at number eleven.
Crush immediately targeted The Undertaker, giving Fake Diesel a shot across the face, before stomping a mudhole in the gut of Undertaker, then whipping him across the ring into the opposite turnbuckle. Undertaker seemed to be in a bad way as Owen Hart then delivered an enziguri to Crush out of nowhere!
Hunter Hearst Helmsley entered at number twelve, and he seemed very egomaniacal after his win over Goldust earlier this evening. Helmsley went after British Bulldog, the two trading blows in the corner as Terry Funk soon got involved with that, also.
Fake Diesel was assisted over the top rope as Crush decided that Diesel had pestered him in his beatdown on Undertaker once too many, clotheslining Diesel out to the floor.
Venom was number thirteen, and got little to no fanfare, as he ran in and got clotheslined by Marc Mero, before
Venom was tossed over the top rope with ease by British Bulldog!
The Sultan was number fourteen as he took his sweet time walking down to the ring, must of wasted half a minute just getting in there. Sultan traded blows with Crush and Mero as Honky Tonk Man watched on, still scared it seemed.
Phineous I. Godwinn was number fifteen as he ran in there and attempted to mix it up with Terry Funk almost immediately. It didn't last, however, as Marc Mero, The Sultan and British Bulldog all attacked Phineous!
Vader was entrant number sixteen as The Undertaker awaited the big man!
Things started to heat up immediately as Vader and The Undertaker met in the center of the ring trading blows, just thirty or forty minutes after they just battled in their singles match! The two's brawling was cut off, however by the prescense of other superstars, Owen taking 'Taker down with another great enziguri, and British Bulldog attacking his own former Camp Cornette comrade, Vader!
Goldust ran down to the ring at number seventeen and Hunter Hearst Helmsley knew this would be trouble as Goldust charged at Helmsley with a barrage of lefts and rights, just trying to dig into Helmsley and kill him! This showed that their match for the WWF Intercontinental Championship definately meant nothing at all to either men, as
Goldust sacrificed his spot in the Rumble, clotheslining
Hunter Hearst Helmsley over the top rope, eliminating the both of them in the process! At ringside, Goldust continued to brawl with Hunter Hearst Helmsley, the fight spilling through to the backstage area!
Terry Gordy was entrant number nineteen, as he began to deliver many shots to The Sultan, whom Terry Funk was trading blows with. The two Terry's, both wearing ECW shirts began to double team The Sultan, and a double clothesline led to
The Sultan being eliminated!
Savio Vega was number twenty as he ran in there and began to go after Owen Hart, but Hart reversed things, almost eliminating Vega, though Crush prevented Owen from doing so! That's when British Bulldog would step over, and he would trade blows with Crush!
Fake Razor Ramon pranced out and down the aisleway at twenty-one, climbing into the ring, only to head back out to the apron, laughing at the in-ring competitors like a moron. That's when
Fake Razor Ramon would get eliminated, as Honky Tonk Man stood at ringside pulling on his feet, eliminating Ramon!
Faarooq was number twenty-two.
Meanwhile, back in the ring, The Undertaker and Vader traded more blows in the corner, not letting anybody get in the way, as 'Taker had been cut open yet again by one of Vader's hard attacks!
Marc Mero was dumped from the ring after an impressive stint, as he became a victim to the Nation of Domination yet again, trying to go for the new arrival, Faarooq, but being eliminated by Faarooq's partners in crime, Crush and Savio Vega.
Billy Gunn came out as twenty-three, dressed all flamboyent as he has been recently on Shotgun Saturday Night, wearing a shirt saying 'ShowGunn' on it. Billy would then grab Honky Tonk Man by his suit and shove him in the ring, proceeding to grab Honky and tear the Elvis suit right off, stripping Honky down to briefs!
Honky Tonk Man would then eliminate himself, tripping through the ropes while covering his briefs, Gunn just looked annoyed.
Mankind was number twenty-four, as he climbed into the ring and traded fists with British Bulldog before Owen Hart came from behind, jumping Mankind as the WWF Tag Team Champions went to dump him over the top rope, only for Vader to block them off! Vader delivered a powerbomb to Owen before eliminating
British Bulldog from the ring!
Abismo Negro was number twenty-five, as the mysterious AAA superstar climbed into the ring and mixed it up with Owen Hart and Savio Vega, sharing fast-paced and agile techniques.
Ahmed Johnson was number twenty-sixth as he rushed down the aisleway and speared Savio Vega out of his boots! Crush tried to stop Ahmed but he was just too strong for him, too! Ahmed clotheslined
Savio Vega and tossed
Crush out of the ring, then going for Faarooq, but
Faarooq dove over the top rope himself, the three Nation of Domination members running up the aisleway for their lives as
Ahmed Johnson climbed over the top, landing on the floor, chasing the Nation to the back!
Bret Hart was twenty-seventh in the match as he got an amazing ovation from the crowd, Bret eliminating
Terry Gordy with a clothesline! Terry Funk then tried to attack Bret, but Mankind came from behind, tossing his own former friend from outside of the WWF,
Terry Funk out!
Rocky Maivia was twenty-eight as he darted down to the ring, all full of potential, as he dropkicked
Billy Gunn in the rear, eliminating Gunn from the ring! Gunn looked pissed!
Phil LaFon was the twenty-ninth.
We all knew what this meant, as there could only be one more man to enter and his name was Stone Cold Steve Austin!
Abismo Negro, only now reviving from the Tombstone Piledriver suffered at the hands of The Undertaker was eliminated by Bret Hart, as the buzzer went off for number thirty.
Steve Austin appeared at the entrance, before rushing to the ring and tackling Bret Hart to the canvas upon arrival, the two rolling around trying to kill each other, pretty much! Meanwhile, The Undertaker continued his brawl with Vader, as Mankind attempted to go after 'Taker, only for 'Taker to shrug him off, and Owen Hart would hold onto the ropes, whilst standing on the apron, eliminating
Mankind! Now down to five, we had Owen Hart looking quite odd in there alone with Vader and The Undertaker trading blows in a bloody fistfight whereas Bret Hart and Steve Austin continued to roll around attempting to murder each other. That's when Owen went up top and went to dive on Bret, but dropped an elbow on Austin instead! Bret then got up and clotheslined
Owen Hart out of the ring!
Bret Hart and Steve Austin returned to trading blows, this time on a horizontal basis, as the two continued to fight, Bret big back body dropping Austin onto the apron, but Austin went to suplex Austin out to the floor, but Hart landed on the apron beside Austin! The two traded blows as on the other side of the ring, 'Taker went to Chokeslam Vader, but 'Taker shoved Vader backwards into the ropes, going to eliminate him, only for Vader to drag 'Taker with him! At the exact same time, Austin delivered a Stunner on the apron to Hart, eliminating both men! A four way tie??
Winner of the Royal Rumble: Steve Austin, Bret Hart, The Undertaker or Vader[21:49-21:51] - The place was going crazy as The Undertaker and Vader continued their brawl at ringside, whereas Steve Austin confronted a referee, demanding he win the Royal Rumble match! All of the referees looked confused as they argued over who won! Vince McMahon eventually took a stand and ordered we see a video montage recapping what happened in instant replay footage. We see it on the big screen at this point, and Undertaker and Vader's feet both seemed to touch simultaneously, whereas Steve Austin and Bret Hart toppled off of the apron and landed at the same time aswell! The odds of that happening! Bret got in Vince's face before SPITTING on him before storming off! Steve Austin was arguing with officials, and The Undertaker and Vader were brawling up the aisleway as Vince looked disgusted!
[21:51-21:52] - An advertisement for WrestleMania 13 aired, it will not be known as WrestleMania XIII in roman numerals like recent years. It is live on pay-per-view from the Rosemont Horizon in Chicago, Illinois on Sunday 23rd March 1997!
[21:52-21:54] - The backstory behind our grand main event airs, which was pretty much the opening video package that aired earlier on tonight, hyping up Sycho Sid and Shawn Michaels' encounter for the WWF Championship. Vince McMahon in an important note, stated that he would announce the ruling of the Royal Rumble match and who will go to WrestleMania 13 to challenge for the WWF Championship on Monday Night RAW tomorrow night.
[21:54-22:22] -
Shawn Michaels vs Sycho Sid This was an amazing match here as it is probably one of Sycho Sid's finest encounters to date in the World Wrestling Federation, hell, even in his career. Shawn Michaels came out, being lowered down from the rafters, everybody in the Alamodome going insane for the 'Heartbreak Kid'! Shawn and Sid just simply stared each other up and down before anything for moments, as Jim Ross noted that this match was three years in the making, as Shawn once upon a time hired Sid as his bodyguard, only for Sid to betray him on an edition of RAW back in 1995. Shawn decided to make a move eventually, delivering many shots to the abs and chest of the WWF Champion, but Sid just would not go down. Shawn ran off of the ropes and dove at Sid numerous times, all of which Sid reacted slightly, but did not budge one inch, and on anohter occasion, Sid caught Shawn and tossed him away with a fall away slam as though the hometown challenger was a paperweight! The crowd booed longer and louder as Sid continued his beatdown on the challenger, Shawn Michaels' parents being seen sat in the front row as the 'Heartbreak Kid' continued to be beaten down, Sid just brutalizing the challenger with lefts and rights, a big boot and any way of torture in which he could cause Shawn. Sid would work over the spine of Shawn, so it would impact the 'Heartbreak Kid' even more if Powerbombed, but Shawn eventually mounted a comeback, delivering more shots to Sid and finding the adrenaline to charge at Sid with a crossbody and send the two flying over the top rope! The crowd went crazy as Shawn mounted a second wind, catching a stirring Sid as he went to return to his feet, only for Shawn Michaels to knock him down with clothesline! Shawn stomped away at Sid and then slammed him, head-first into the ring post, rolling the WWF Champion into the ring! The crowd roared as Shawn went up to the top rope, prepared to take a diving elbow drop into the black heart of Sycho Sid, but Sid put his hand up, catching Shawn by the throat! The crowd booed tremendously quick as Sid got to his feet and slammed Shawn with a one-handed chokeslam! The crowd booed as Sid covered...one...two...no! Shawn would not give up the fight! Sid began to prepare for the Powerbomb and got Shawn's head prepared, between his legs as Sid picked Shawn up in the Powerbomb, but Shawn jumped out, behind the champion on his feet! Shawn went for the Sweet Chin Music, but Sid grabbed Shawn by the foot and swung him around, the leg of the 'Heartbreak Kid' slammed right past the face of Earl Hebner, knocking Earl to the canvas! Sid punched Shawn in the gut and slammed him with the Powerbomb, then covering only to discover that Earl Hebner was unconscious! Sid went to revive Earl as Shawn slowly got back to his feet, and Michaels nailed Sid with the Sweet Chin Music! Sid stuttered and attempted to remain on his feet, but turned around to balance on the top ring rope! That's when a camera struck him across the skull! A camerman took off his cap to reveal
Jose Lothario! Shawn smiled at his trainer returning as he finished Sid off with a second Sweet Chin Music! The 'Heartbreak Kid' covered as Earl Hebner slowly rolled over...one....twoo.......three!

Winner and the NEW WWF Heavyweight Champion: Shawn Michaels![22:22-22:24] - The crowd went bezerk as Shawn Michaels knelt up from the body of Sycho Sid, and Jose Lothario in the standard WWF camerman uniform took the WWF Championship from the timekeeper and handed it to the 'Heartbreak Kid', signifying the beginning of the second reign for Shawn Michaels with the WWF Championship belt! Pyrotechnics went off and ticker tape fell from the rafters of the Alamodome! Jim Ross, Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler hype up Shawn becoming the top man in the World Wrestling Federation once again, but at WrestleMania 13, who will he be facing!? WWF Royal Rumble goes off the air!
